We have been vacationing in Maui during 9 visits over 34 years. Our typical length of stay is two weeks, so we have dined at many, many restaurants around the island. This is the first time we have experienced what we consider fine dining. There are major brand name restaurants, several with over sized portions, a couple have true ambiance and some with a few tasty ingredients. However, this experience included outstanding service, creative and delicious food, quiet atmosphere, and a sunset from a higher vantage point, including an AWESOME sunset.

This is now our favorite, but those interested will have to find out themselves. If you do, we hope that you will appreciate it like we did.

Beautiful setting in architecturally interesting building. Service was gracious (Hostess offered black napkin for my wife’s dark dress and pashmina shawl due to cool evening. ) Food (scallops ) was excellent with imaginative preparation. Only negative we’re the direction provided by Open Table that sent us in the opposite direction from the restaurant location and could have been more serious had we not been familiar with the area.

We had a wonderful experience at The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea. The service was impeccable, the wine was superb, and spectacular views. The highlight of my dinner was the tomato salad and the chocolate molten lava cake. Thanks to Kristen and Ben for helping to make our anniversary celebration a wonderful memory!

Probably my favourite restaurant in Maui so far, ahead of Mama, Spago, Millhouse etc. Amazing views, great ambiance, attentive servers, good menu, great food.

Really liked the snack starters, go for 6 of them. Tea was also really nice. Lobster was nicer than the Scallops.

Excellent and friendly service by Chris, Frank, Samson. Terrific sunset view. Relaxing quiet setting. Starters (kanpachi crudo; truffle risotto; grilled tako/octopus), mains excellent: Ribeye, Maine lobster, lamb chops, steamed fish of the day. Chocolate Napoleons for dessert.

Wine prices did not reflect the quality of the wine. Food and pricing was in line with food quality.

Fantastic from start to finish ! We began with the 3 " snacks " such a sense of humor !
Then we had 4 items off the starter list - my favorite was the Ahi Tataki with the French Black Truffles on top. There are no words !
Entrees were incredible - the whole steamed fresh Hawaiian fish & the American Wagyu Eye of Ribeye - melted in your mouth.
The waitstaff is perfect - there when you needed anything with the perfect answer to any question.
The view is the best in Wailea.
We love Mama's Fish House but this far surpasses it.
The Chef is a wizard and far too modest.
DO NOT MISS !

We came as a family to Maui and for the first time did not have a family member with us to watch our littles. As such, we decided to try three nice restaurants over the course of our two weeks in Maui. In looking at reviews we choose Hotel Wailea. The restaurant and view were beautiful; it almost felt like a remote getaway but had a nice Oceanview. However, the menu was limited compared to the other nice restaurants and sadly, the service was almost rude :(. The food was excellent, even though the options were limited.

The food was fantastic and had some of the best flavors around. The portions for the price however was the only downfall. After spending $200 on a meal for two ,without any alcohol, leaving a bit hungry was disappointing. The price should have been half or the portions double.

On a side not the Oysters were the best on the island and the only item that we found not to be disappointing in price or portion.

The setting is lovely. Our meal was excellent and our waiter was very helpful. One small disappointment was that the only choice for "local catch" was a steamed fish dish.

If you are thinking about going, and can afford it (expensive but not crazy for Maui), just go. Trust me. Wonderful in so many ways.

Anything less than FANTASTIC would be unfair. It was a memory. My wife and I are both foodies, and we both were extremely impressed. I had the catch of the day. She had the scallops. The sauces were to die for! I would recommend it to anyone.

We dined here for my wife's birthday which turned out to be a big mistake. Long story short, the restaurant did not deliver on what was discussed and we were very disappointed to say the least.

The manager on duty that night at the restaurant was very nice about the situation and took care of our meal but that wasn't necessary. What we really wanted was for them accommodate out dietary needs as we were told they would and they completely failed.

We were in contact with the hotel well in advance of our arrival about it (after being told that's all you need to do and they will make arrangements), we even confirmed when we checked into the hotel but unfortunately, nothing was done. Frustrating and upsetting experience.

We went to the restaurant for Valentines Day. They featured a Prix Fix menu for $125.00 per person. The starter and soup were delicious. Unfortunately, the porterhouse steak for two, which looked wonderful, was overcooked, without flavor and served cold. A very disappointing experience. It should have been much better for the price.

My wife and I chose to have Valentine’s dinner here and it was worth every penny. Amber and April went above and beyond to take care of us all night. The porterhouse we shared was one of the three best steaks I have ever tasted. Every course of the meal was divine. The food was perfectly complemented by the ambiance.

We loved everything about our Valentine’s day dinner. The food was the best we’ve experienced on Maui. Plated beautiful, the flavor combinations were remarkable. Every bite was a treat. The service was attentive, warm, welcoming and extremely professional, with each course timed perfectly. The setting is exquisite. This is expensive, but fine dining at its best. Every element of the experience is thought through-a perfect evening.

Paid $200 for two people. We ordered the Tako appetizer, I ordered the Wagyu steak, my wife the salmon. Also ordered two cocktails.
Pros:
- Ambiance was outstanding, incredible views of Maui, restaurant located in the incredible Hotel Wailea.
- One of my two cocktails was of the quality you would expect from a high priced restaurant, it was a bourbon based one.
- My wife thought her salmon was pretty good.

Cons:
- For me it was standard American fare with fancy presentation and flavors that were expected, nothing mind blowing, and certainly achievable at many restaurants for much lower prices.
- My steak was ordered medium rare, it was medium.. which is fine, because the quality of the meat was excellent. It's just...there wasn't much else going on in the dish, in my opinion. There was a potato-like substance underneath the meat which was nice but also sparse.
- Sparse actually is a good word to use for this restaurant: They gave us two small Hawaiian rolls to start. We asked for refills multiple times because they kept coming out with two small rolls.
- The Tako appetizer was one relatively small arm of an octopus. Look, I weight 155 lbs, my wife 120, we dont eat much. This was just not much food for the price! The flavor was good, but nothing else going on besides just the grilled flavor.
- I thought, for the location and price, the cocktails were not amazing. I ordered a drink called the Girl from Wailea or something to that effect...very sweet. The bourbon drink I got was fine, nothing special.

Overall:
I just don't like paying $200 for what amounts to standard American fare at a restaurant that dresses itself up as an incredible experience, but doesn't match up to it's incredible views or price.
