Made reservation for 2 (anniversary) quite awhile ago! After receiving confirmation immediately called restaurant because of rooms & seating! Exact words from whomever I spoke to…”no worries about dining room. Open Table a little confusing”
Live locally and only made reservation because read about new chef and planned menu upgrade. Arrived at 6:20. FOH walked us into Tavern. I said…we are in dining room! Exact words “that’s impossible the dining room has been booked since March for a private affair” My husband said “I am not happy” I then repeated my convo right after I made reservation. Answer…”whoever told you that shouldn’t have” My husband said it’s our anniversary! Answer with a bit of tone “you can leave if you want” We sat down in Tavern along wall! FOH must have thought better of his handling because offered us drinks. “Poor” rating on ambience because we were in main traffic lane. Steady stream of guests with luggage and others going back and forth to carry out drinks! Inches from us! So close I expected someone to take a roll!
Fully understand increased menu pricing but we had in front of us a menu with high priced offerings! Tavern not exactly a venue for fine dining in our opinion. Must also add while the meal was tasty it was not up to area competition. There are many excellent choices in both Berkshire and Columbia County, NY. Fully realize that the Inn is a popular tourist destination and as a brand enjoys a special place in the Berkshires! Please know our server in the Tavern was pleasant and efficient! We so wanted to make the Red Lion a future dining destination on a snowy night. Last evening was a big disappointment!

Varied menu, excellent service, great food, nice fall day to sit on the front porch before and after lunch. We go every October for the food and the ambience.

Our server was awful. He forgot my drink, never apologized. He never checked in to see how our lunch was. He probably said 5 words to us. The food was ok, I hate the pot pie and it was not what I expected. It reminded me of something I would get at a diner. The menu is lacking. Need more variety and maybe some specials. First thing the server said was, No specials today. That’s how he greeted us. Needless to say, I don’t plan to come back. Definitely disappointed.

Husband couldn't stop commenting how good his turkey dinner was. I had the prime rib which was perfectly cooked and the rosemary popover was scrumptious! Service was excellent and our booth was charming. Loved our visit!

We ate in the Tavern on a very busy night. The menu included the main dinning room favorites. Our server was excellent.

Last minute decision couldn't have been better. Traditional ambiance wonderful menu and delicious food. Service was warm and inviting.

Together with Red Lion enthusiast friends for a midweek get together as we vacation in the area. The Inn achieved the whole dining experience for our small group. Thanks for the great job !!!

We enjoyed a nice, quiet lunch in the main dining room. Food was delicious and service was prompt and friendly.

Not going to lie, our expectations were not high. It looked a little run down, and we expected bland food.

To our surprise, the food was excellent! Healthy portions, quality ingredients.

Service was great, good drinks from the bar too. We would go back.

The food was excellent and our food server was really pleasant. Always have a smile behind those masks. We always stop by in our yearly trip to the Berkshires every year but this is our first time dining in the main area. Love the historical architecture of the place. Highly recommended.

Friends visit for weekend

Staff was helpful but definitely overworked. Nice setting reliable food. The menu is pretty limited but you know that when you go here. Nice setting and area. No outdoor seating when we were there due to staff. Would highly recommend a reservation.

Waited 30 years to eat here, was disappointed.

Service was OK.
Chairs were old and not very comfortable. Really they should be refurbished.
Food was unimaginative.
Started with the Corn and Fennel soup. Bland and watery it had no body.
Had the special “Salmon Cakes “. They were dry and not very good. The “dipping sauce “ that they came with was basically a soy sauce. Not good for salmon cakes.
Wife had French Dip. Roll was falling apart soggy. Was not very warm. Fries were cold.

Hopefully we just got unlucky but there is no excuse for what we were given.
It was one of the busiest Sundays in the Berkshires on almost peak foliage day. I don’t see how you can attract new businesses and guests if this is the best you can do.

Food was fine, but uninventive. Service was prompt, but server did bring wrong appetizer at first and then forgot to have that appetiser taken off of the bill.

We had lunch on 10/9 and the menu is exactly the same for lunch as it was in August.

Bar was not fully stocked. Bartender was newbie. Menu limited. Over rated , slightly over priced. However not a lot of restaurants in the area.

Waitress was working many positions with her track shoes on and a positive attitude!

