The Restaurant at Russian River Vineyards Ratings and Reviews
Firstly, it is a beautiful setting in the wine country. We were outdoors on a perfect spring day which made the excellent lunch taste even better. Freshness abounds. The spring asparagus soup was perfectly simple. Beet salad and a cheese plate rounded out our meal. And check out the antique cars, especially the Packard.
Great place for dinner on a Spring evening! Portions were smallish but food was well-prepared, fresh and tasty. I recommend the Graton Ridge Chardonnay with the Chicken or Halibut. I live nearby and was delighted with the remodel which connected the wine tasting and restaurant areas. Come check out a new twist on this old classic West County fine dining establishment.
After an exquisite lunch here a few weeks ago I felt like I'd come to a completely different place. Other than the soup, dinner was uniformly disappointing and the service excruciatingly slow. Beautiful setting though, perhaps just an off-night in the kitchen.
I missed their biscuit (as bread) for the table. They decided to take them off and replaced with baguette and raisin's bread. But they are not fresh from their oven and quite disappointed 😔.
Overall food are good and a very enjoyable lunch with a wonderful warm day sitting in the garden.
Enjoyed a relaxing nice lunch at RRRV. My wife's vegetarian mushroom meal was outstanding. I am a hamburger aficionado and the hamburger was one of the best burgers that I have had -- great flavor and accompaniments. We also enjoyed a bottle of RRV pinot with our lunch. A little pricey, but quite nice. Beautiful grounds. You won't be disappointed.
The Restaurant at Russian River Vineyards hit a good balance between rusticity and elegance in food, wine and surroundings. It's simultaneously romantic and secluded, while also suitable for large gatherings, parties and kids. While we were dining in a small, quiet room looking out on a big beautiful patio, we could hear a birthday party in another area, I think in an upstairs room. They also had a talented guitarist playing on the patio. Extra points.
We'd been tasting all day and wanted only a glass of wine with dinner. They had a pretty good by the glass list, including two pinot noirs, so we decided to try each one. The sommelier brought the bottles to the table and said, "OK, who likes fruit-forward and who likes earthy?" She poured them and her description was bang-on. More extra points for that.
The food was good to very good. We started with the bread service, really good breads from a top local bakery with sweet whipped butter and fruity olive oil. We split a beet salad starter, with beets that tasted like they'd been picked that afternoon. Entrees were good as well. I had perfectly seared scallops, served on a sweetish reduction of something with crunchy celery bits that added texture and cut the sweetness a bit. The scallops weren't overwhelmed by the other flavors on the plate. My vegetarian partner who doesn't like mushrooms didn't have many options, so he went with the wild mushroom ragout after being assured it wouldn't taste like what comes from the supermarket. He practically licked the plate. We closed out with a good but rather ordinary flan with berries.
I probably wouldn't drive all the way to Forestville from San Francicso for dinner here, but my suggestion is that you just join the wine club and give yourself an excuse to head up for a meal. We were only there for a couple of hours but it felt like a real vacation.
My wife and I joined the Wine Club at Russian Rive Vineyards, in part, because of the perceived value of being able to enjoy what used to be Corks restaurant and enjoy our club discount. We have returned regularly (5-6 times/year) , alone and with friends, and through its transition to what is now called the Restaurant at Russian River Vineyards. They have done an amazing job transforming the outside and upgrading their interior dining area. Our meals have always been fabulous and reasonably priced. The perceived value was always great.
Times have changed. We decided to bring our daughter there to celebrate her birthday. The regular menu prices have increased substantially for food that is now far below the caliber of what we once enjoyed. I decided to order off of their Prix Fixe Restaurant Week menu.....the chicken. $39 for a leg (not even a 1/2 chicken like Monti's) , salad and dessert.... overpriced for the quantity and quality of what I received. A few days before we had the pleasure of enjoying Dry Creek Kitchen....Night & Day....fabulous meal...over the top. What happened to the Restaurant at Russian River Vineyards? It was once one of our favorite spots. Now their braised short ribs(a la carte) are $40....and the rest of the menu is equally over-priced.
All I can say is that they have overpriced themselves with a drop in quality. It has caused us to re-think our wine club membership....and we are struggling with giving them another chance, but leaning on the side of not going back. back, So sad,
We were in the valley for the Russian River Barrel tasting and this restaurant was recommended to us. We had 6 people and were seated at a wonderful round corner table where we could visit without any disruption. The server was outstanding and opened all the wines we brought with care and did not overpour at any time. I am looking forward to going to RR next year just to go back there. Special Note, it was my husbands birthday and they had a happy birthday and his name on the top of the printed menu.
The food was amazing! I've never had chicken that melted in my mouth. It was a stormy night and the restaurant was nearly empty. The chef came to our table and we were able to tell him how much we enjoyed our meal. The power went out as we were finishing our dessert and they were unable to generate our bill and, knowing we were local, asked if we could come by and pay the next day. We were escorted to our car by the chef and several staff members holding flashlights. A memorable evening indeed!
As always, I excitedly look forward to going to the Russian River Winery Restaurant to pick up my wine order (we are members) because I know I am in for a treat and I have never been disappointed. My husband & I shared a salad and the lamb stew and both were amazing and ample, plus enjoyed delicious bread & wine. The location is divine and we look forward to warmer, drier weather so we can sit outside amidst the beautiful redwood trees. I always need to mention that all the staff are incredibly friendly and always make one feel so welcome. Highly recommend this jewel of a winery & restaurant.
