Prices are high due to being a hotel restaurant but the food is excellent and so is the staff. Went back a second time during the week for drinks and appetizers. Will be on the must list for the next trip to the island. Also, patio space is dog friendly. Watch the waves with your pups, drinks and food. Can't get better than that!
My wife and I went to The Reserve Steak House for the first time for her Mother's Day special dinner. Our server, Elizabeth, was very attentive and had a great personality. The menu prices were higher than we were used to, but the portions were generous and the food was exceptional and excellently prepared. We will certainly go back for special occasions.
We completely loved our experience. I noted in our reservation that we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and as soon as our server came over, she wished us a happy anniversary. The meal was beyond amazingly delicious. After dinner our server asked if we wanted her to take our photo, she even took us outside to do so. We loved everything about our meal.
It started on a bad note. Business meeting for 6 and made reservations well in advance with specific detail about menu as budget constraints. Made reservations early in the evening so those who wanted to choose the really fab early value menu could do so. Hostess when seating us said it is not available to such a large party and I am certain I would hVe told you. I was very specific when asking questions when I booked.
Well the waiter recovered for her and got us exactly what we were expecting. Some ordered off the early menu and some colleagues ordered from regular menu.
We ordered several appetizers and each one was wonderful. Wine selection very good. All the meals were excellent and raved about. This is our 4th time at this restaurant and the food is worth coming back every time.
Much of the food was uninspired, tasteless. Service was absent.
Absolutely delicious! Started with fried shrimp appetizer— the breading light and delicate and the beer I’ve ever had. The steak and lobster was out of this world! Food is worth the expense, but we definitely could’ve shared a meal—large portions for women. Perhaps perfect for a man. Service was smooth and polite. Excellent dining experience!
Group of 4. Filets ordered medium rare were actually medium to well. They were dry for “prime”...would have thought choice cuts
Service was somewhat sloppy. Too quick to have us order after cocktails served.
When serving, reaching across people to present food/drinks instead of coming around to individuals
Had New York strip medium rare and they got it right. Wife had filet medium rare, they got it right. Three berry cheese cake was good. Had coffee and one glass of wine. Expect to pay, but it's worth it for a quiet restaurant where people dress decently and don't smell funny at the beach! Good show. We will be back one day.
Our server was delightful. Very attentive and personable. We wanted and waited for nothing. Our food was delicious. We were a party of 7. Two loved the Shrimp and Grits with the perfect amount of heat. One had the pork chop, another the trout, salmon and a steak. Everyone said their meal was cooked to perfection. The Brussel Sprout side was also well done.
If there was anything that didn't measure up it was the desserts. The creme brulee was cold and not the worst I've ever had but close. The chocolate cake was a 2 inch square, one bite each for the couple sharing dessert.
Drinks and selections good.
Vacation first time at Jekyll Island
Outstanding food from bread to dessert. Service was wonderful!
Our visit was like Morton Steak House meets Dennys. The food was OK as you might expect for $52 for steak and lobster and $30 for grouper but the service was awful. The steak was cooked properly but not worth the money. Waited 30 minutes for our proper drink order. We were sat by an outside door where people came in and out constantly. Our suggestion for a romantic, impressive evening is to go to The Grand Dining Room at Jekyll Island Club. We wish we had
Nice atmosphere. Attentive service and waitstaff. Food was excellent. Very nice view of the beach. Comfortable seating. They even made an effort to acknowledge that the purpose of our visit was our wedding anniversary
The two of us made a great dinner out of a selection of 6 apps, soups and salads. Our waiter was really good. He orchestrated the delivery of these both professionally and like he was our friend.
Filet Mignon seems always to be done to perfection. Salmon was nicely prepared also. The main complaint my partner and i would say that the food is much too salty and over garlicy. Serving size is quite adequate. It is pricey but that is known going through the door. we also learned that we can take our dog in the summertime if we eat outside on the patio so that will be an extra plus for us.
My husband and I were staying at the hotel for the evening for a kidless getaway. To not drink and drive we ate at The Reserve. Cons: the French onion soup was horrible. The broth had zero flavor and the provolone on top was nothing different than a slice of deli cheese from the local grocery store. I think Outback serves a better French onion. The oysters Rockefeller was nothing out of this world either to make up for the soups. Pros: Wilton was our server and he is highly recommended!!! My husband had the filet and I had the pork chop. Both agreed best pork chop and steak we have had in a long time. Flavors were juicy, great portion and served just right! We were allowed to bring our own bottle of wine, which was nice. Overall our experience was very good, would totally go back!
The bar area was undergoing floor renovations. A great deal of noise
Exceptional service but food was just okay and very expensive.
My wife and I both had the prime filet with the house salad. My wife had roasted brussel sprouts as her side and I had creamed spinach. Everything start to finish was excellent. Service was superior, food was done perfectly. I would definitely recommend the Reserve for a great meal.
The service and atmosphere were outstanding. The steaks- not so much. My wife’s tenderloin was way underdone so the waitstaff (fantastic) sent it back for more grilling. Then, it had a huge tendon running through it. Very tough. My ribeye also had huge tendons in it. I patiently cut out the roughage and had about half the steak left. At home, we get Kansasas City steaks, Ohio steaks, and our family raises beef in NJ. We know beef. Cuts this expensive should not have tendons, be well marbled, cooked to your liking, and not be tough. The meat manager perhaps needs to reasses their supplier, and the chef should address the incoming cuts with a critical eye. However, waitstaff was superb and the room and decor were first class. The beef greatly disappointed. Going elsewhere unfortunately for a good steak.
