Welcome to The Red Lion Bishopgate!

On the banks of the River Wensum and a stone's throw from Norwich Cathedral. We serve fresh, locally sourced food all day, everyday. Our head chef Tom has created a menu suitable for everyone, including gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. We serve a delicious Sunday roast every weekend.

Brunch is also available every weekend 10:00am-12 noon. Please see below our food serving times:

Monday - Thursday: 12:00-20:00
Friday & Saturday: 12:00-21:00
Sunday: 12:30-19:00 with a choice of roasts and bar classics.

We always leave some tables free, so if you can't make a booking just pop in to see if you can grab a table! Large car park for customers.

Please note, your booking is allocated for 2 hours.

Tables in the garden are rain proof and we do have heating, but may not be suitable in heavy rain.

Our first visit, but it won't be our last. What a wonderful pub and restaurant. Situated beside the river on part of the lovely riverside walk past the Cathederal and Cow Tower. A lovely summer evening. Great atmosphere, great food and great service. Dog friendly too! See you again Thank you

Food at the red lion is very very good. Fish and chips is excellent. We have had a sharing board with cheese and hams. Again excellent. Good beer selection. Sunday roast is fantastic and an excellent bottle of Sauvinon blanc. The service is great, a big thank you to Rose today and lachlan. I highly recommend this pub. It's not expensive and it is fresh and tasty. Do try the Eton mess . I would like to say Thank you for the attention today from Rose and Lachlan .

Visited The Red Lion at BishopsGate, Norwich with my sister’s and their partners. Have eaten there before for a Sunday roast which was excellent. We were well looked after by the staff and the food we had was of high quality and flavoursome. A great place to be with family or friends. Lovely atmosphere, quite loud at times but we liked that as we were a bit noisy too! Would definitely go back there for another occasion and thoroughly recommend it.

Food quality was good, but could have been hotter. Service was good but could have been more prompt taking our order. After being at the table for 25 minutes we had to ask for our order to be taken. It was a further 35 minutes before the food arrived. This was very disappointing considering we had pre-booked…an hour beyond our booked time before food is on the table is unacceptable, especially as the pub was not overly busy. All in all very disappointing considering you pay top dollar for a roast dinner in Norwich.

Couldn't find anyone free to discuss table location, just found with name on, so no welcome. Someone attended when we ordered drinks at bar. Food was good pub food but not as good as William and Florence.
