We organised a visit for dinner to coincide with the 130th anniversary display. We had a Sunday roast menu which was fine but following making the order, the food arrived remarkably quickly!!! Part way through dinner, the candle was removed from the table - presumably with the intent of wrapping up dinner service which made us feel a little rushed. I asked the waitress where the anniversary display was. She didn’t know where it was nor if it had been started. We then had issues with the card machine paying the bill which took a long amount of time to resolve. Beautiful hotel in a great setting though. I think the service should just be a bit sharper to complement that experience.

Came on father's day and food was lovely. Service was a little slow, had to prompt a few times. Although the manager on shift at the time was amazing and so good with my children. I didn't catch her name but she was fab! Just a shame no gluten free Yorkshire pudding. I'd read in a previous review that one was provided and just assumed it was a standard on a gluten free Sunday roast. Maybe I should have checked with the venue. But feedback would be to look into providing as standard as this would really make the meal perfect. Otherwise food was top notch!

Afternoon tea yesterday was our reason to go to Kimpton. Gorgeous inside.. lots of wow moments. The afternoon tea did not disappoint. From top to bottom gorgeousness... selection of teas and beautiful crockery. Lana found out it was our joint birthday gift of time to each other .. she came out with a candle each for our brownie. Extra touches that make you smile. Thank you all it was a delight.... xxx

Great good, friendly service, lovely atmosphere. Only thing i can criticise is added a note to the booking for a candle with dessert for my friend’s birthday, to which they responded yes of course, but this wasn’t executed at the meal which was a little disappointing. Aside from this, lovely meal.

This restaurant was beautiful, clean and the service was so nice. For two Aussie girls the roast was life changing. We ate in 10 mins because we couldn’t do anything but keep eating it was amazing. We miss it already and don’t want to leave :(

Had the beef Sunday lunch and it is probably the best Sunday lunch ever. Callum our waiter was exceptional. Can’t beat The Refuge or The Kimpton

We had Sunday lunch at Refuge for my cousins birthday. The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The building is stunning but the unfriendly security is off putting, it is a hotel after all. We had reserved a table in the dining room at 4:00 pm, it wasn’t busy. Staff were unwelcoming. It would appear no one was working our section as we had to flag someone down who said it wasn’t his job but he would help. The drinks came quite quickly and the Manchester gin cocktail was delicious. Half of the food came fairly quickly afterwards but it would appear the other 3 dishes were forgotten as we had to ask twice. Again we weren’t asked if we wanted more drinks or dessert and we had to flag someone down to get the bill , we asked for the service charge to be removed which it was without complaint. A shame really because the food and drinks were good.

First visit. Welcomed by staff and shown to our lovely table in the winter garden. Fabulous atmosphere, swing music and dancers in the bar which enhanced our experience. Sunday dinner was delicious. I had the roast beef, beautifully cooked and amazing yorkshire pudding and gravy. I had the chocolate tart, which to be honest I didn't like the salt on the top, was overpowering and too salty. Overall a fabulous experience and will be back.

This was the best roast beef Sunday lunch I have ever had. The beef was really tender and cooked slightly pink. The gravy was silky smooth and accompanied the array of vegetables a treat. Service was fab
