Those traditions are continued today by Executive Chef Max Kiperman, whose kitchen features contemporary cuisine that is rooted in the region's history and harvests. Emphasizing the use of fresh, local ingredients and a huge proponent of buying locally and sustaining the region, Chef Kiperman regularly updates the Inn's menus to reflect the bounty of each season. Guests choose from the elegant Main Dining Room, the cozy Widow Bingham's Tavern, the casual Lion's Den pub, or, in warmer months, the flower-filled Courtyard. The wine list offers 500 plus selections, and has received the Wine Spectator best of Award of Excellence for ten consecutive years; Sommelier Dan Thomas helps pair wines with meals. Food at the Red Lion is not the draw. The whole ambience is. Ate outside in great weather. Not to be missed, despite the only ok cooking. Traditional Turkey plate was not anything the pilgrims would be excited about. I'd pass on this and go for the prime rib.

First time I’ve been for dinner instead of lunch. Way pricier than lunch! Service was very good, but food was rather bland. I ordered a drink to start and my soup came out before the drink. I had the pork schnitzel which was tender but not very flavorful. And it should have been served with noodles, I think. Lunch menu is far superior, in my opinion. Lovely ambiance, though.

We sat outside in the courtyard for dinner before going to a concert at Tanglewood. I had the pea and asparagus soup plus the quinoa burger. Both were excellent! Our waiter remembered us and was engaging as always. I don’t remember his name but he is originally from Turkey. The Red Lion Inn is one of my favorite places to dine.

We went to the Red Lion for lunch on July 4, as part of a holiday getaway to the Berkshires. The service was excellent as was the food even though they were very busy.

We enjoyed it so much we returned the next day for lunch again! A new fave for sure when we visit the Berkshires area again! We highly recommend!

We had a party of ten before a show. Our server was excellent! He was aware we had to be out by a certain time and made sure we were served promptly. He was attentive and available and did a great job! The room was pretty on a summer afternoon. Our food ranged from really good to absolutely delicious! Overall, a great experience!

We went for dinner before heading to see JT and Tanglewood. Our waitress asked if we had a time issue and when we told her the plans, she was awesome. Drinks, appetizers and main course came quickly but not rushed. The menu isn't huge, but what they do, they do it very well. We both had the filet which was excellent. It started a wonderful night off right. A great meal with excellent service in a historic spot.

Loved it. Not my first time there. Enjoyed a drink on the front porch, however warped side tables made it hard to put our drinks down. We were told by a waiter that all the tables are like that? Paying attention to small details really helps

The Red Lion Inn should have a dress code for the dining room. It's a shame that people feel it is acceptable to wear shorts and tee shirts in such a setting. A proper dress code (does not have to be terribly formal) would make the dining experience more enjoyable for the majority of customers who make it a point to enjoy a nice meal in a setting that calls for appropriate attire.

Wonderful visit to this old historic inn. The service was attentive and we were seated right on time. I was a little concerned that the menu and the food might be a bit old fashioned and staid, but we were pleased with the presentation and the favors in the chicken and swordfish entrees. A modern and fresh approach. If you're in the area make a reservation and get there...well worth it.

Restaurant has a great history behind
It but was dirty and shabby. our waiter was totally out of his element did not understand what the specials were I ordered what he called the pan sear trout he told me it was stuffed with wild rice. Instead i was presented with two fillets of trout with wild rice on the side tossed with chorizo it was tasty enough but at 30 bucks I expected something a bit better. My husband's prime rib was Bland and was supposed to come with a popover which did not arrive to the table. Overall for $135 it was a subpar meal.

Always a great dinner! We love coming to Red Lion Inn and eating in the dining room--great food, both traditional favorities (love the turkey--- it's the best!) as well as some new items. Gracious service, beautifully authentic inn. And having a drink on the porch is just wonderful!

Two chefs looking for a special dining experience while overnight in Lee. We picked the right place! Food was excellent. Service from our waiter Ronny was great - exactly what formal service should be! Menu was a bit overpriced for some items but was expected for this very high-end restaurant. Decor was old & historic but could use some updating of things like worn carpets.

We eat here when we are going to a concert at Tanglewood. Love the food and our waiter was very nice. Only complaint is that they charged us for splitting salad - that is a cheap shot. Nevertheless, we will eat here again. Everything else was great. They do a generous pour of a glass of wine (one of our pet peeves).

Had lunch with a friend prior to attending a matinee at Tanglewood. My wife and I had spent a weekend here a few years ago. I have good memories and my friend's delight at our meal means we can both add to those good memories. The room was very crowded - though not too noisy - nice! I was very happy to have made the OpenTable Reservation - quick and easy. Selected some of the less pricey options and was very satisfied with both flavor and presentation. I really like the "cellar room", but thought for my friend's first exposure to dining at the Inn not the right pick- so I'm really looking forward to coming back soon to listen to music and eat and drink down there.

I haven't been there for over 50 years and it was just as good. Pianist was wonderful and we really enjoyed the music all evening. Food was very delicious. Server was fairly bored with his job. Very skilled at what he was doing, but missing the personality to make it a really special evening for us. He did spill meat juice on my wife and promptly brought a towel with soda water and later a free dessert...........but again.........no real interest in us. Found that odd in a place like The Red Lion Inn.
Overall it was a very good evening and I hope to return before another 50 years pass.

My husband and I decided to go to lunch at The Red Lion Inn before attending a play. The main dining room is elegant, however when we arrived a large bus group was seated there. Although we asked if we could sit in the front area of the dining room, the maitre d' stated that is was "closed". She offered to seat us in the tavern which we accepted.

The tavern was quiet which we had requested in our original open table reservation. The menu was somewhat limited yet we both found some interesting lunch entrees. I had a garbonzo bean and quinoa patty served with some fresh greens, naan and tzadiki. My husband had the pasta special. Both were very good and the service was also good.

The Red Lion is a reliable place to visit. Wish the large bus groups could have a separate area however, so that other diners could enjoy the more formal dining area in peace.

Our waiter seemed to be inexperienced and overwhelmed. Forgot our chowder orders, and because he brought them to the table late, we hadn’t finished them when our main course was brought to the table cold. He also forgot coffee, when he brought dessert. Seems that if the Red Lion Inn wants to charge high-end prices, they should have first-rate staff.

I have long wanted to have dinner here. I was not disappointed. The ambiance was wonderful. Our server was wonderful, she was attentive without being bothersome and helped with food recommendations. We were not rushed through our dinner or coffee. The food was cooked perfectly, served hot and the portions were great (couldn't finish mine, took a doggy-bag). We will definitely return when in the area!

THE DINING ROOM IS VERY LOVELY AND AUTHENTIC LOOKING. THE TABLES FOR 2 ALONG THE EDGES MAKE THE DECOR AND EXPERIENCE EXTRA CHARMING. THE FOOD IS GOOD, SOME DISHES PROBABLY VERY GOOD, THOUGH A LITTLE HIGH I THINK FOR THE QUALITY. HOWEVER, PAYING A LITTLE EXTRA WAS WORTH IT FOR THE EXPERIENCE OF DINING IN SUCH A CHARMING OLD HISTORICAL BUILDING. (THE BUILDING MUST BE VERY EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN.)
VERY NICE FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS.

I booked a lunch to celebrate my husband’s graduation. The service was extremely slow. After we were given our menus...we sat for 20 mins before anyone else acknowledged us. The food was lukewarm. My in-laws were with us and I was embarrassed that the service was so poor. Overall - not worth the money!
