It's still the Red Lion Inn. Menu for lunch was smaller but dishes we ordered were superb. The teapots are all there and on a winter day during COVID, it was lovely to actually sit inside a restaurant and be served. Our table was completely separated from the other diners present. We savored every moment and look forward to returning Post-Covid to enjoy the Tavern.
Reserved table a month ago for 7pm. Arrived a few minutes early, and were told they were getting table in the farthest dining room ready. great. We then saw two elder couples go up and talk to the host, seemingly in a demanding way, sounded like they didn't have a reservation, but may have been regulars. Watched them get seated in the far dining room. We are then called to be seated. Began to walk toward the furthest dining room as that is where they said we were going to be seated. We were re-routed and given the two person table at the very edge of the dining room, on the lobby. It was loud in the lobby, leaving our seating with no ambience. There were adults with 4 small girls in the lobby waiting to be seated, (maybe about age 7?), and the girls just ran and yelled upstairs, downstairs, through the restaurant. Waitress was good. Muscles and chopped salad very good. My husband said his salmon itself was good, however the spices overpowered the fish. I had the steak which was very tough. I only ate a third of it. The fingerling potatoes were dry as a bone, with no spice or flavor. Didn't eat more than one. Disappointing, won't eat here again.
We were staying at the Inn and made reservations for our first night. The service wasn’t bad, but the food was lacking for the price. We found the entrees very expensive for few mediocre options, none of which turned out to be executed that well. There were a number of tables in the main dining room with younger children that weren’t being guided well by the associated adults; kids running through the dining room and generally being disruptive added to the unpleasantness. We were disappointed in the main courses and desserts, and they were very pricey.
My husband and I went for romantic weekend. Reserved red lion for dinner.
We sat in the tavern which was a little more casual and secluded. Our preference! The only drawback was that the menu was limited but all else was great, especially considering the Covid restrictions. Kudos to them! We will be back.
I booked months ago and even called twice to ask where our table was. I was told the main did I g room. When we arrived many tables were open a d spread out nicely. I gave my name and being in the event restaurant businessmyswlf I knew immediate that maybe you overbooked for when I enquirer about the table being made up last minute in the parlor the hostess just said that’s all we Dan do.
I would have understood better if she was just honest about the situation. The manager was kind and bought us a drink and the service was excellent. If I had not called 2 times to confirm I would have understood but also understand it’s a pandemic.
Thank you
I was disappointed we were not seated in the Main Dining Room as requested. Instead, we were seated in a open room with 3 other tables. The side was open on two sides, so there was continuous distraction from people walking in the side door and then forming the line to be seated right behind me. Or just being completing ignorant individuals. amd standing in the opening to watch\see what people were eating. It Was NOT an ideal setup or enjoyable.
One of my favorite places, can’t wait to return
Wonderful place and dining experience. Food was great and they have a great kid's menu! We enjoyed our family dinner there and would love to come back and stay at the Inn one day!
Great to get out fir a nice meal and a change in scenery
Great ambiance and good service. Food choices could be more ample. Beef selections are very pricey. Food was quite good
Had a wonderful dinner here. No prime rib left, but we ordered the pork and NY strip. I would definitely recommend. Thanks again!
Our dinner at Red Lion Inn was comfortable, leisurely, beautiful and magical. A great environment for a celebration, holiday, special family moments. The food was delicious and our service was great - Kathy was our server.
Always good. Always consistent .
Food was delicious and staff was very friendly
Great place to have a good, cozy, and romantic dinner.
Wonderful dinner. Like a visit back in time. Great wine list!
Delicious dinner, attentive staff, and a wonderful, warm holiday ambience. We had a great time and can’t wait to dine at the Red Lion again soon.
Our meals were perfectly good. My daughter had the Beyond. Burger, and I had their signature Chicken Pot Pie. Our server was very nice, and our meals came out quickly. The best part about eating here is the ambiance — charming, a little worn, but also so authentic that you don’t mind the fact that it’s not perfect. I’m glad we ate there.
