The food was excellent as was our server and server’s assistant. However, my expectations at a Relais & Chateaux affiliated restaurant is an impeccable overall experience and this was not it. We had made reservations two days in advance and I had called to confirm. We were told we would be seated in their beautiful garden. When we got there, they didn’t seat us until 20 minutes after our reservation. They tried to seat us in their bar seating - which was empty due to COVID. I’m not sitting in the bar to eat a $125 prixe fix meal. Then we waited for awhile and they sat us on the wall side of a balcony - would be a great spot at 6:30 for sunset, but it didn’t have the romantic ambiance of the garden. The other major issue was the food pacing was incredibly slow- I recognize timing is a fine art but this was noticeably slow, noticeably late. And we kept getting served after people who had arrived after us. I get that these things happen but again- if you have the R&C badge, I’m expecting excellence. Food wise, it’s worth going (the food is very, very good), but be prepared for hiccups.
Wonderful place. Nice table outside in the garden. The music could have been softer.
This property feels like you're in a James Bond movie! Truly exotic and stunning atmosphere. The access is a little unapproachable but we eventually figured out you need to wait at the closed gates. The attendants for valet parking were absent so we self parked and when we walked up they were a bit aloof and cold but once we entered the restaurant everything was perfect! Excellent service and elevated food! Not to mention a beautiful sunset! Truly memorable! (And I never review anything!)
Great ambiance, service and food!
Amazing food service and view.
The menu had potential. We always enjoy fresh seafood. The special fish had a cumin sauce. My husband and I felt cumin on a delicate fish can be overpowering so we chose not to order this. The waiter said the other fish preparation did not have cumin. We ordered this. Beautiful preparation but cumin in this dish also. The waiter did ask the chef after we stated it had it in it and low and behold, Cumin. We were not offered any replacement but at the end of the meal they offered desert. The entire experience was ruined for us. We will not go back.
I made a reservation thru Open Table...they corresponded with me several times before our dinner...we were seated in a very intimate, private setting at 5:45 so we could view the sunset, our waitress was very professional, but engaging and interested in each member of our party. The food and presentation were beyond outstanding. The wine list is extensive with many price points. We would definitely recommend this wonderful restaurant to any and everyone. A definite treat when you visit Wailea!
Was wonderful and we will return!
Excellent ambience, food and service!!! Very accommodating and friendly!
This place was absolutely amazing. Some of the best food we have ever had. 10/10
Visited this restaurant exactly a year ago and loved it. Since then, it seems to have gotten much more expensive, with a limited menu, and the meal was not at all impressive. I had the four course meal, and only one of the four courses would I ever order to eat again, that being the main course which was a fillet steak. Otherwise, very small sized, odd portions of everything else. Not worth the money!
The horrible service was so disappointing that it took away from the beautiful atmosphere and great food.
We really enjoyed the new style of menu, The new chef has done an outstanding job pairing ingredients. Everything about our dining experience was perfect including our the great service we received from Ben.
We looking forward to a return visit soon
Amazing ambience and good food. Service was lacking, and our waiter completely forgot to deliver our second course. Never had that happen before.
Had to wait 15 minutes after our reservation time. Bar staff was great-they asked if we wanted drinks while we waited. Service was good-very attentive... though took a little while before they took our order and asked if we wanted beverages. We didn’t feel rushed, great balcony seating, food was courses out well every 20 min or so. Order the Lilikoi Martini-one of the best martini’s I’ve ever had! Beef Tartare was delicious, the goat cheese strawberry tart was amazing, and the raspberry chocolate cake.
Excellent food, well crafted and plated.
Service was perfect, everyone at the Hotel is very friendly and nice.
Amazing experience, food amd service.
Choosing from a ‘set menu’ because of Covid is understandable. The choices we had were fine, not outstanding. The hardest element to the evening was whipping cool wind that made it quite difficult to enjoy what was to be a extra special dinner out with my husband. The restaurant has not designed the seating for protection from wind, and in this case it pretty much ruined the evening. Many diners were changing tables, trying to get more pleasant spots, though there apparently are very few good choices when windy. Our server was pleasant, and we were hurrying our evening so we could finish & get out of the cold. After main course there was a long 25 minute wait with no dessert, no attention. Finally we caught the attention of our waiter, mentioning that dessert had never come but we wanted to leave as we were really cold.(thankfully I had a shawl or it would have been unbearable.). He returned in a few minutes to inform us there had been a ‘crash’ with desserts, and they were rebaking them. Kindly he offered to take desserts off our bill, bring us one dessert, and give a discount to total bill. Clearly we appreciated the gesture of apology and discount. All in all, food we had was tasty though not fantastic, and sadly the atmosphere was a tremendous disappointment. Conditions more like ruffing it for a picnic than a expected 5 star dining evening. Don’t go when windy & bring layers! We’ve dined here 4 times, 2 were good experiences, 2 were not. Hopefully they will be more consistent after the Covid struggle.