We were hesitant about dining here given its overall 3.9 rating on OpenTable.
We started with a bottle of Coppolla director’s cut Cabernet Sauvignon, which we enjoyed.
Our server, Kayon, was very pleasant and personable offering his guidance on the menu.
My peach bourbon glazed pork chop was spicy and slightly overcooked/tough. Sweet potato side dish was flavorful.
My wife’s chicken Oscar had nice crabmeat but chicken was tough.
Desserts were the highlight of the meal.
Ambiance is wretched.....you can hear the bar noise in the restaurant. Kids running around misbehaving. This place needs a real manager.
Great dining experience this was our first visit the customer service was excellent
Maybe we hit it on a bad night but this place was a real letdown.
We went here for our Christmas Eve dinner. The food was very Good. The Services was Great. the environment was very good for conversation and enjoyment.
Laura and Mike Jackson
The potatoes were a bit ordinary and the prime rib was a bit stringy but I guess quantity made up somewhat for quality. Dessert was excellent. Service was attentive.
My husband and I visited The Reserve for a date night dinner. Our last visit was similar as this dining experiences. We were so impressed with the beautiful decor so perfect for getting dressed up for our special evening out.
Our server was great and attentive.
What took away from our evening dining experiences was they prepare the tables for the next morning’s breakfast and they are very busy and distracting so the second half of the evening was not so wonderful with clearing the tables and setting up the new table displays. This was the same as our last visit too.
Diners come enjoy just make dinner early that’s what we plan on doing on our next visit. We thought dinner at 8 or 8:30 on a vacation get away would be ok?
Great food wonderful decor and our server he was phenomenal. Beautiful evening.
Had to send steak back 2x. Finally cooked to perfection. Service was good. This is a new steak restaurant, and I am being lenient with my review. Chef need to train the staff in what medium rare is and to determine if the grill is hot enough to cook a steak. Very disappointing for such high expectations. All issues can be fixed with the correct oversight.
In our view, this is the best steakhouse in the Golden Isles.
This restaurant was incredible! From the hostess, to the wait staff to the chef! We have already booked a Birthday Party because it was so wonderful.
They served us the Best steak in Glynn County. The filet was a perfect Pittsburgh Rare and the veal chop was spot on med-rare AND it was HUGE. Apps, salads, and sides were delicious but this steaks were amazing!
It was an hour before we got our food. The food was good but not great considering the price. Our waitress was nice but very slow. Got there at 7 and we’re immediately seated. We didn’t leave till 8:45, way too long for dinner when you have children with you.
We celebrated our 25th anniversary here. The setting was nice and we sat outside. Service was good And the manager comped is two desserts. Overall the food left a lot to be desired. My husband ordered the lobster Mac and cheese as a side and it was over salted to the point that he couldn’t eat it. The Ousters Tockefeller were bland and tasteless. If the food was better, this would be a great place as the setting is very nice and you can see the ocean just over the dunes.
The steaks are amazing. And the service was also extremely good.
I was disappointed in the preparation of my dinner. I had ordered a steak cooked medium. What I got was a steak that was cooked rare and cool inside. I had to bring it back to the counter myself and the manager said they would cook me another steak. What I got back was my original steak cooked to medium. Any cool would know this process toughens the meat. The person that brought our food to the table did not know which plate went with which guest. Also, because I ended up sending my food back to be re-cooked our family was unable to enjoy our meal together. When clearing the table we had to hand the person - not our waiter- our dishes. For the price of the meal the service was unacceptable. I was extremely disappointed with the whole experience. JD Our waiter was very nice. The wine list had items they were “unable to get from their vendor”. Little things one would expect to be right for the prices the restaurant management chooses to charge.
The service was horrible and took forever for anything to come out. We refrained from ordering the oysters because the table next to us had them and they were discolored and looked bad and they didn’t even eat them. French onion soup was just OK and my wife’s appetizer was good. She got beef Carpaccio as her meal with the other app and the meat that came out was COOKED... it looked like thick slices off a roast. The managers excuse was a new chef who didn’t realize he was not supposed to cut off the end piece.... that is when we explained carpaccio is not cooked but is raw meat. She looked confused but said they would take care of it. They removed off our bill but never actually even brought a replacement or offered something different. So my wife never got dinner. My Porterhouse was good but $30 good not $48 good which is about what we paid. Steak was over salted too. I had no side because I ordered lobster Mac and cheese which had 1 piece of lobster in it. They said they would replace it and remove off our bill. It never came until we were completely finished with our meal so they gave to us in a to go cup. So despite the fact that they comped the two items and gave me a free beer that beer ended up being the only thing free because we never got to eat the lobster Mac and never got any carpaccio. So for over $100 I got a steak, 2 drinks and some soup.... I will never go back unless kitchen and management is changed.
very pricey. i ordered scallops and got four scallops cooked to perfection with a few black beans. My spouse ordered filet again cooked to perfection with his choice of sauce - he chose Bernaise. Menu is ala carte so he ordered an extra vegetable. Food is excellent served outside on the porch with ocean in front of us. Seems very pricey but there is great ambiance and food we got was cooked perfectly. Service was impeccable.
I had the crabcakes. The best I have ever had! My friend had the ribeye and she said it was the best she ever had. The ambience was fantastic.
The food, service, and view were all incredible. Great spot to end our vacation at!
Food was great, though we were expecting the extended brunch hours to include the buffet. Table service was excellent. Reception/Host... not so much. 2nd time into the restaurant, same person at the front, same type of experience, unfortunately.
