The Refinery - Tampa Ratings and Reviews
As a vip opentable and a foodie of the world I would recommend not going to disestablishment unless they have been open for at least one hour because my experience last night to order a burger took them 55 minutes to produce with only two other tables in the entire restaurant
This story starts out having considered a different restaurant first. We first decided to go to Ella's for a bit of variety in our brunch habits. We arrived to a wait but also a half full outside dinning area. Ella's Folk Art Café told us there was a 45 minute wait for tables even though there were open tables outside (it was a bit cold) that no one on their waiting list wanted to sit at but were refused due to being a twosome and they were holding them in case a larger party came along. After a brief discussion we decided that Ella's was not worth the wait...especially when while discussing the situation we discovered through Open Table that we could get into one of our favorite's, The Refinery. We left Ella's and gladly went to The Refinery. The food was amazing as always and the service fantastic. I guess there is a reason we go there as often as we do, good service and really good food.
With the weekly changing menu, the Refinery used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Tampa. Unfortunately this last visit was nothing to write home about. Our waitress admitted from the moment she greeted us that she was afraid of opening wine bottles and then spilled some on the table and my boyfriend as she struggled to open our bottle. The charm that used to exist with each entree no longer seems to be there. Would recommend to those looking to eat local ingredients.
Traveling to Tampa on business I am on the lookout for new and interesting places to eat. Refinery was exactly as their website described, with a limited menu, but that's great for getting carefully selected and well-prepared food. The "bush" infusion was a nice alternative drink, wait staff was great. Ate on the outdoor patio, very comfortable.
Had the refined burger (peanut butter and marshmallow fluff). It sounds odd, but it surprisingly quite good. A very good balance of sweet, savery, and salt. The quality of the meat was excellent. The French fries in the other hand needed a major ovethall. The were limp and greesy. The homemade ketchup had slot of allspice on it, which I am not a fan. I asked for some mustard instead. That I would recommend, it was spicy and delicious. Besides the fries, I would totally recommend this meal.
Very unique menu. Loved the flavors and the melt in your mouth Country Style Rib with buttermilk sweet potato puree and the best green beans in the world, made with cumin. My husband had the shrimp over toast - charred spelt bread, accompanied by grilled Italian sausage and lovely flavors to enhance it all. My son had the largest, juiciest House Burger, made with grass fed beef and fries "the way they're supposed to be made". They had a wide choice of beers and wines. We had excellent service and loved the homey atmosphere. The entrees change weekly, and we will come again. The chef really succeeds in giving you an experience of food fresh from the farm cooked beautifully with a mixture of spices and herbs you probably would not have thought of. They even make their own ketsup with a secret ingredient. Find out for yourselves. You won't be disappointed.
This was a super cute old Tampa home that was turned into a quaint eatery. Prices were good and food was average. The chef took originate items and the idea was to make them fancy. Good concept but the good taste was not there. We went on Friday and that was what they call date night. They offered a bottle of wine for $15. I would go again. It was nice.
The Refinery offers some of the most creative dishes we've tried. Our server Lindsay, always provides great selection suggestions. This is not a quick meal but a dining experience. We started our meals with wine, beer, and cider options - yum! The charcuterie was interesting and tasty. The chef made mustard was inspiring. Additional bread was provided when our server noticed we were out. The meatloaf with chorizo was the table favorite but we also liked all the dishes ordered. We can't wait to go back.
Went for a date night and tried out The Refinery for the first time, we were not disappointed. The menu changes weekly and is small and inventive. The dining room is small but does not feel cramped. Waiter was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. We will be back!
Such a disappointment after reading fairly good reviews. Very few menu choices, only a couple of vegetarian dishes and the kitchen is unwilling to make any exchanges on a plate, I.e. Cauliflower in exchange for Lima beans. Told they can't do that because they only make enough to go with each plate and they can't do a different vegetable.
1 full hour before food arrived and at that point we had to ask if there was going to be a food delivery. Two 4 tops who arrived after us were served before us. WE DID make reservations.
Would not recommend.
