The Reef Ratings and Reviews
The Reef is excellent for brunch. But, I put in a request for a booth in a particular server's area and, when we arrived, the booths were all gone. The hostess said that they were all reserved, but I got a quick look at the reservation book and we were among the first reservations of the day. It is obvious that the hostesses did not look at the reservation list when they started seating people in the booths. This is a situation that should be addressed.
Other than the seating problem, the food was excellent and the view is very enjoyable.
Had the Thanksgiving buffet on Thanksgiving Day. Everyone, and I mean every employee was at their best, from the valet service, hostess, waiter/waitress, servers and behind the scene workers who made it an enjoyable day. Plenty of food and an overflow of all the champagne you could drink. We were allowed to enjoy our meal without being rushed. Between our group of 4 adults we were able to sample just about every type of food offered. Noise level was a little high but considering most people were there for family gathering it was acceptable. Water was not offered but available. We were extremely impressed with the table service. We would recommend "The Reef " restaurant for any type of family gathering.
Went for the first time to the buffet for Thanksgiving. A little annoyed that I asked to sit outside with a view and they said there weren't any tables, but there were plenty of empty ones. All the meats were excellent. The carvery station had turkey, prime rib, turducken and lamb, all succulent. Fresh simple sushi and seafood. Where they fell down, badly, was the holiday fixins. My daughter is a pumpkin pie junkie. The pies were barely edible. She only ate one bite. Typical bad banquet desserts. And the yams were canned. Seriously? Yams are cheap and easy to cook. And they taste so much better fresh. When you pay $52 for a buffet, you would at least expect fresh food. And for a holiday that's all about the pies, tasty pies. The bright spot was our server was great. And the champagne was off label but actually drinkable.
Went for thanksgiving brunch. We were there at opening and were seated promptly. Even though we were there at opening the majority of the food on the buffet stations was cold. Our waiter was completely cringe worthy making inappropriate and un-funny jokes for example, about my 12 year old daughter drinking champagne.
Definitely will not be coming back
The food was decent but the lines for some stations was way too long. Our server did not clear the plates from our table so we had to move them ourselves to the empty table next to us. She was talking to a group of people sitting nearby and took a long time bringing us the water we requested.
I was very disappointed with the food and the service. Although the restaurant offered a great variety of food, the quality of the food was not very good. The desserts were obviously store bought. And the lines were horrendous. I stood in line 45 minutes for an omelet that was swimming in butter.
A few weeks ago we went to brunch at Luminarias and it was 100% better and less expensive.
Our server was an elderly lady who seemed to be overwhelmed. She hardly came by the table and when she did the coffee was lukewarm, ugh.
Thank goodness for the view and the waffles. Otherwise, it would have been worse.
Love the location how ever the man assisting us took a long time to help us and bring is bread we did see another waiter taking bread and butter to another couple before us so it did kind of offend me. Another thing when ge to to the restaurant the lady taking me and my husband yo out table noticed some kind of bug on the plates placed on the table she just removed the plates but did not offer another sitting. I did have high expectations from this restaurant therefore it was my 1st option when I heard about it and decided to celebrate my situation.
This was a first-time experience for me - which I did not find enjoyable. It felt like feeding at a trough - with some foods looking as if it had been sitting for some time. Did not like the masses of people - and the wait time associated with it for individualized service. Just was not a good dining experience for me overall. I can now place this on the "been there, done that" list - yet never to return.
It’s been more than a decade since we last went to a Sunday brunch at the Reef, and it absolutely didn’t disappoint. The food selection was a home run, and the service was great. The only real problem was the facility really needs a refresh. Carpet needs to be replaced and the oak wood is pretty dated. Such a beautiful view, but the building itself looks a little grubby. That won’t prevent me from back.
For 50 dollars itvwas not worth it there was not a big food selection i came for my birthday and walk away unhappy the waiter was rude and when i asked to speak to a manager no one came maybe it was a bad day but i didnt like it i was outside the view was nice but there were thousands of flies everywhere i really want my money back
Best view ever! Sat outdoors as always. Our waiter, Francisco was great-- He kept our champagne glasses full. Hostess was very nice this time. I love outdoor dining when the weather is great and this has all the ingredients of best weather, good food, great service , great view! I have brought all out of town guests here as long as the service stays great. :)
Over all this place was okay I honestly thought the food could have been better and our waitress was fairly old and a bit senile which made the service lack a bit. She kept making cute little jokes that were sweet, (her: can I get you something to drink? Me: yes, hi, we'll take a few waters for the table. Her: It's a drought Ya know!) Lol I would have loved her wisecracks, however, she never brought the waters...or anything else! We asked her runner for everything and that made up for the service, but not entirely.
We arrived early and went to the bar for a cocktail. Sat on the sofa. The table had a empty glass & beer bottle. We were never asked if we would like a drink. The table was never cleared. We sat.there for 20 minutes. When we sat down for dinner we had to ask for water twice. We had to ask for bread. My husband ordered the Hawaiian rib eye. It was a thin piece of flavorless meat.
We have come to the Reef several times in the past to celebrate special occasions
This celebration was very disappointing.
