Come hungry and you will not be disappointed. We are set up for groups and are a perfect spot for parties and events. Come listen to music and dance the night away on Friday and Saturday nights.
We look forward to see you soon!
Doesn’t look like much when you pull up, but food is great
Great new owners. They show how much they care and love this gem thru hard work. not far from downtown area. Excellent food, had chowder and scampi. Delicious! Live bands rock the house
We were on our annual trip to the CA wine country, and happened to notice The Reel right by where we were staying in Sonoma. Everything we had was delicious and perfectly prepared, and the service was outstanding. We tried the tempura shrimp, wedge salad, clam chowder, salmon special and black cod. I'm not kidding when I say it was probably one of the most delicious meals we have ever had. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Way to go!!!
Food was really good, and they were so accommodating with our kiddos. Love this place!
Portions were perfect. Good, taste...just great! Loved it. We will be coming back to try different things on the menu
I was pleasantly surprised with the Reel Fish Shop. We had the 2019 fixe prix Restaurant week special. There was an abundance of food at good quality. We were there on a Sunday with no band which was perfect. I can imagine the restaurant can be quite loud if there are live performers.
Valentines special dinner was great with a guitarist. We also come for everyday lunch and dinner. With kids. Without kids. Both ! Love this place.
Good experience overall. Hamburgers were very good. Should have more non- fried items on lunch menu for healthier eaters. $ was reasonable. Service was very good. Music a little loud.
But overall a good experience.
We have eaten here several times and the service has declined each time. Extremely long wait time at the table for drinks and food order. Seems like the staff gets smaller each time. Food overpriced for the taste and quantity. Drinks seem to change in size (glasses are getting smaller) but the prices stay the same. Lobster Mac & Cheese still the go to meal. We will be taking a break from here and maybe try again when the service improves.
A reminder why I never need to go here again. Service is awful. Food is fair at best. Don’t bother. Ok to go for a drink or a band but stay far away from anything requiring a service provider.
I find The Reel a fun place to go, not only for delicious seafood, but, also for the music. There are few places in Sonoma, where you can dance, and the dance floor there is great. I think there should be more danceable type music, rather than just listening to acoustic....like it used to be as “Little Switzerland”. Although, I did enjoy Nick Machado and his Daughter, Emma, who were very good and entertaining. How’s about bringing some Zydeco music to The Reel? There is a community of Zydeco dancers that follow Zydeco bands everywhere, but nothing much local near here. The dance floor would be perfect for it.
Food here is crazy good. Great fish choices, burger, and curry! Great bar, casual and fun. Need more staff, as they are running to keep up.
Our first visit to Reel Fish Shop and Grill was New Year's Eve. We got an early reservation so we got in and out before the festivities started. They had live music being set up. The place is like a dive bar with great food. I use dive bar only in the most kindest meaning as my wife and I love these type of places. Our big surprise was that the food was worthy of any high end restaurant. I had steak and it was cooked to perfection and my wife had Macadamian nut crusted Halibut. Both meals were cooked to perfection.
We will definitely be back and recommend this restaurant/bar very highly unless you are one that has to have white linen table cloths and mood music in the background.
This is a restaurant that we have frequented numerous times due to the quality of food, service and proximity to home. After this occasion we will definitely have to reconsider.
Service (Sydney) was pathetic.
Couldn’t really be bothered fully explaining what dishes were made of.
Tapped the menu with her finger to make some exasperated point.
Rarely visited the table.
Didn’t tell us that they had run out of French fries for the fish n chips. Only told us they had substituted (cold) potatoes chips after we inquired about the fries.
The soup appetizer was delivered with the main course by another waitress and one of the chefs. I guess Sydney was just to overloaded.
A hot drink from the bar was delivered (by Sydney, bless her heart) cold. Really? Really?
Food- two stars
Service - a black hole, no stars.
Great Experience! Fantastic Seafood Stew, Lobster Roll and the Lemon Pepper Large Fried Shrimp!!!
good food, bad service. went to eat and see a show. the staff were slow, stressed and kind of rude. like they did not want to deal with anyone
Food was decent. However going to see an artist this place is EXTREMELY UNORGANIZED. It was complete CHAOS. I also think that if you’re getting VIP tickets you should not have to eat here, that’s wrong to try to make another dollar on someone else.
