Limited food options. Not recommended during holiday season due to large parties and noise level of families. As a couple, we typically like having dinner here but not during the Christmas Holiday Season.

A friend and I are making lunch at the Red Liion a tradition and meet there every few months from over an hour away each. Everything about the experience is simply lovely. We always ask for our favorite waitress, Darlene because we so appreciate how beautifully she does everything about her job.

The service, as we have always found it to be, was well above par. The staff is the star of the show. That having been said, the show needs a major rewrite. Best way to explain it; you need to take a trip down to the Jersey shore. More specifically, to Congress Hall in Cape May, New Jersey. When we first started coming to the RLI, we found it to be on par with the exceptional experience that we still enjoy, when staying at Congress Hall. The two historically significant facilities are in the exact same category. However, over the years, CH has maintained the highest standard possible for the condition of its buildings and grounds. Clearly, RLI has not. It saddens me to say it, but I don't believe we will be returning to the RLI.

The food was good - but felt like eating in a museum rather dark - too dated - my concern is how is that interior cleaned.

We went to Stockbridge for the annual Norman Rockwell Car exhibit. We had 2:30 reservations, but the shuttle getting us back to our car stopped at 2:30. We asked the restaurant if we could come earlier and they fit us in at 1pm. They were extremely gracious and kind. The food was great! I had a smash burger that was amazing; my husband had the chicken bbq sandwich which was great and we shared a black lentil and saugage soup. Everything was perfect and Christmas could be felt in the air!!

We enjoyed our lunch at The Red Lion Inn. The New England Clam Chowder was authentic and tasty and the Lobster Roll was divine. My husband enjoyed every bit of his chicken sandwich too. Our waiter Godfrey was friendly, courteous and efficient. All in all, we highly recommend lunch at The Red Lion Inn.

We opted to sit in Tavern area however ordered from the main dining menu . Beautiful ambience but food was awful, tiny portions. I was actually sick afterward. Overrated, tourist trap. Way overpriced for portions. Will not go back.

The ambiance of the Hotel and dining room from a luxurious past well maintained. And the service and food were outstanding. Accompany that with a festive and cozy lobby were you can sit by a fireplace and hear the piano play, just adds to the overall experience. Then the Best is the recreation of Norman Rockwell Christmas on Main Street. And Santa Claus coming and Carolers singing Christmas songs that set the mood for Christmas. And I must Mention the shops in the hotel and on Main Street have many beautiful selections.

We had a perfect Afternoon Tea experience. We had a small and gorgeous dining room to ourselves, with a fantastic waiter, Noah, to help us. It was warm and cozy, completely quiet and altogether perfect. The tea sandwiches were fabulous, and all the baked treats were delicious. It was an elegant and perfect way to celebrate our occasion. I could not be more enthusiastic about the entire experience.

We had a lovely dinner in the tavern w friends where you can choose from the tavern or main dining room menu. The service at dinner and in the tavern bar was great. We enjoyed the pot pie, the pear and goat cheese salad (even though we saw no goat cheese) and the soup of the day. After dinner we took our drink to the front porch that is enclosed for the winter.

We have made dinner at the Red Lion a simple tradition before attending the light show. This year, there was a noticeable change. I think there should be a dinner dress code. We were actually sitting in the front 1/2 of the dining room, now converted to an extended lobby area, and a person picked-up a very heavy chair in front of us and carried it to the already crowded area by the fireplace. I liked it more when people were having dinner and not snacks and drinks in what was the full dining room. We do express our thanks to the gentleman who went to offer service to our family, while they played chess in another area of the inn. We will be back next year, but may have dinner downstairs because the "historic ambiance" has been drastically lost upstairs. We still enjoy the Red Lion Inn, we just have to adjust to management's decision-making to make significant changes for quick profits from snacks and drinks in an over crowded lobby encouraged by eliminating 1/2 of the dining room.

We love RLI! Have been going for over 20 years. It never disappoints. We ate in the Widow Bingham Tavern for lunch. Some of the food choices were a wedge salad - it was cold and crisp. The bleu cheese was tasty! We also had the chicken pot pie and the short rib Mac and cheese. Not a bad thing to say. Both dishes were tasty and comforting. Oh, try the warm apple cider- don’t forget to spike it with either whiskey or rum!

Long time Stockbridge weekend residents. Decided to try RLI. Menu too limited. Menu does not mention bread available for purchase. When we got no bread we asked waiter. He said we have bread but you have to pay. Info must be on menu. Fish stew has meager piece of fish. The duck was ok and risotto ok. Crispy slice of ham way overcooked.

My girlfriend and I have eaten at the Red Lion Inn many times over the years and never tire of its colonial New England charm. We enjoy having a drink in the cozy lobby area around the fireplace before dinner, visiting with the other guests while listening to the resident piano player. On our latest trip, we ate in the tavern off the main dining room and both ordered the smash burger, which we agreed was one of the best burgers we’d had in recent memory. The wait staff is always warm and friendly, and quick with the service. We look forward to our next trip.

Five of us went there for a cousins reunion. Very pleasant atmosphere, although a little noisy because most tables were filled. Our server was quite patient while we talked and weren’t ready to order for some time. We each enjoyed our entrees. But, there was an exception. I can’t find words to describe what was wrong with the French fries. They were horrible. When my brother had left them on his plate, as did my cousin, I asked to have a few. I then realized why they weren’t eaten! My other brother did the same and discovered why they were left on the plate. My brother said they tasted like bagged shoestring fries that were cooked early in the day and then reheated.

2 different experiences. They featured a new menu since we were there recently. My wife had the tea egg, prime rib and flourless chocolate cake. She loved each one, cleaned each plate, and was well satisfied when we finished. I had the braised salsify, the egg yolk tagliolini and the warm brie. I thought each of them was under-seasoned, bland, and the portions were far too small. Frankly not even close. I left dinner literally still hungry. My wife's dinner experience was a 5 out of 5. Mine was definitely a 1. From a style perspective I thought the new menu was too limited, and the entrees was a long way from what I had experienced there in the past. The entrees seemed to be overly complicated and not very cohesive....no real style apparent, just a bunch of ingredients tossed together. No sense of the traditional New England Inn at all. Not to mention the small portions and the lack of seasoning. So, to me, it failed in both design and execution. As mentioned, though, my wife was very happy with all three of her choices, so go figure. One of us could be wrong! Service was excellent and attentive. Atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxing. We'll go back, probably again and again. But I think they could do better.

Our waitress ours have used some personality. We wanted to sit in the tavern, however, it was full so they offered us a table in the dining room. Our waitress seemed offended we ordered a lighter meal; chowder and rolls for one of us & the turkey for the other. No smile, seemed irked that’s all we were ordering. No follow up until the bill came.