Main dining room is choice. Quality of food, drink and service is excellent as usual. 'Specials' are always worth trying.
Two very different areas to eat. The bar is quite casual and the dining room very formal. Menu is limited and the prices are quite high for the serving size. Ordered a drink from the" specials menu" but was told an ingredient was out of stock.
Depressing
Hello Alze, I am sorry to hear that your experience was not a good one. Would love to connect & find out how we went wrong. Please feel free to contact me at (413) 298 1607 so we can make it right.
I've eaten here many times. As a solo dinner, I am used to being ignored. It took a while to get noticed. The food was just ok. I may not return.
It's always so nice to eat at the red lion. You just feel the history around you. The food is great, the atmosphere is great, everything is great. It just feels great to stay here and eat here.
Food was fabulous, service was excellent. Great way to celebrate an 85th birthday!
Excellent meal and service.
Definitely worth visiting even if you don't eat there! It's inn is absolutely beautiful with such history! I had the clam chowder and salmon dinner. The food was great!
Met our expectations for a wonderful evening, Covid style
This historic inn located in Stockbridge is quintessential picture of charm and grace. While its decor and ambiance are likely unchanged for 50+ years, it is both warm and welcoming at every turn. The dining room is gracious and the food outstanding -- the steak was one of the best we have had in a long time, and the fall-themed buratta was terrific. Cocktails are also superbly crafted. Always a great place for a fall get-away in the Berkshires!
Prices are high, service was good, atmosphere was very nice. Portions were small
I had the turkey dinner at $32 seemed very high. My wife had the pork roast. The pork was over cooked and tough at $27. I won't be back. The best was the fresh oysters from Dennis Ma. On the front porch.
The bar ambiance is quite rustic and warm; the food is typical bar food: not great but adequate. A bit overpriced for what it is I thought.
The food was great and the view from the front porch was awesome. Adam, our server was really good too
Some George Washington’s and Thomas Jefferson’s not being very respectful to the service workers
We had a lovely bottle of rose that was recommended when we couldn't get the sancerre rose that we requested. Our server, Gina, was very good as well. However, the meal itself was lukewarm to cool and neither my husband nor I really enjoyed our meals as a result. The desserts were good.
miss the dining room; tavern seating or outside only available in these times. Limited menu for same reason.
Very well spaced tables with lots of social distance. lobby area and around the hostess desk and to get to the restrooms was crowded and people in close proximity. Food and value for money were good. Our waitress was delightful. Old fashioned decor is charming. Our experience was marred by the cold blowing through as the door kept being left open for the outside diners. Take a blanket for your knees!
Great place!
I had eggplant with roasted red peppers and olive tapenade. Eggplant was not cooked and waitress said she could microwave it. I would expect the Red Lion to offer another alternative. Also waitress was not that helpful and when asked to bring more creamers
she delayed and coffee got cold.
We had a nice evening at the Red Lion yesterday on their outdoor veranda in the back. The ambiance is wonderful, with little lights, and seasonal decor like mums and pumpkins outside, and the table elegantly set with white linens. Our server Dorothy was wonderful and attentive. She suggested the warm cider with rum as it was a chilly night, and that was perfect and delicious! My son and I had the clam chowder, which was as good as any on the Cape, and for dinner I had the seafood gratin, which was also delicious. My picky teens enjoyed the charcuterie board, chicken sliders, and pasta alla vodka sauce. My only complaint would be that it was a bit cold and I wish that they had outdoor heating lamps. But overall, we had a wonderful night and felt safe in their outdoor dining area. Thank you Red Lion!
We had a server that never came back once after the meal was there to ask if anything was OK and left us sitting there with no check we had to go to the bar to get the check And then he proceeded to tell us that we have to get it from our server And he was very rude. We come quite a few Times per year and also stay there I never had service like that
