The Restaurant at The Willcox
The Willcox has received high honors for sustainability and is routinely recognized by Wine Spectator, Best Chefs of America and our community for our food, cocktails and staff. Come break bread with us. The experience is unpretentious and remarkably delicious.
The atmosphere and group was so good that we stayed to enjoy the ambiance and food.
Great Thanksgiving Day buffet !! Now we want to try the restaurant for dinner !!!!
Historically elegant dining in the Library". A live piano musician added to the enjoyment. Ebony, our server, was very good. Great anniversary evening!
Amazing service. The started to bring out the entrees just a smidge to soon and realized we were still working on our appetizers. The comped the bottles of wine we had ordered as a gesture of apology. That was necessary but shows how committed they are to doing things right.
Food was very good and they allowed us to bring in a late guest and hustled his order to catch up with the group.
All around a great meal with amazing service.
The staff were friendly and accomodating.
The food was subpar at best. We purchased "flights" of red and white wines supposedly rated 90 points or higher, none of which tasted as rated.
I ordered a "Chinese" soup which resembled a lukewarm sweet, thick flour paste. I received bread after two requests. The bread was good.
My entree of trout was presented with a coal sized lump of cauliflower covered with an inedible, bitter, red seasoning. The pieces of fish were served stacked on edge like cards, and were fresh, but bland. All was mingled with overcooked tomatoes and tasteless chickpeas.
I decided not to take a chance on dessert.
This was not a pleasant birthday surprise.
I have dined in restaurants locally all over the world, so I am not inexperienced
The quality of the food was outstanding and the service was fantastic. We shall return again and again.
Excellent service and attention to detail. Personalized note on the table for our anniversary. The only thing we has any sort of issue with, was the temp of my steak. Asked for rare to med rare, and got medium. Everything else was wonderful.
Sunday was a quiet evening at the restaurant. The service was very good and not rushed at all. We enjoyed the gazpacho and heirloom tomato appetizers and the special, soft shell crab. It was a spicy dish, but not overly so. The only drawback to the evening was that they were out of several appetizers, dinners and deserts. That was unexpected.
Elegant surroundings and delicious meal with perfect service! What more can you ask for.....?
The salmon was outstanding. It was very moist and tasty.
We took the family to the Willcox to celebrate a birthday and loved everything about it form the food to the atmosphere. We will be back.
Service and atmosphere was excellent and unique. It had a comfortable feeling and it was the best salmon I’ve ever had!
Food was excellent. Atmosphere was lovely. Very impressed with the service. The feel of the historic building is breathtaking.
We have been many times, always perfect!
Southern charm with southern personality combined with good food.
Overall, considering food, service, ambience and value, the experience was only OK. First, when I made the reservation I was asked if it was a special occasion. I shared it was my wife’s birthday. That was never acknowledged in any way.
I had the Big Breakfast and my wife had Eggs Benedict with Canadian Bacon. When ordering, our server forgot to ask how I wanted the eggs that came with breakfast. Water refills were intermittent. The food came quite quickly, hot and reasonably well presented, although my wife’s Eggs could have used at least a bit of garnish. The muffin under my wife’s Eggs was dry. The bubble and squeak on my plate was mediocre. The kidney beans may have been fine, but we’re not to my taste.
For the cost, I was underwhelmed. But we weren’t done yet. Later that day I got an email from Open Table asking why we hadn’t kept the reservation. Having to explain we had indeed kept the reservation was icing on the virtual cake.
Mr Clark Thank you for taking the time to post a review, it is only from people like you that we can learn from and fix our mistakes. The Restaurant at The Willcox is new to Opentable, as a result we are working out some kinks with our staff, A belated happy birthday to your wife. I have spoken with the server and Chef in regards to your feedback about the menu items, further training has been implemented with the server. We look forward to earning five stars during your next visit.
Great Father’s Day brunch with friends and family!
Was served an over cooked steak. It happens, I get it. But when I pointed it out the waitress brought it back to me and told me in a certain light it was actually cooked properly. WTF?
Franklin, I are also shocked by the response of your server. We will be implementing further training with the server and I sincerely apologize.
It was our anniversary dinner and it was absolutely perfect!
Wow! I just came back from dinner tonight. I enjoyed my Parisian cocktail and my husband had a martini. Both were shaken until ice crystals floated on top. The way we think a shaken cocktail should be served. I had the Chicken. It was delicious and husband had the filet. We both enjoyed our dinners it is definitely a place to come back to.
