Sat at a table by the window. Nice view, but the table was wobbly so I had to fix it myself. Service was slow. The table next to us had families seated there twice and both times they got up and left because no one would wait on them. I think that they were understaffed for a Friday night.
I did appreciate the waitress not recommending the daily fish special. Food was good. Cooked my own steak. Crab leg portions were huge.
I would recommend this restaurant as long as you’re not in a hurry
For those of you familiar with the old Shorebird, this is a more expensive version of it with much less of the charm of grilling your own food. They’ve taken away all of the different spices you used to be able to mix on your own and left you with four very unflavorful spice rubs. The salad bar was reduced dramatically to encourage you to order more of their sides which are now $8 each (a baked potato side at Shorebird used to be $3-4, not its $8 as well). They also took away the steak and lobster combo leaving very minimal seafood selection that you can cook on the grill. They had more overall food on the menu, but it was poor quality. $28 for 5 very tiny St Louis ribs that had zero flavor. Would not recommend and would not go back.
Went for what we thought was going to be a nice dinner. Restaurant was untidy and server was not very engaging. Ordered a bottle of champagne he walked away and brought us the cheapest bottle on the list. He never asked us what we wanted. We also didn’t realize you have to cook your own food. $200 bill, somebody should be cooking it for us.
Service was excellent
The steak was tender, but the vegetables were dried out, and some of the dishes had no flavor. It is not as advertised. No one taught us how to cook the meat so we guessed.
We sat at a great place where we watched the sunset from our table and it was spectacular.
Over priced for that experience. Will not do it again nor recommend to a friend.
Amazing service! Asked for a table for sunset dining and had a great view. Drinks were on point as well. We will be back!
The whole presentation of this restaurant leaves a lot to be desired.
First you are given the menu (appropriate)…then you read the whole “our chefs will educate you in the art of grilling , after you choose your meats or whatever you want to grill “ - ( phenomenal idea)… however, by the time you go the the actual grill to be “educated”, you need the fire department/ EMTs to come on site and make sure you don’t die from smoke inhalation while you are there to “learn” how to cook a piece of meat, or/and if you decide to pick something from the salad bar (where, again, you might need divine intervention to release any salad components from the most stickiest and dirtiest thongs I’ve ever seen in my life ).
Then, if only by the grace of God and the first responders you make it to your table, you need to use the flashlight from your personal phones in order to see what you’d like to eat - the whole restaurant is dark and dingy - probably why there are no adequate lights in the restaurant...
Then, if you succeed and pass over all this hurdles, you will not be able to enjoy a conversation due to the obnoxiously loud music - you might as well stay home and eat in front of the TV (don’t do that if you think you might talk to the TV and expect an answer back !!!)
The food was fine : had worse, but also a lot better!!
Our waiter was overwhelmed with the whole running around to make the patrons happy…drinks were brought to the table without a coaster or at least a paper napkin, the glasses started to sweat on the table, in big pools of water and one of us had to stand up and go to the bar area and ask for a few napkins (we were granted that request)…
At this point in our journey to this restaurant we had no silverware (again, one of us had to go to the set up station next to the bar and ask for silverware and napkins (again, we were granted this request)…
You might deduce that we were granted 2 requests and that can or should be enough … not even close…

Have come to this restaurant several times before it changed over in 2017 on our trips to Oahu. Was very disappointed in what was previously a very nice experience. The salad bar had very limited items compared to previous. There was a bad smell at the end of the salad bar toward the kitchen, like mildew. Several of the red meat selections were discolored. Service was poor despite very few patrons. Asked for meat to be cooked medium and it was very medium rare. All this at a very high price point over $40 before drinks, sides or an appetizer. Unfortunately will not return.
Great food, excellent service, and a great atmosphere to enjoy a romantic dinner
Came here for a family reunion. Although I enjoyed the food ambiance. I feel the price point for a filet mignon of $42, is a bit high especially with the customers having to grill their own protein.
Incredible staff: upbeat, helpful, attentive and thorough. Terrific food, delicious drinks, great ambience.
In the past, birthday guests would get a treat with a lit candle. Not this visit. The host mentioned it as we entered as well as when we were leaving. The waiter had no clue, so we left it alone. After all my wife is in her 7th decade of personal birthdays and really doesn't need a happy staff surrounding your table.
Regrettably our dining experience wasn’t good. The view of the beach was amazing, such a shame the service took away from what could have been a great evening.
If you get a seat at the window then it’s worth eating here at least once. The food portions and quality though were just okay but don’t match the price tag. We had the market fish which was $50. I was starving afterwards because the fish was so small and I tried to fill up from the salad bar, but options there just were not very appealing (although I did eat from the salad bar).
Don’t like the changes to the salad bar and the prices increased. Won’t go back even though I’ve prob been there over 20 times
Wonderful! Requested a table near a window and hostess seated us at a great table. Our steaks were cooked perfect! Bartender was great!
Kids Mac and cheese was a bit too fancy for my daughter’s liking. The grilling experience was awesome.
The grill guy was the best! Kept all the grilling going and all our items came out perfectly. Excellent staff. The kids’s new favorite spot.

We had dinner here and received what we thought was a great table. The grills fired up and the heat made us want to move. The grill master was zero help and the butcher was not any better. Cool concept but missed the mark. The salad bar was average at best.
You have to cook your own food, meat was not tender. Sides were not good at all. Unusually I. D.o.n.t review restaurants but this one I would not recommend
Really enjoyed the view and experience of this restaurant. I had the Strip steak and my daughter shrimp kabobs which we picked the seasoning and assisted in grilling and both were great. My wife ordered the mojo chicken from the kitchen which was excellent too. Our waiter was the best we had in Waikiki and the oceanfront table has the perfect beach view.
