We chose the 7 course dinner meal with wine pairing. Wow. Creative, beautifully presented, very tasty and the wines paired perfectly. Portion sizes were just right. Some of the ingredients come fresh from their own garden. Service was impeccable..cant say enough about the great staff..lots of attention to detail. Cheers.
I arrived in late afternoon, as a single woman diner. I was greeted warmly, and given excellent and informative service, including good suggestions for pairing their wine with the delicious selection of small plates I ordered. As a vegetarian, I found a nice selection of vegetable forward dishes.
I have found since becoming a widow, that single diners are often given less attention and poorer service. It speaks well for an establishment to provide the same special experience to dining out that was the norm when my husband was still sharing my life.
Good set menu with farm to table concept. Meats were fresh and well seasoned. Only knock is that break is an extra charge and wine selection limited to vineyard.
Fantastic experience! We did the tasting menu and it was delightful. Amazing food and ambiance while still being really California causal.
Food was great. However they are no longer dog friendly you have to go to a spot with no service and run up and down the hill. It wasn’t bad just not what we had expected
Wow, we did the chef's tasting menu and there were many items that were just out of this world. The Foie gras was phenomenal! We are wine club members and brought some friends who had not ever been here, and they will definitely be back too!
I made reservations for brunch to celebrate my boyfriend's 31st birthday. The food was phenomenal and the suggested wine pairings even better. We were seated on the outside patio which was beautiful and surrounded by trees, and the staff was incredibly attentive. Our server Nic E was wonderful and incredibly knowledgable about the menu and the wines available.
After brunch my boyfriend was able to get the waitstaff's help to play 'our' song while we danced on the back patio, and they recorded and took pictures as he then proposed to me! It was so unexpected and kind, and we will definitely be making many trips back to the restaurant.
Food was way too salty. Restaurant was uncomfortably cold. They try very hard to be upscale, but don’t have the basics down very well
Russian River Vineyards only does dinner on the weekends...but it is worth the visit! We did their 4 course tasting menu, where each course has 3 options to pick from. The options are varied, and the portions are quite sizable. On top of the 4 "official" courses, they also provided little surprise intermission dishes throughout the evening, including a "snack" (beet donut served before the amuse-bouche), a pre-dessert palate cleanser (fresh sorbet served after the entree and before the dessert), and a homemade biscotti to close out the night (served after dessert).
The dishes were all paced perfectly, as we never felt like we were waiting long and had enough time between each course to savor the last one.
The staff was all incredibly friendly, informative, and attentive. We had probably 4 different staff come to our table over the course of the evening, all equally knowledgeable about not just the dish itself, but also where the contents of the dish came from.
Of course, this is a winery so you can't enjoy the meal without some wine - and the wine lived up to the meal, as well!
In addition to the 4 course tasting menu, they also do a 7-8 course "Taste of RRV". One of our neighbors at the table next to us got this, so I was curiously sneaking a peak at what he was getting. The menu seemed equally diverse and creative. It seems that there was some overlap in the dishes, but that tasting menu had a few more small dishes mixed in. They also offer a wine pairing with that for a bit more.
Overall, this was an amazing meal that I would definitely return for!
The food was very good. Would be nice to have a few more choices for both good and wine.
RRV Wine Lounge offers a variety of $$ small plates that worked well for adults & even an adventurous 2 1/2 year old. Their inviting dining patio provides sun / shade and easy conversation. A GREAT spot for superb Pinot Noir & light lunch!
Imaginative tasting menu, good value. Great service and ambience
The Restaurant has changed their dining options. Dinner is served only on Friday or Saturday nights. Although we weren’t there on those nights, the menu looked great - local products and seasonally changing menu. Check the website to see what is available. From noon to close, there is an appetizer/tapas type menu designed to pair with your Russian River Wine tasting. We ate outside, accompanied by our people/dog friendly dog who got to meet with the winery dog, Molly. We started with the duck confit which came wrapped in a crispy wonton wrapper, like an egg roll. The duck was very tasty and we liked the crunch of the wrapper. We also had the duck liver torchon which came with house made crackers. Very rich and creamy goodness. Our third appetizer was disappointing. The shrimp were tiny like bay shrimp and deep fried with a cornmeal crust/batter. We didn’t realize that Oregon pink shrimp were so tiny. The shrimp flavor was overwhelmed by the deep frying and cornmeal crust and it was difficult to tell this dish was made with shrimp at all. We ate it because it was crunch and deep fried - just not what we expected. We also had the salt & vinegar chips which were OK but could have been much better if served hot out of the fryer. This is a new menu so perhaps some of the offerings will change in the future. We miss having lunch though. Lovely relaxing setting outside under the redwoods. New indoor tasting room also available although not dog friendly.
You cannot beat going from brunch to wine tasting a few feet away. The farm to table inspired food is always tasty and creative. The views and ambiance make it a popular place. I always look forward to coming back.
The mushroom risotto did not have one mushroom in it. The halibut was greasy and salty with mystery vegetables and the dessert was a ridiculously large chocolate thing that did not in any way make up for the overpriced meal. the salad was the highlight of the meal. Sadly for $85 pp.