The very accomodating staff set up a table for us outside for lunch as we were traveling with our dog, Lily. The patio was normally closed for the winter but it was sunny and about 60 so we had a cozy lunch on the patio next to a patio heater, under the redwoods. I had the paparadelle with duck confit - the noodles were lovely - thin ribbons of homemade pasta that soaked up the flavors of the duck. My husband started with a sun artichoke soup - just right for the weather, then followed with a tasty pork shoulder sandwich. For desert, we shared a mango ice cream. The dining room is also a very nice place to dine, with large windows looking out to the patio and redwoods. I would recommend for a date or special occasion without hesitation. Or lunch either before or after wine tasting, although you might not want to leave!
Arrived early so participated in delicious wine tasting. Dinner was absolutely amazingly scrumptious and wait people were friendly & knowledgeable. Overall enjoyable dining experience. We have also eaten lunch & dinner outside in the summer amidst the redwood trees - a must for anyone & everyone.
This restaurant was recommended to us by friends and we were so happy to have had the chance to experience this lovely restaurant. The service we received from Andrew was super, and the food absolutely delicious from appetizer to main meal to dessert. Highly recommend :)
The Restaurant at Russian River Vineyards generously donated half of their proceeds on December 1st to a local food bank. A group of friends and I were introduced to the restaurant through the non-profit and looked forward to our evening out. The wine list is impressive and those in my group that fancy themselves sommeliers, were in Heaven.
The Owner Chris came by our table and introduced himself, making sure that our meals were everything we wanted. He is such an amiable man, I didn't have the heart to tell him that everything on my plate was overdone (how do you burn toast?) and there is no way I'd ever return...
The other folks in my group also had issues of varying levels w/their meals. I will not discuss those b/c they weren't my personal experience and they can review the restaurant if they care enough to expand.
Beautiful location, obviously a generous owner but in Sonoma County there are too many amazing meals to return to this particular site. Thanks!
Great new chef at the Russian River Vineyard and Restaurant. Everything we tried was well prepared and used fresh ingredients from the on property farm. Great wine selection that goes beyond the Russian River Vineyard. We were there on a Saturday night and they had a great solo musician playing.
Amazing local ingredients and service.
I stopped by for dinner with my younger son while my older one was at soccer practice at El Molino H.S. Having lived in Santa Rosa for almost 7 years, I can't believe I haven't visited until now.
The burrata/radish salad was amazing as was our server Rocio (? spelling). Looking forward to many more visits.
Russian River Vineyards is literally in the middle of nowhere.
That said, the entrees and service were excellent, and the wine was good. The lady singing various covers of well-known titles was an acquired taste. Some may characterize it as annoying.
I was concerned given the bad reviews in the 2013-2015 time frame. But thankfully my wife and I had a great time. The beef short ribs were the best I've had. I'd say best beef dish I've had ever (comparing it to a Snake River wagyu from Wolfgang Puck's Cut which cost almost three times as much). Well worth the drive.
Though it rained earlier in the day and patio seating wasn't optional, the indoor dining was still charming and the food was excellent! I had their short ribs which the waiter recommended and indeed, it was tender and cooked to perfection. The octopus salad was also quite delightful and delicious. My date had the pork chops which was a generous serving and he cited it was tasteful. We enjoyed our meal & especially the attentive friendly staff.
A friend and I met in Santa Rosa to ride the Levi's Gran Frando together and were looking for a place to eat dinner and have some wine after the event on Saturday. The restaurant is currently doing a small amount of construction but it didn't detract from the setting or experience. We sat on the patio on a brisk night and it was quiet and serene. The service was excellent with everyone very attentive to making sure that we had a good evening. In particular, the young woman assisting us with the wine was both knowledgeable and engaging.
The food had a number of a familiar items although most were prepared with a twist. It was very good although given my food palate some of the variations were lost on me. Their 2014 Horseridge Vineyard Pinot Noir was the wine star of the night and I am not generally a pinotphile.
After dinner, we moved to the tasting area and tasted their line-up of wines some of which were outstanding. Leaving the wine tasting area open until 8:00 was also definitely a plus! I look forward to returning and taking my wife to the restaurant next time we're in the area.
After touring several wineries in the area, we arrived at the Russian River Vineyards around 4:30 and didn't leave until after 8:00 p.m. - we loved it so much we didn't want to leave! We began our time there with a wine tasting and snack. The wine was wonderful and the cheese board that we ordered was the perfect complement. Everyone was so warm and friendly...we were invited to choose a spot to sit for our tasting, which was a nice change from the more formal atmospheres that wineries often offer when tasting. We settled on a cozy seating area on the beautiful outdoor patio that they have and spent the next hour and a half enjoying samplings of several different wine selections from their vineyards, while listening to a charming, talented guitar player/singer (Karen, I believe her name was) that performed for most of the time that we were there. The music and the wines were all superb! When finished, we had a little time before our dinner reservation, so we were encouraged to explore the vineyards, which was amazing. It was so neat to be able to walk through the rows of grape vines...truly a special experience. We finished off the evening with dinner, dessert, and coffee. The food was fresh and delicious. Everything was absolutely perfect! The Russian River Vineyards were our favorite vineyard during our trip to Sonoma and their restaurant offered one of our favorite dining experiences as well. A big thank you to the friendly, professional staff...we sure hope to be back someday!
