The Restaurant at Watermark Ratings and Reviews
Amy was an OUTSTANDING server! Being so young, I was incredibly impressed by her professionalism and dynamic communication skills. The food was beyond excellent.
It was my birthday dinner with my boyfriend so we were looking for a nice romantic evening out and I can honestly say the Restaurant at the Watermark did a fabulous job in making me feel special on my birthday (even though you guys had no idea). The sausage/beans dish was exceptional and the chef slipped us a little extra soup which made me feel super happy!
LOVED this restaurant and experience and I will be recommending it.
I usually love the restaurant at Watermark, but this time was disappointing. Came for the set Thanksgiving menu and was seriously let down. Service was okay, but have had much better there. The food was nowhere near the quality that I expect from them and reminded me of a turkey dinner you would get in a retirement home or hospital cafeteria. The turkey was actually inedible. Too bad
We always eat here on our first night in Osoyoos, and this year we went back for the final night, too. Since it is in the Watermark resort, you would almost expect more of a "utility" menu with a focus on burgers and fries, etc. But instead it is a place for simply prepared tasty "locavore" oriented items, e.g. tomatoes from nearby Covert Farms. My husband raved about the Patatas Bravas. We both loved the fresh tomato salad with house made ricotta. I thoroughly enjoyed the fish tacos with Okanagan River sockeye served with tasty house-made condiments. On the first night, when asked, I admitted I didn't like the Caesar salad with stone fruit - it was served with the lettuce practically whole, leaving the guest to cut it up and toss it. I found it too acidic and logistically difficult to eat. We were served complimentary desserts in response. Very classy gesture, which contributed to our decision to return for another meal. Lovely to sit outdoors next to the lake. Bonus: local wine tasting tips from our lovely server.
Food was bland and service was very poor. Our order was clearly not put in yet the waitress never admitted it and never apologized for the delay. The staff were pretty useless but the manager totally understood and comped a bottle of wine and the tapas that were so late. I've been there twice before and enjoyed it but this time was a bit of a disaster. Worst meal on our four day golf trip and we won't be back for sure.
The bbq ribs entree were very good. The bread choice wasn't worth ordering. The warmed olives were plentiful. The chicken thighs entree were moist and tender. Good wine selection. The bbq veggies choice also good. Served family style but shared with just us two. Waiters were very informed.
The food was absolutely disappointing. All the meals were brought out at different times. Very pedestrian food. Nothing special at all. Very oily chicken thighs in flavourless mashed polenta. Undercooked, rubbery rack of ribs you couldn't even cut with a steak knife. The BBQ sauce tasted like it was straight out of a bottle. A "spicy" shrimp skewer on couscous that seemed to be maid with the house mayonnaise. That was cold. And a caesar salad that looked liked one head of lettuce cut in half with a few croutons on it. We asked if the fruit cobbler was warm, it wasn't at all.
I would not recommend this restaurant and would never return.
My elderly parents and I enjoyed our dinner at the Watermark. We were impressed with the food and the service. The manager served us and other tables that evening. I found him courteous and welcoming despite the heat and the multiple demands of the patrons who were there for dinner that night. My parents are finicky eaters so when they said they enjoyed the entire meal consisting of multiple tapas plates of various foods rather than individual entrees it was a relief as I was aiming to please given how long we drove to get to Watermark restaurant. Thanks for the good experience, we will return the next time we visit Osoyoos!
Visiting Osoyoos for the first time. Lovely location and ambiance. We were told it was family style sharing, but decided to order our own meal. The waitress said she couldn't garauntee the food would arrive together this way, which surprised us, but in the end it did. Very small portions but pretty tasty.
Very poor service at a "share the items concept". Yawn. Some might like this but not worth the effort as the menu fare is limited. The service was extremely poor as was the venue. Made arrangements to move inside if it rained and was then told, "oh well, we're full", when it started to downpour. What a joke. Wouldn't recommend this dump to my worst enemy. What an underwhelming experience. Steak was great, the char was inedible. Pass on this one!
