The Restaurant at The Norton
The service was excellent as was the food. A delightful dinner was had by all. Our waitress Ann could not have been more accommodating and attentive to our needs.
It was relaxing to sit and view the outdoor garden area. The service was professional and prompt. The food was very fresh and delicious. The pricing was a little more expensive but not over the top. It was worth it to sit in such a pretty atmosphere and enjoy..
Great day at the Norton. Lunch was delicious and docent tour interesting.. of course, free entry was a lovely surprise.
The service was not up to our expectations for the Norton Restaurant. We a regular dinners there. The octopus plate was disappointing compared to previous meals. Very little octopus and the sausage was overcooked and hard and overpriced. I’ve had octopus appetizers at Greek restaurants with twice the octopus properly cooked more reasonably priced. The strawberry salad and tuna tartare were excellent as usual
Restaurant is fine if you are already visiting the museum. Booked in advance and then was shown to a two-seat table by kitchen entrance with a lot of traffic by servers. Elected to sit at bar instead and service was excellent but French dip sandwich arrived with the meat and cheese cold. Even the au jus was not hot. Would not order it again.
Lunch we had reservations for 1.30 PM and we came on time. I ordered the grilled Octapus. It came overcooked, hard , dark, tasteless. It seemed that it was cooked in the morning and left it on the fire until it was ready to be thrown out but instead it was served to a customer. I didn’t return it. I just didn’t eat it.
There’s a lot of potential but they need to pay attention to the food that they serve.
In addition to being located in a fabulous museum, the restaurant has terrific food and ambience.
Had a delightful lunch. Sat outside in garden area. Ambiance was perfect. Food was excellent, as was service
An absolute gem. We've gone several times. Would love to see a grain bowl on the menu.
Really enjoyed the food. Had the veal shank and scooped the marrow out with a spoon. Delicious!
We decided to splurge after a wonderful lunch. We ordered the "Floating Island", to go. We have had this in France, and very occasionally in the US. It is always soft meringue, usually in an oval shape, served over Creme Anglaise, and is delicious. Unfortunately what this chef calls "Floating Island" has no resemblance to the real one, and in fact, tasted awful. Had we eaten it at the restaurant (or even looked inside the box), we would have definitely returned it. It looked more like a disk of sponge cake, with 2 horrible tasting sauces on the side. I don't know how this can be served, let alone called "Floating Island".
Wonderful food, service and ambience - always a pleasure.
It was great.
Our dinner was fabulous. Each dish was wonderful. Great chef!
a convenient place to eat at the norton - food and service great - prices a little high
Had to send my salmon back as it was extremely overcooked. It was promptly replaced. I would still enjoy returning to this lovely venue. Also had a nice wine list.
What a treat! The setting overlooking a grass lawn in this new ultra modern museum is fabulous.. the food was equal to the setting. Also an attractive, well dressed crowd.
This is a magnificent venue. It is wonderful to be surrounded by such beauty. The menu was very interesting . I had the roasted beet salad and my wife had the quiche. The salad was ample and the vegetables were fresh and crispy. My wife said the quiche was delicious. It was a quarter of a pie. The staff was efficient and attentive. It was a great experience.
We arrived on West Palm with no reservations for Valentine’s Day. Searched and saw this had 4.5 stars and the menu looked interesting. We had a little difficulty finding the entrance at night (it’s on the side street). First impression when we walked in was that maybe I made a mistake...I was dressed for Palm Beach and this had the feel of a commissary. Very spartan decor, fairly well lite, very little ambiance. We went to the bar for a drink. We had excellent service and we were surprised by the painting on the wall, showing a beautiful woman in a red dress sitting on a bed, looking out a window. But wait.. did I see her move? ? Yes I did, and then she moved again and got up and left the room. The. A man walked in and drew all all the shades...I guess we were slow to catch on...it was a projection. Extremely interesting. They took various famous paintings and brought them to life. Loved it!!
The restaurant is very casual and also has an outdoor area for dining which opens up to the garden with sculptures.
We ordered the grilled octopus and the osso bucco. We were an 8:30 pm seating so they were out of octopus. We switched to a wedge of lettuce with Gorgonzola and pancetta.
The salad was delicious with the perfect amount of dressing. The Osso Bucco was also excellent as was the polenta and aujus sauce.
Great bottle of wine and large wine glasses. We were extremely happy. The price point was one of the lowest of all the area restaurants. I would have given it 5 stars in every category but the bright light was an ambiance killer. Would definitely go back but next time I’ll dress down a lot. Lol
It was a Valentines Dinner. They were out of the two entrees we were looking forward to eating. They got our order wrong. We waited one hour before receiving our salad. Not a good place to celebrate a special occasion.
food took too long to come out, took too long to be seated, restaurant was out of their main course, etc...
They ran out of filet on a set menu and substituted it with dry pork chop. Food was otherwise good, but way over priced. I thought the pianist playing would have been shown on the screen, but it was a childish looped art piece for over an hour. No music, no ambiance, extremely expensive for what was served.
