Overall, My wife And I enjoy the food. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
The seafood collage and pasture chicken had a lot of flavor! We brought her own bottle so we simply paid the corkage fee. Their wines run a little expensive so we brought her own to bring down the cost of the bill. We were sat right away and had wonderful views of the water. Our server Miriam was very nice and attentive.
Valentine special night was average. We got put an a room where the walls were all white, the lighting was bright and there was alot of empty tables. All the guest we're being sat on one side of the room which made the room look empty. We saw some available seats in the main dining area, we asked if we can move they told us it was reserved but we had reserved seating as well so we didn't understand. Our server was good, nice man. The food was not that great, my wife had the seafood trio which she got sick from the next day. And I had the aged prime rib which the over cooked when asked for medium rare and over seared the outside. I tasted burnt crust outside. The only good item was the appetizer which was a clam chowder. In conclusion, I was kind of disappointed with the restaurant experience because of the hype that people would give me when asking about the restaurant.
I made reservations on valentine's day for my wife, my brother and sister in law, we were expecting a nice romantic ambience, we were not even seated inside restaurant, they in a bright small banquet room with with picnic tables and uncomfortable chairs, there was no privacy we were seated so close to all other couples and we can hear everyone's conversation, to the point where we had to be quite, frankly I was embarrassed,
Nicely treated by all staff members. Great seating. The rose for my wife was a nice touch.
Excellent atmosphere and service, exceptional and friendly server and maitre d' , very helpful, we really enjoyed our lunch. Will go again.
Pretty relaxed place to have dinner with a view. Took a date there. She was impressed! Would take another date again
Was seated 20 mins after our reservation wth no apologies. Insanely limited about of healthy options. Salad bar almost non existent and appears to be an after thought. The best thing was the view and the constant refill of champs
Our waiter was very nice and the food was delicious!
Augie daniel was an amazing server kept our drinks filled and checked up on is often to make sure we were enjoying ourselves!!!
Food was very good. They may have been understaffed because our order was quite simple but took quite awhile to come out. There were 4 events going on at the restaurant at the same time so maybe that was it. Great LB city/water views. Our table however, was right by a door that opened to one of the special events. Unfortunately, those people had to use this door to come and go if they needed to use the restroom or get a drink at the bar so therefore the higher mark on the noise level.
The food was delicious, everything went smoothly.
The view was amazing but I don't think the menu changes much. Was going to go to parkers lighthouse but the cost was more reasonable here. The waiter was great. The calamari was not very well fried and could have used a few more minutes. Everything else was very good. However the food is not that interesting. They should go over to James republic and taste what's farm-to-table and different flavors can offer. Maybe check out other gastronomy places are doing. Lola's, socialist, restoration, the attic and so many other restaurants and doing it better.
Food and ambiance was GREAT!
Waitress was not so great. We were never offered refills. I mentioned it was my husband's birthday and she didn't even acknowledge it. It seemed like she was upset. Didn't seem happy at all, all her questions were very monotone. She brought us the bill and asked if we wanted dessert when our meal included dessert. I asked her if the restaurant did anything for birthdays - her answer "just cheesecake" which she didn't even offer to bring. I also noticed she was extra helpful to other guests (american and Afro american) she just left us in the dark. Even the bussers and the hostesswere way friendlier and polite than her.At the end when she brought us a bag for our leftovers, she just said, again, very monotone "here is the cheesecake, i boxed it" she probably noticed that I was upset and brought it afterall.
I really wanted this my first experience there to be special due to that it was my husband's birthday but the waitress just ruined the occasion. :(
Other than that, everything was enjoyable and nice. The reservation was perfect and we got seated right away! Thanks OpenTable!
Even though I had a RSVP it was still slow seating. I wanted to watch the sunset and take photos but missed it.
Very bad experience overall. The team can use some training to be more hospitable, courteous, and professional. We had to wait for 35 min although we made a reservation. The service and food were very disappointing too, the value should be around $25 for such a low quality buffet instead of their $55/person charge. The glasses still had lipsticks on them, and we were seated in a lower level area that did not smell pleasant. I can go on and on about this place, but I am just trying to help others in avoiding this tourist trap. To be fair, the only thing going on for this place is their location.
We attended the Champagne Sunday brunch this week for the umpteenth time in Augie's section by request. I have loved coming here for years so I'm well aware that for the most part, this brunch buffet has not changed - only the price has... The price of this brunch has gone up very high and I've been ok with that in knowing that it was an all you can eat buffet w/champage. However, the new rule of a 2 Hour time limit on seating is ridiculous; there is NO way that I can get $45 worth of food + tax and tip in the short 2 hours because the funnest part of brunch is the social aspect. Sitting around talking w/friends and enjoying the champagne cannot be done in this time frame. I understand the need to EITHER charge More$ OR limit the time; but doing both is really unfair and quite frankly a huge turn off... I think that if we're expected to pay nearly twice the price it was 10 years ago, there should not be a limit of 2 hrs, perhaps 3 hours would suffice, OR drop the price back down at least $10 each.... honestly, this new rule will discourage me from returning here for a long time.
