The decision to eat outside, under a tent, on a 85 degree day sadly diminished the quality of otherwise exceptionally prepared food. I can only hope this decision was due to a malfunctioning AC in enclosed dining area. The constant swatting of gnats and flies over the $85 per head food ruined the experience that this restaurant is known for delivering. While Mother Nature is Mother Nature and not everyone is high maintenance eating outside, the lack of attention to detail on water refill and specialty cocktails only compounded the poor decision to dine al fresco. If outside eating was the plan, please promote in advance so customers can prepare accordingly or look elsewhere. Thank you.

The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm has long been considered one of the best dining locations in Northern Virginia and the entire DMV area. Even though I have been aware of this fact for several years, I had not been to the there yet, even though it was only about 10 miles away from home. As of this past Saturday, this streak ended. My wife and I went for lunch/brunch. Because the weather was perfect, all of the seating was outside on the tent covered patio. The view is incredible, with the Patomac River and the bridge connecting VA to MD in the not so far distance. The server was so pleasant; friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable. Though we did not get a chance to enjoy the full tasting menu, we did have a fantastic 3 course lunch, along with bread service. The bread was fresh, hot, house-made English muffins, which were perfect. Served with homemade butter, fresh honey, and coarse salt. For the dishes, I will not go into all details, but my wife and purposely ordered different dishes for each course, as we often do, to by able to try a wider variety of the chefs creations. The stand out dish of what we sampled was the Chicken Liver Parfait, which was amazingly good. Also great, was the Berry Tart. I should note that all of the dishes were very good. In summary, everything was amazing, and we will definitely be back to the Restaurant at Patowmac Farm. Hopefully next time to experience the full tasting menu during dinner service.

the ambiance was lovely both inside and out, with a lovely view. We felt that the small bites were too small; we really liked a couple of them, but wanted more of those; others were less interesting. We also felt that the presentation was a bit too precious. The servers were attentive and helpful, but somewhat too involved in detailed presentation. We had a question about the wine and the server went to ask the sommelier rather than asking him/her to come to the table to discuss with us directly.

We did have a very nice evening, not rushed and found much to talk about concerning the dinner, but would not come again.

This place is truly exceptional! From the hostess, the waiters, the bar staff and the amazing cook, I can't say enough. We discovered The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm a few years ago and fell in love with the location, the owner, and the amazing food and service! You never know what will be on the menu but I can say I have tried everything that has been put in front of me and can not think of anything that I wasn't amazed at how good it was! Chef Tarver, must sit up nights thinking of how to mix ingredients and tastes to blow your mind! We loved it so much we were married there in the gazebo overlooking the Potomac River four years ago. It was then that Beverly (the owner) became part of our family too!

If you want an exceptional meal, amazing view and superb service - Join Beverly, Tarver and the staff at Patowmack Farm!

We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and this was our first time here; so glad we chose it. The many food courses served on the fixed price menu were delicious, imaginative, and beautifully plated. The serving staff was friendly, but professional. The owner was also on hand to greet us as well as chat for a moment. The location, view, and ambiance can't be beat. For sure it is not an inexpensive evening, but the quality of the food and experience was in line with the cost.

It was an overcast rainy day which was perfect in the glass dining room. The service was on point and the food came at a great pace. The way the food is presented and served is not ground breaking for a tasting menu but it’s still thoughtful and beautiful. The food was all delicious and so much of it had so much depth. Delicious. Do it.

This venue is fantastic. We are foodies and this is one of the most creative and innovative restaurants we have visited in the country. Most visitors come for the scenic drive and the fantastic views, which are great. But what will bring us back is the inventive cuisine, a gastronomic delight, prepared well and served creatively. The tasting menu is a creative tour of Virginia and the mid-atlantic, using local ingredients. Wine list is limited, but the selections are value priced and go well with the menu. If you want a Minibar experience in a country setting, this place is for you.

We have been here several times over the years for special occasions and Beverly and her staff (not to mention the Chef) makes each occasion special. Each course comes with its own story and yes the staff really is knowledgeable. Each course is a tasting size and is a surfaces contradictory flavors and textures I would not have thought of... a minor criticism is the by the end our palets were surfaited... we could have done with one less course --- ah, but the four of us couldn't agree as to which course we would have dropped.