Wonderful Wonderful evening! That view! The exquisite food! And such friendly service. Was a marvelous evening for a birthday dinner. We all had a different dish each course & everyone felt theirs was the best. Can’t wait to go back!
The perfect evening. The food was exquisite, the service was great (thank you Bob, I mean Ian😉) and the atmosphere and ambiance was romantic. And all with the backdrop of a Hawaiian sunset over the Pacific. This is a “don’t miss” Maui dining experience.
Beautiful!
Great view. Food is superb and server was excellent
The 4-course price fixe menu was stunningly good. We each tried something different to get the full range: Papaya salad/crudo, pork belly/scallop, papardelle/flank steak, poached pear/tiramisu. All fantastic. Highly recommend.
The food was good, but not great. Fine for the price. The atmosphere was very nice. Our server was disappointing, as she disappeared for long stretches and was not very attentive. I would recommend for atmosphere, but not for service.
Excellent.
Absolutely excellent.
Don’t miss it!
It’s incredible food.
Excellent service. Pork belly was way undercooked. Was chewy and we spit it out. Maybe if they deep fried it afterwards. But the service was really good and the restaurant is nice. The view is amazing. Bread was delicious, pasta and the beef cheek were my fave. Big portions and a ton of food. I don’t know why people were complaining about it was to small. Overall the food is really good here.
Great setting and amazing presentation. Food was par.
Loved the ambiance and the service was excellent.
Very intimate Setting
Last night on Maui. Our 3 course meal was perfect in all respects. Perfect view, ambiance, food and service. We can’t wait to go back and try the things on the menu we did not order.
Food quality and service was outstanding. Absolutely loved the four course tasting menu. The best dining experience all week, a perfect way to wrap up an amazing family vacation.
Celebrated a birthday. Beautiful sunset view, overlooking the ocean, quiet, romantic, delicious food and drinks! Malani & Frankie took amazing care of us. They both went above and beyond to ensure our evening and experience was outstanding! Can’t wait to dine again.
A bit of a disappointing visit this time. Portions were small and very over priced. We had the sashimi as an appetizer, the scallops (only 2 pieces) and the charred cabbage. All dishes seemed overly sweet and wondered if sugar or honey was added. Wine list was marginal and specialty cocktail "Smoke and Herb" not interesting and also too sugary. Best thing on the menu was a chocolate martini. I know they were busy but we won't be back and paid nearly $300 for 3 very tiny dishes(tapa size) and 4 drinks! The view was wonderful but not worth it since other resorts have better food and just as good views!
This was an incredible experience. I had let them know that it was my partners birthday and each person that came to our table said 'happy birthday' to her. It really made the evening special. The food was exquisite and their wine list is substantial. The price point for four courses was well worth the money and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating in Maui.
Food was okay but for the price and hype expected more. Scallop appetizer was the highlight of meal. Reservations were also running 15-20 minutes behind and although the restaurant can’t control this no accommodations or drinks were offered while waiting 20 mins in lobby.
The price fixe menu provided plenty of options. The food preparation and plating were excellent. Our waitperson, Darin, was knowledgeable and helpful.
The limitation was: Except for the entree, the portions were small given the overall price. For example, the single thin scallop for the second course, while done perfectly, was simply too small or a second one was needed.
The food, for the price, was just okay.
The real problem, however, was the loud people at the next table. Soon after we were seated, we noticed a couple already seated nearby as they got up and left in a hurry. The woman glanced over at the noisy table and looked away quickly, frowning. She wanted out of there, now. We should have taken their quick departure as a warning. After a few minutes we were frowning, too, because of the noise being generated by the two couples at the table next to ours. And they got louder, still, with the next round of cocktails.
We asked to be reseated. Instead of moving us, the host/manager/maître d came over to "talk" to the noisy table, I'm guessing to quiet them down by modeling a quieter "inside" voice, or something similar. Unfortunately, a louder, even more boisterous conversation ensued that included the host. Our waitress laughed nervously. Grumble.
Finally we were moved to the far end of the dining area, closer to the bar. No apology of any kind was given. As we took our new table, the bartender casual mentioned to us, "Yeah, I can hear them from all the way over here." Hmmm.
Had the food had been spectacular, the whole awkward, uncomfortable incident might have been overlooked. The food was not spectacular.
Christmas dinner
Romantic and unique
Great food and service. Very elegant and did a great job taking care of my father who is in a wheelchair