Had a very unfortunate experience on Valentines Day. Made reservations in advance, and arrived on time and was offered a horrible table (that shouldn't even be a table) in the host/waiting area next to a hige column. Was told there were no other tables available. Minutes after we were sat, another couple walks in and gets sat outside on the terrace at a much lovelier table. Maybe it was because they were older...or white...but we had to sit in the waiting room with everyone staring at us and listening to our conversation. Waitress finally shows up, doesn't introduce herself, and we get cocktails ordered. We both wanted the Valentines Pre Fixe chef's tasting menu ($85pp) and are told they ran out of filet mignon and that we could have osso buco instead. Understandable, its Valentines Day and it is busy..we go back to the menus. I ask for bread for the table, and I am told they ran out of it also. Okay. We reoder- he asks for the osso buco entree (not the tasting menu) and I order a beet salad and a crabcake. The server returns and tells me they also ran out of crabcake. We are done- we ask to pay for our drinks and want to leave. Its now after 8PM on Valentines Day so there is no where else to go for dinner in the city. The manager comes over and tries to apologize and offers us 2 free drink cards for the next time we come to the Norton Restaurant- doesn't even offer to comp the cocktails we ordered before dinner. I tell her I understand about them running out of menu items and I express that I am really only upset about the poor seating and being lied to that there were no other tables available in the restaurant. She fumbles and tries to make an excuse and I really don't want to hear it. I work in F&B I know there was another table on the floorplan and I wasn't given it for whatever reason. Thanks for an awful Valentines date.
We had a 7:15 dinner reservation on Valentine’s Day And, unfortunately, the restaurant was ill prepared for the onslaught of meat lovers. At this time, the filet mignon on the menu was no longer available except if all members of a dining party were to participate in the special $85 per person filet mignon dinner package. My wife and I thought about other opportunities after ordering cocktails, and moved forward. Others were sat, ordered their food And were practically done before We learned of the status of our meal. Meanwhile, a couple sat adjacent to us when we finally got our food (with a special request done improperly) at 8:46pm Were told after ordering that the menu items are no longer available. They got up and left while we had notified the manager after 75 minutes of waiting. He took care of us, and even offered us desserts and coffee for the trouble.
My wife and I have been here for lunch before and it was excellent and enjoyable, hence why we decided to come on Valentine’s Day. We will definitely come back again, and can only hope it was a learning lesson for management who were very gracious with many understanding guests that they were simply overwhelmed and did not prepare accordingly as menu items were running out as the hour got closer to 9:30pm.
We were very excited to order the chefs valentines menu. The starter truffled mushroom on a toasted piece of bread, was ok. The bread was so over toasted that you couldn’t cut it or bite into it. The mushroom had no flavor, and The sauce was ok. The caviar was extremely fishy tasting and unpleasant. Our main course, the filet mignon, was way over cooked, despite the fact that we both ordered it medium rare. Plus it was barely warm. Dessert was decent.
The service was attentive and excellent. Our table was outdoors, facing the garden, so that was delightful.
I’m sorry that the food was poorly cooked and presented. I had hoped that with the redo of their restaurant, the quality of food would improve.
Great restaurant in the City. I would recommend this restaurant.
Perfect afternoon outside overlooking the garden - food & craft cocktails so delicious! Our server was so kind and friendly! Not to be missed!! Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in palm beach county
A very interesting location inside the beautiful new museum. Very imaginative menu.
It’s now a regular stop for Friday night happy hour and dinner as well as lunch on other days.
Excellent food & when you can eat outside it’s not too noisy.
Love Friday night dinner!
The food at The Restaurant at the Norton is fresh, imaginative, and delicious. The service friendly and efficient. The ambience sleek and chic.
4 women on a day out...loved restaurant and museum
The Restaurant at the Norton is the best place to eat when you want to visit the museum on a Friday night, such as we did. This was our third time there and each time it did not disappoint. We love everything about the restaurant.
GREAT setting, wonderful food and lovely, efficient staff!
Slow food delivery.
Room needs more ambiance, looks like a garage
The restaurant is beautiful with a beautiful view. The food was good, not outstanding, our chicken breast in the club sandwich was dry & tough & we had to ask for extra aioli as there wasn't much flavor, but fries were great, the coffee was good, and the meal presentation was nice.
I think what I ordered was a poor excuse for healthy vegan. The tofu in the peanut butter and vinaigrette vegie sandwich was fried so what you got was a carb sandwich high in calories. Because I asked if the fries were vegan and they were not because they are fried in the only fryer I was spared more calories.
The quiche I was told is delicious but not vegan.
We sat outside which is in a gorgeous setting and the highlight of our lunch.
Beautiful setting outdoors in a fantastic museum. I had the shrimp tacos on the advice of the waiter (who was great but new)
Very mediocre...no flavor, too few shrimp.
College Club Event
We were both disappointed in the food. Quality of ingredients ok but not well chosen ie a thick bun instead of a English muffin for the eggs Benedict and smoked salmon that was neither smoked nor salty. Possibly used hollandaise from a jar? Couldn’t tell as it was served cold. Waited a really long time so decided not to send it back. Special chicken entree was serious over-cooked although salad with beets and (1/2) fingerling potato was delicious.