Perfect place to eat for a romantic date. Has a great view of the ocean, and the food is great! Would love to come back sometime.
The Reef was outstanding in every way! Delicious food, good choices on the menu and a beautiful view. Also, an excellent value for the pricing. Also, the lobby had a beautiful fire going and fresh flowers to greet us and keep us comfortable while we waited for our table.
This place was all I ever imagined for my special Day. We were a party of 15. The service was outstanding the food is delicious and the atmosphere was perfect!
I had to go down a steep of steps with 4 inch heels! They only gave my veteran husband $5 off of $132.13 WOW!
The restaurant is nice to look at, great views. The server did not know the menu, and instead of coming back to ask us, she randomly choose items for us. Not cool. The steaks were not cooked to the requested temperature, and they ‘grilled ‘ my prime rib, in order to make it medium. Slow service, and It took an hour to get our food.
The wine list was lousy, not what I expected from a steak and seafood restaurant.
Nice place to eat food was good, but over rated and to expensive
Fantastic service, the management team was great.... greeting us at the door and coming to table as well.
I lover the Reef. however the food use to be so great. however we recently went to brunch, and I was so surprise that they took out the pasta bar and the soap bar. I love there Chile Verde and that's no longer available on brunch. Very disappointing . But our server and cocktails was great . it is not worth 50.00 . some good food.
We met friends who live out of town for brunch at the Reef and had great food and service until the end of our meal. We have been going to the Reef since it was Polynesian themed and have always had a good time. But this time as we were winding up our meal, the manager came over and told us our 2 hours were up and that we had to leave. We stated that we would like to finish our conversation with friends we hadn't seen in a long time and she said, "You have 10 minutes." My husband told her about coming here as a teenager with his parents and that we have been using the Reef's brunch to meet these friends 2 or 3 times a year for several years. He questioned why we had to leave and she said, "It's our policy." This policy was not in effect any of the previous times we came here and she should not have been so pushy about it. If the restaurant was REALLY busy, that would have been one thing. But, in our section of 12 tables, there were 2 tables that were empty the entire time we were there and, when we walked out, there was nobody in the lobby waiting to be seated. This put a damper on what had been a great brunch and I think that the founder of the Reef, Dave Tallichet, is probably turning over in his grave with the way his restaurant is being run now.
Enjoyed our experience - nice atmosphere, great service, great drinks and food
Valet parking was expensive. Only saw our waiter twice, one to place order and to bring check. We were seated at a table in the bar area. Not very romantic for our 55th wedding anniversary. Very noisy, bar drinkers coming and going, TV's blaring with sports. Waited 15 minutes from finishing meal to receiving dessert.
I enjoyed the food very much. The view was gorgeous very calming. The only complaint was being a little rushed by our server but over all a good restaurant.
New Year’s Eve
We went for NYE to celebrate. Did not realize the menu was limited, very limited. I like steak and seafood but my husband does not. There was NOTHING on the menu for him. I asked the manager if they could possibly make him a hamburger and she said absolutely not, all of the food was cleared out of the kitchen except for the NYE menu. Pretty disappointing. Also, the hostess was a bit preoccupied with other restaurant workers and did not acknowledge me at all for quite awhile. I at least expected a "I'll be right with you" but not even a glance while I was standing right in front of her. And the restaurant was not very crowded at all.
We went New Years eve so that might not be the best sample. We enjoyed our meal and the food service was very good. The bar on the other hand was pretty unorganized. We ordered 2 Old Fashioned cocktails which were terrible and my sister ordered a Compari and Soda. I guess we should have specified club soda because the bartender put coke in it.
Service was not good. And the waitress was training someone, which means the new waitress got bad training
Sub par service. Took over an hour to get our food. Waiter acted annoyed. Food was ok for the price
I went here for sunday brunch. The table service was excellent and our group did not want for lack of champagne. The food quality left a bit to be desired given the price, especially the ordering station with sliders and seafood steaming which got simple orders wrong multiple times. Overall it was a nice view but not a great value or noteworthy.
Loved the ambiance but brunch was a bit cold. Wonderful service.
Finally had a waiter that was respectful & on point. In the past always had this older surly woman. Sorry I didn't appreciate her rude ways. Had a wide variety but was sad the pasta station was no longer there. Tip: Take crab legs to eggs Benedict station. They will steam & season with cajon & butter
The last reservation at 4pm... Had to ask for everything as the trays were empty
I enjoyed myself but there was not enough vegetables, the meat waswonderful