A perfect place for a get together with friends. From the first greeting to dessert, our server was top notch. Amy was knowledgable, kind, and efficient. The food was excellent and perfect for sharing. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to friends and can't wait to go back.
The only reason for the lower score is really for one reason only, it took them over 2 hours to bring out all our dishes. I understand it's tapas style and that dishes coming out are paced over a period or when ready. In this instance a few dishes would come out in a cluster, then there was a long period of time where we were waiting and then another cluster of food and then another long period until the last dish came out. By that time we were cold, tired and just wanted to leave.
Our server was great, the food incredible but how they paced the food coming out just really ruined the experience for us.
I reserved at the Watermark to celebrate my husband's birthday while we were on vacation. It did not disappoint. Although I had had tapas before and didn't think this would be much different, I liked the idea of the sharing plates. You could eat at leisure, not feeling rushed at all and just order more food if you felt like it. We ordered the bread basket, the soup which was parsnip, potted salmon and 2 orders of the beef bravette. For dessert we had creme brûlée and the fruit crisp. The bread arrived warm and with the oil and balsamic vinegar, the soup was nice and the potted salmon was OK. The beef bravette was very well marbled, tender and flavourful. The desserts were good, but not exceptional.
At times the service wAs too good with the severs asking to take away plates before we were done.
It was a nice relaxing atmosphere for a birthday supper.
This place was the only one on Open Table in Osoyoos! It was an obvious choice for me! The shrimp was delicious! My friend had the soup and was impressed with it! We shared the bread basket which was fresh and wonderful. Our server was also great and very knowledgeable about the dishes and answered all our questions with ease! Awesome! I would definitely return!
Love that you can order lots of small plates and the wine list is amazing. The manager was very busy helping everyone but didn't show that.. Just was so friendly and made it look easy to help us all. We will definitely be back again and again as we are locals in the area : )
We dined here on a Friday evening last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very busy but we had made a reservation , we couldn't eat on the patio because there was a lot of large groups outside , but did have a nice table for two near the bar. The menu is designed for sharing plates which really appeals to me. That way you get to try many things. We ordered the salad , prawns, carpaccio, sausages and steak plates. Delicious food, the only thing I might like is if it is something like the prawns that there is 6 instead of 5 so you don't have to arm wrestle your partner for the last one ! We had a great and informative server and food was delivered at a good pace. I certainly recommend this spot.
Situated by the lake, we enjoyed the sunset view at this restaurant with friendly staff. The tapas are meant to be shared and it's perfect for a large group like ours (8 people). Outstanding steak and it's cooked to perfection. It's probably the best we had in Osoyoos.
We had never tried the wine and Tapas bar at Watermark Resort. You always take a chance when venturing into a restaurant with no prior knowledge of their food quality, service or atmosphere. We were delighted with every aspect of this tapas bar. Fabulous drinks, and really marvelous food. The selection of delights was wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive.
We had a splendid time at the restaurant.
Overall a good experience. We're staying at a resort across the lake from the Watermark & thought it would be nice to try somewhere local.
Started with the beef tenderloin carpaccio & the beef buvette. A plate of grilled veg to follow was a good recommendation from our server. Next was the tuna tataki & the BBQ salmon filets. All were great tastes to share but felt the value of the carpaccio was not there. Dessert was the fruit crumble, a nice pear & raspberry combination.
Drinks we had were the 2oz margarita & the old fashioned. Both very good.
Wish the location of the patio was more waterfront, or at least elevated, & less pool/pool slide level.
My wife and I visit Osoyoos at least one every year and even if we don't stay at Watermark we eat at the restaurant and are never disappointed. The wine list has a great selection of BC wines and the sharing menu is fantastic. Good variety and beautiful tastes. We especially loved the warm quinoa and roasted cauliflower salad and the pork ribs. Service was attentive but not over bearing. Our table on the patio offered a great view of the lake and when the sun went down was romantically comfortable. Highly recommended!
