Went to the winter garden for Sunday lunch our first visit I am a veggie and friend had the beef The staff were so welcoming and kind we were early trying to dodge the rain Food was just delicious music was a bit loud for me but you could still talk We were very comfortable in our armchairs and the loos very clean All in all we gladly take anyone here for Sunday lunch we were leaving about 1-45 and it was really filling up a good feeling

Fantastic evening, the food was beautiful. For the level of food the only odd thing was they allowed dogs in restraunt. I would understand in a country pub but not in the refuge. I have dog just thought it a little odd.

Wonderfully delicious proper Sunday roast!! Worth the round trip from Australia. The chicken roast was a very generous serving, super delicious, and staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend if in Manchester!

Whole experience was a little lack-lustre. No atmosphere and food was okay at best. Considering we’d read articles and reviews stating this was ‘one of the best roasts in Manchester’ the ‘platter’ (which was basically a big plate with some meat and a tiny amount of veg) for two was a disappointment. Not sure we’ll be back any time soon!

The sharing Sunday Roast is great value unfortunately on this occasion the beef was over cooked and impossible to chew, but I would go again. Suggest the dish is served without the gravy as it makes the potatoes go soggy and as it goes cold it chills everything

We’d never been in Refuge before and it’s a beautiful building for a bar/restaurant to be in. The guy who served us was great and the food was proper tasty. The sunday roast for two is loads of food so you’ll stuffed after it

Great space, superb service, plenty of different seating options. A focused but interesting menu, same for the wine list. Priced to keep the punters away which is a plus.
