   The food & service were excellent. The restaurant was popular with buzz about it. The decor is looking a bit tired though and the toilets were a mess which affected the overall score. A bit of a decor update is the answer.

   Fabulous venue and lovely staff. We were a little disappointed that when we asked to order dessert we were told the kitchen was closed. This was around 10pm when we were told the kitchen had closed at 9pm. Given our booking was at 8pm, this was surprising not to have been told this when we sat down. That said, I would still recommend the venue with the caviat of 'be aware of kitchen times'.

   Menu choices were limited as the kitchen had run out of food, only told of the limited menu options after we had made our decisions so had to go for a more expensive option. Waitress was very apologetic but seemed run off her feet.

   Busy. Need to book. Lots of noise due to number of people at bar. Ordered aperitif at same time as we ordered food and the food came first! Food good as was the aperitif.

   I wasn't too happy with my food but maybe I should have gone for the Sunday roast as my two friends seemed to enjoy their meals. However, one of the meals was initially served cold but this was soon remedied. In fact, rather than warming it up, as requested, they actually provided a fresh meal. Food was a tad expensive but this is a gastro pub in the middle of Oxford!

   We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Red Lion. Classic pub feel with a professional touch. Great portions and good value... Nothing complex and done very well!