Patowmack Farm continues to be a unique dining experience. Service is impeccable and each of many plates in a progressive dinner is incredibly creative and delicious. The ingredients and their flavors are incredibly complex, and each server is professionally practiced in reciting the careful and complex blending and, if relevant, the ingredients' heritage from Native Americans. The outdoor patio was fortunately open the first time this season with perfect weather to enjoy the Potomac River's Iron Bridge at Rte. 15.

Once again this restaurant created an awesome experience for a special occasion. We came for lunch on our anniversary and truly enjoyed the fabulous ambience and eclectic menu. A genuine farm to table highlighting local producers this kitchen always turns out innovative spins on seasonally available ingredients, a delight to taste and view!From our opening cocktails to our creatively fashioned desserts this was an amazing experience. If you are skeptical to splurge on the prix fixe dinner, lunch is a terrific option to sample all this place has to offer. We will be back!!

What a wonderful, unique, inventive restaurant! We made reservations to celebrate my birthday, and even though it was an hour’s drive away, it was well worth the time to get there and back home. We chose the wine pairings with the tasting menu. Each pour was a nice complement, although for me, too much of a pour to get through all six. I especially liked the rustic presentations and the explanation cards that servers gave to us with each course. Every course was outstanding. Top Standouts included the chicken with birch sap and the arugula soup with edible spring flowers. It was a lovely ending to be presented with a shadow box of additional sweet treats to celebrate my birthday.
The down to earth and amiable serving staff worked as a team to create a seamless evening. In contrast, we found our main waitress over the top in dramatizing most everything she said; we just rolled with her over enthusiasm.
All in all, this is one restaurant not to be missed, especially for a special occasion.

Fantastic! Imaginative menu in tune with the season. Superbly and repaired and served. Very personal and professional wait staff; among the best in the world. Each course receives a presentation and a card about the area or the course.

Just a very comfortable meal where the chef and staff respect the ingredients. You eat in what was a greenhouse overlooking the Point of Rocks bridge across the Potomac River. A destination you want to make often.

One of the best meals I've ever had. period. And I've had a lot of meals.

We enjoyed a mid-week progressive dinner at Patowmack. The food was meticulously prepared from local (including the farm) and regional sources. This was a multi-course dinner. Each course was exceptional. All 7 of them.

The service was great. The staff was attentive, but not over bearing. We got to sit and enjoy every bite. The menu changes nearly daily.

The presentation was intricate and well thought through.

When making your reservation you can provide dietary restrictions. They are very accommodating.

This was a truly special meal. Every course was inventive and beautifully prepared using ingredients mostly foraged or raised on the farm or locally. There was so much variety. I also appreciated learning the history of the food and the region. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. I choose the wine pairing and each selection was tasty and well suited for the pairing. Really can’t wait to go again during a different season for another adventure.

This is more than dinner, it’s a dining experience. They have created an atmosphere that is unlike any I’ve encountered. The attention to detail is second to none. Coming from DC I’ve paid three times as much for a meal that was a third of the experience I received here. One warning, after eating here you will be disappointed with similarly priced meals in the future. I can’t wait to revisit this summer.

The experience here involves all senses. Every detail is crafted to put the diner in a frame of mind to have the intended experience. The exclusivity of the location. The understated but elegant decor. The attentive but not intrusive wait staff. The instant familiarity of the greeting upon arrival. The detailed discussions before each course. The visual appearance of each dish, the aromas of the food, the feel of each bite, and the blend of the flavors all creates a celebration of eating and appreciation for the vision which the chef creates through food. One dines here not simply to eat but instead to absorb harmony.

Everything was wonderful! We decided to go to lunch as some of the members of our group were not adventurous diners and preferred the ala carte options. The dining room looks very rustic and airy, the music wasn't loud so you could enjoy your conversations, the service was top notch. The servers really knew the food and were able to describe it well. The food itself was creative and delicious. I look forward to coming back during another season when the garden is in full swing.

This restaurant exceeded our expectations. From the owner, Beverly, and her involvement with the experience to the creativity of each course, we had a fantastic time. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. In addition, the wine pairings were nicely accomplished. We will surely return.
