We have been Burdick's fans for many years, visiting several times yearly in all seasons and for many special occasions. We were never disappointed by the service, the ambiance, or the food. Last night none of these features rated highly. The decor has changed from charming to really unattractive art, with high prices labeled for prospective purchase. The service was lackadaisical and the servers were obviously uninterested in their clients. Two fish selections were already gone when we arrived at 7:15 and there was little apology and no accommodation. When our orders arrived, we found them very pedestrian compared to previous culinary experiences here. There was no attempt to offer more bread and we had to ask for more water and butter as a tiny serving was inadequate for 4 diners. And at the end, the plain bitter chocolate, in tiny bits, was no comparison to the Burdick's treats offered in the past. We found the pricing has also changed and the quality of the food does not match the price. We are now bidding a sad farewell to happier memories of Burdick's.

We had a lovely lunch with friends. I had the Ken's salad which was fresh and perfect. The salmon was a generous portion, crispy and juicy. We came on a weekday and it was not crowded. We were able to keep the table for more than an hour and enjoy the lovely ambiance. The service was fine, all in all worth the trip.

This was our second time and we were a little disappointed; mostly with the service. I think, perhaps, the waiter was new. He did not know what the soup de jour was, we were not told about the daily specials (we heard them from another waitress after our food was delivered), and our waiter seemed devoid of any personality. The food was very good as it was last time. This was a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived. it is a very nice place and we will surely try it again, but this night was a let down.

We were disappointed with the food quality. It was not like the 'old' Burdicks restaurant at all. We really loved the experience last year. Just not the same. We probably won't go back unless we need some chocolate.

The front of the house and kitchen staff were outstanding, polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Cocktails-delicious. Mohito was on point. Apps- Great selection. Had a cheese selection, brie was perfect creamy, crostini with honey drizzle, yummy, strawberry/rhubarb jam, perfect, nuts, great finish. Oysters were wonderful, not overly briny. Dinner-Duck,wow. Sweetbreads, beef stew. All exceeded our expectations. Wine-good selection, great advice. Overall a gem. Can't wait to return.

We visited Burdicks with our friends who were staying with us for the weekend. The restaurant has a distinctively French vibe, with food and decor reminiscent of a Parisian bistro. The craft cocktails are wonderful. The menu, while not extensive, has several offerings that are authentically French. The mussels and charcuterie plate as appetizers are delicious. We enjoyed the roast chicken, beef stew, short ribs and salmon. Leave room for dessert. Burdicks is known for their chocolate and they do not disappoint. "Harvard Square" is worth the calories!

We enjoy lunch here a couple times a year and always have a delicious meal. The beef stew and steak are especially good. I now order the beef stew even though I rarely eat red meat because it is excellent. If you like French cuisine I think you will enjoy this place. Also, the rustic bread is tasty especially dipped in a cup of dark hot chocolate. The service is always good and often excellent as it was on this visit. This visit we had the opportunity to have a private conversation but when the restaurant is busy if the folks at the next table are not quiet it's not as enjoyable since some of the tables are close together. I've learned to make a reservation for an early lunch so I can pick a table I like. We drive an hour and a half to go and we aren't sorry we did. We always stop at the chocolate shop next door to pick up dessert or chocolate for later. And the Walpole grocery store has some fine items. Burdick's is expensive for a lunch but it's a lovely treat!

We have been to Burdick's several times before and always had a great meal. Unfortunately we left disappointed this time. The food was so-so and the service was clumsy (i.e., nobody came over to check if we needed water, it took 1.5 hours before we received our food while we saw people who came in before us eat and leave). The only highlight was the dessert which should be a given since they're a chocolatier. We're not sure if it was a bad night but in the past we would go way out of our way to come here, looking forward we will likely explore other options closer to wherever we may be.