I was so impressed with this neighborhood gem. Amazing fish at great prices. We had the ahi poke & the tempered shrimp to start and my husband and I shared the macadamian crusted halibut. All amazing! Large portions
Delicious and lunch combination is perfect for light meal.
Six of us dined here tonight and had terrible service and food. The fish and chips were all breading and no fish, the mussels were over cooked and were inedible. The waiter tried to add two items to our bill and added 20% gratuity to our bill. Then when asked to split the bill on three cards, he put half of the bill on one card, and two random amounts on the other. We would have asked him to fix the charges but left as is out of fear of him just charging additional amounts and not removing the first charge. An awful experience all around.
We visited The Reel Fish Shop & Grill for lunch and were thrilled with our experience. The menu was unusual and appealing. We all had trouble deciding what to order because so many items looked so good. We were all pleased with our selections. I had the Macadamia Crusted Ahi Roll and a bowl of clam chowder. Both were superb! I also enjoyed my Sonoma cider. My 1 year old grandson loved playing around outside since it was not too busy. Thanks for the great meal Reel Fish Shop! We'll be back!
Have been several times. The service this time was poor; we finally went to the bar to get our drinks that had been on the counter for quite a while and watered down. Food took a long time, the guy that was singing before the band started kept coming over serenading us when we really just wanted to talk and visit.
We had also made the reservation saying we wanted to stay for the music and have done that before and paid at the table to stay seated yet this time was told we would lose our chairs and table so not sure what the VIP status was we didn't know about so we left.
I live two blocks from the restaurant so very convenient. In a local neighborhood with history and beyond the tourism of the Sonoma Plaza. The chef, Ikie, and the restaurant specialize in fresh seafood but other options on the menu. Lots of locals eat here. I think it is one of the better restaurants in the Sonoma Valley.
Wonderful patio and really good food! Good service, too.
Not only is this a neighborhood gem, it's awesome to have such great music here locally! And the food was awesome. We ordered the steamed clams and they were so good, we ordered another one! Victoria was our server and she could have been more professional. If you're reading this and you live in the area, support this venue so we can continue to have such a great spot so close by but NOT on the square!
Wonderful local no frills place with great food. Perfect for casual dining.
Poor service. Server wasn't aware of certain menu items. Food so-so. Will not be back.
First time. Interested in Two Lions Band headlining. Good stage, seating & sound. Surprised at how good the food was. Had excellent fish & chips. Others had big burgers off a good menu. Will definitely return.
The food was good but the service was horrible. Very disappointing.
I bring friends from out-of-town here to show them the "local" side of Sonoma. They ALWAYS deliver. Awesome place with fantastic, original dishes.
Great food and service
Would be five stars if they get rid of the yellowjackets on the patio
First time at this place. Ok ambiance. Tasty food. Wife had ono fish plate. She enjoyed the fish but not the sides. I had a shrimp po’boy. Very good. Wife enjoyed my sando more than her dinner. This is an ok place. Service was good and it is dog friendly.
You think you’re driving forever and then you dead end at this place. The service is always excellent and the lobster rolls are worth the drive!
Came here to see a brunch show. Ordered fish and chips and they were delicious. Service was quick and kind. Music was fab. Place is super cute and tucked away. Highly recommend when tooling around Sonoma.
Doris the server was fabulous & friendly. Food was excellent. Meeting the chef/owner Aiki was a treat!
It’s alway nice when the food isn’t over cooked.
Delicious fish tacos, great flavors, good price. Nice patio with shade trees. Relaxing environment. Small fenced play area for small children attached to patio, so the kids can play while waiting.
Their Fish and Chips was the best.
Grilled fish tacos were not that great.
Food was good but pricey for the size of the portions. Service was very slow and we had to find the server to get things we ordered. When we got the bill there were items we had not ordered included and the bill had to be corrected. We went indoors to listen to music and were charged an unexpected $5 each. We will not be returning to this restaurant
Excellent scallop tacos