This lunch was not my first and will certainly not be my last at the RLI. We are long time visitors to and guests of the Inn and have never been disappointed. We like eating in the tavern where the authenticity of yrs long ago is in every nook and cranny. The food is delicious - simple and comforting.

We had excellent halibut and a great cocktail. Some tables too large for two people, but we asked for smaller table and it was perfect. Dessert menu is a bit weird.

Outstanding in every way. We had the Halibut, and the Prime Rib.

This was our first visit. Our server Carlos was outstanding in service. He was ready and willing to accommodate any request we had. The watermelon and heirloom tomato salad was delicious as was our salmon entrée. We will definitely come back.

Always reliable and getting better. The menu is somewhat limited but enough to choose from. The vegetarian enjoyed a shrimp and pasta dish, her husband ordered a double serving of mussels for his main course and I had the Caesar salad (excellent) and prime rib. All was delicious. We had a terrific personable and professional server. The lighting is a little too dim for my taste, but phones have flashlights for menu reading.
I certainly will be back.

Food was delicious and service was good. This is an old inn (longest continually operating in NewEngland I believe). We were there for lunch and portions were very large. Nice patio/porch seating options also.

The Red Lion Inn is a pre-Revolutionary War venue that offers a well-considered and curated menu. I thoroughly enjoyed my choice of grilled salmon over a flavorful and colorful salad, an unsweetened iced tea with lemon, followed by delectable individual slices of a lemon buttercream cake with raspberry preserve filling. It was a memorable meal!

Dinner was delicious. Service was excellent. The live music was an added delight

This is a wonderful, historic place. It’s also a very family-friendly place, which in the modern era means that some parents will let their kids watch videos during dinner, which can be a little distracting if you’re hoping for a romantic night out. But if you’re cool with that, definitely dine here, it’s beautiful and has great food.

We arrived about 40 minutes early for our reservation and the hostess graciously was able to see us early. They had my favorite menu item available on their lunch menu, the French dip which is probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. The waitress was prompt, courteous and followed up with us after we got our food to make sure everything was good. We could not ask for anything more. It was an excellent experience to end a lovely day in the Berkshires

Had a delightful meal here to celebrate our 8th anniversary last night. We were pleasantly surprised to find a jazz trio playing during our meal. Sadly, they finished their last set only half way through our 8pm ressie. Everything we at was delicious. Sadly, they were out of the prime rib which was first choice but loved the shrimp bucatini dish I had instead. Also, loved the butter/sugar cake (can’t remember what they called it). The place has so much character. It had lots of old word charm from yesteryear. This place had been on my bucket list for many years and it didn’t disappoint! The best part of dining experience was when we learned that the hostess/manager of the restaurant picked up the tab for our 2 cocktails as an anniversary gift to us! What a nice gesture.

The Red Lion Inn is a landmark restaurant in Stockbridge , Massachusetts. It dates back to George Washington time . Loved the ambiance . Very expensive . Food delicious

We were seated in the courtyard and the restaurant had fans blowing because it was extremely hot that day. The employees were so attentive and I really need to emphasize that! I ordered a turkey sandwich that had cranberry mayo spread. Very dry and needed more of a creamy balancer. I asked for additional cranberry spread but still quite dry.

Noisy. But great food and great service. There were several very loud patrons and some screaming babies at 7pm. Perhaps some more sound absorbing surfaces would help.

Old fashioned Colonial American restaurant with very good set ice snd tasty food but limited menu.

Lovely in every way. Setting, service and food. We had had a late lunch, so split entrees for dinner. The restaurant was super accommodating- plating was gorgeous. All dishes were delicious. Waitress was very sweet, personal bit not intrusive.

Had heard about this place for years, and was prepared for a wonderful luncheon experience. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. Especially the food. My wife had the turkey-and-dressing sandwich. The bread wasn't fresh, the cranberry relish was almost unseen, and the dressing was a cold slab. At least the turkey seemed fine. I had the chicken pot-pie which was just okay; filled with many hard peas, one piece of carrot and one piece of parsnip; there was a fair amount of chicken, though.

No one on the staff was wearing a mask, but we were seated (unasked) with "social distancing." Discovered later that there was a patio that would afford outside seating.