I wish the Russian River Vineyards had mentioned they were having a prix fix meal on their website, or when we made the reservation. It came as a surprise but since we were already there, we decided to go with it. Throughout the meal, however, I intermittently wondered if the chef was actually playing a joke because the food was so odd. I like experimental food but salad with granola? It tasted just like salad with granola. The sashimi and chicken mcnuggets needed a little more vision and the risotto was way too salty, as was the caviar foam. The portions were tiny (but covered in shoots and sprouts). The dessert was monumental, however. Huge! I guess to make up for the lack of food in the prior courses? We hardly needed the additional cookies after that. I've never written a bad food review, and to be fair, the waitstaff and atmosphere were lovely. Maybe it's just not a good idea to go to a farm to table restaurant in the middle of winter when nothing is growing. The carrot was good. Perhaps if they had indicated it would be a prix fix meal in the first place we wouldn't have felt so blindsided and our tastebuds would have felt more solicitous?
The Steak was outstanding . The butternut squash soup and. duck dish were quite unimpressive ( and vegetables were partially uncooked ). The wine was fantastic!!
5 of us went for lunch. Staff was attentive. Only 1 person of five truly enjoyed their meal. Fried pork sandwich was bland and greasy, which is sad because 3 people out of 5 got that. One person got mussels and was disappointed by the overwhelming flavor of only butter. The homemade chips that we all looked forward to were also a disappointment, bland and greasy like the fried pork. All the bread products were really good and the BLTurkey was delicious!
Squash soup was good. And the two salads consumed were also good. Great fresh ingredients!
I know this restaurant has always worked with their own outstanding garden bounty and much locally grown food and I've always appreciated that . The chef this day was uninspired.
We rarely have the funds to go out to the many fabulous restaurants in this area so when we do we need it to be a great experience. I don't feel I can recommend this to my wealthier clients who expect to pay for the lovely things in life.... like a great dining experience. And it will be a long while before I will try this place again, especially when there are so many other outstanding dining options in this area.
Had a friend in town and wanted to go somewhere she had not been to before. Russian River was a fabulous choice! The food was fantastic and service was great!
Went for friends birthday. Very disappointed overall. Food was just ok and the service was poor. Other tables seemed to get better service, but we felt forgotten. We got the dessert menu then no one came back so we asked for check and left.
Seasonal and creative farm to table food. Well executed. A new favorite restaurant for us. Attentive service.
Service was a little slow on a Saturday
Wonderful outdoor vibe.
Food was WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GOT!!!!!! We have been here many times and the food quality has really declined while the prices have doubled! Poor menu selection! We went for a VERY SPECIAL BIG BIRTHDAY SND WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!
Incredible everything. Wine is delicious, live music is awesome, food is superb. I got the coulotte; cheese board also A+. Can't wait to go back!
Our shared starter of mussels was excellent. My pork chops were tasty and husband's duck was average. Attentive service, beautiful outdoor setting. We'd go again.
We were visiting from Connecticut for the week. The winery was recommended to us. We loved the setting so we made dinner reservations for the following night. It was quite frankly the best meal we've had in years. If you're a wine lover try the charbono.
The food and ambience was great but they didn't even have a bottle of their own Sauvignon Blanc which is ridiculous for a restaurant that is at their vineyard. Fire the manager.
It is a beautiful setting, very interesting menu, with great food, well priced and excellent staff.
Beautiful place so different. Had a great guitarist that we enjoyed very much....he made the evening. The food was good, service slow. Would try it again to give a second chance on food.
Deliscious and pricey, excellent staff. Unique location. Save up your money for a special event
Great place for lunch outside.Right by the gardens where Veges are grown. Tries dinner. One outstanding dish was the octopus. The rest a little above average. Most would come back just to have the octopus.
I was looking for places for wine tasting & lunch with some friends who were passing through on their way to Mendocino. Wow. This was perfect. Casual outside dining on a beautiful patio. Wine tasting on site. Dog friendly (they even offered her a bowl of water!). Just a relaxed, casual, delicious afternoon with friends. I couldn't have asked for any better. It's a little on the expensive side, but the food was amazing. We were there on a Weds for lunch so I don't know how busy it gets on the weekends but I'm already planning on having someone take me to lunch for my birthday there!!!
We enjoyed this place a lot! The outside seating is so nice and tons of places to sit and sip wine. You can sit outside or inside for dinner. We chose inside which was a bit fancier than outside. Very fun place and the food was awesome!! Glad we took the drive!
I had the burrata cheese with green tomatoes which was excellent. I followed with a salad which was plain and I could have made at home. My husband had the pork sandwich which was thin pork schnitzel breaded on a thick bun.
Very pleasant patio, and pleasant service. The food was trying to be good, but was missing the mark. Everything had a manufactured quality rather than a hand-made quality. This is a pretend fine dining establishment. If you're driving down 116 and you want to take a break, have a small dish and a glass of wine, but don't bother to spend$100/pp to have a mediocre yet pretentious dinner. Nothing was served to us that I couldn't have done better, myself, at home.
Birthday lunch. Great place!
Wonderful off the beaten tourist track ...Patio under towering redwoods and live guitar background music ....
We had a relaxing lunch outside on the umbrella covered patio. The chilled pinot noir was delicious. I'd like to go back and try more things on the menu.
Wonderful ambience and great food and service! Lovely outdoor dining with great background live music
