Beer warm...food mediocre and way over priced..
Server evidently new with little or no training...Have eaten there 4 or 5 times in the past....this isnt the same place.
Excellent dining experience. Great hidden spot.
The dining room was very nice with white table cloths. The service was excellent.
The $13 omelette was plain and would starve a cat. The $4 grits weren't hot and pasty.
At Brunch, they said they had no bread! The salt and pepper packets were cheaper than McDonalds!
2 small plates with 2 iced teas a grits cost $42.00
I would not recommend the Red Lion
The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the place itself is beautiful. Highly recommend the pork belly and Brussels sprouts! Will definitely be going back!
Food was delicious! Good service and the atmosphere was beautiful!
This was the perfect place for our girls’ trip dinner! The food, staff, and ambiance were incredible. The shrimp and grits as well as the risotto were cooked perfectly. The drinks were made by a talented mixologist. All of the staff made us feel like we were at home. This is a place we would go back to time and time again.
Absolutely WONDERFUL! Beautiful historic Science Hill dining room in charming Shelbyville Ky. is the perfect place to brunch any Saturday. Chef Jeff is brilliant. Everything he makes has an added touch to make your meal special and make you want to return!
Food is consistently great. We love It here!
It was perfect !!! Girls night !!
Amazing food and a beautiful place for a date!
Service is awesome and strongly recommend the old fashion drink!
Food was cold. Service was mediocre. Not handicapped accessible which is concerning.
Everything was, and always is, outstanding! It’s our favorite restaurant to eat at in Shelbyville. Always 5 stars- just excellent. Highly recommend!
As always, The Red Lion excels. I love going there.
Options available were very limited. What was listed as an option an item was not available for some reason.
Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service and friendly staff.
Great place and great food. Staff was polite and prompt. Definitely would go back and will.
Best brunch I’ve been to in a long time, service was great and food Amazing
The best place to eat in Shelbyville, by a wide margin.
Outstanding food and service, in a really cool historic building.
I would highly recommend this place. They were unusually busy, but service was outstanding.
My wife and I enjoyed a quiet date night here. Great food and great service.
Our favorite place to eat in Shelbyville ❤️
Visited for brunch with a party of four, for the first time under new management. The actual menu and hours do not match the online information so call ahead. Quality of food was good for most items. Shrimp and grits were delicious and the Salmon Croquettes Benedict was very nice, with the exception being the asparagus, which was too large and tough. The smoked sausage and gravy biscuits were bland--we can make much better at home. The $12 Blood Orange Old Fashioned lacked taste, but the Peach Bellini was good. Staff was friendly, but young and a bit tentative. They will benefit with more experience and training. Dining room interior was cool so most of us had to keep our jackets on during the meal.
Drinks were good, food was ok. Felt like the potato’s were instant and green beans were frozen. Brussels sprout and pork belly appetizer was awesome. Everything else seemed like there was little to no effort given. Everyone seemed to be eating burgers and fries. Maybe that is what people go there for.
A most delicious meal! Our server was attentive and very pleasant, as were the bartenders and hostess. A very enjoyable evening!
Amazing all around! The owners are warm, welcoming and make a memorable night!
Had the special it was amazing. I heard there was a bourbon club meeting in the back sure wish I could have joined. I love the bourbon list they have but wish they had some Rip to choose from the list. We will be returning for sure.
Quiet and cute little stop for a date. I will admit I had a hard time finding the place and got a bit of a chuckle when I called to ask where exactly they were located. Food was excellent, staff was friendly and overall I would highly recommend.
Enjoyed being outside. Weather was perfect. Service and food were great also. Menu selection could add a few more items
Ate here for Easter dinner and really enjoyed it, the food and service were great.
We have greatly enjoyed both Easter and Thanksgiving buffets at Science Hill in the past (before COVID). This time we really missed a small thing, the southern style fried biscuits and corn fritters that used to be the bread offering. Generic dinner rolls were disappointing. We also missed seeing two very familiar faces from past years, they were the two elderly but elegant wait staff who added true southern charm to our previous dining experiences. The food was delicious but not extravagant. The service was good but not extraordinary. The wait to be seated was 20+ minutes even with a reservation. We were a party of six and each of us had one plate of food and a dessert, but when a mandatory 25% tip was added to the bill the total was around $300! We were taken by surprise and I am wondering if the restaurant has changed ownership. Science Hill is a beautiful and historic landmark and the drive to Shelbyville is always lovely, so we will give it another chance but just two for lunch next time.
My husband, daughter and I went there for Easter, looking forward to a traditional Science Hill meal, with all the things they are (were) famous for, like country ham, corn pudding, fried cornbread, roast beef, their excellent blue cheese dressing, aspic, honey glazed carrots, and peppermint ice cream. None of these were present! Instead, we were served low grade cafeteria food. The fried chicken was so salty, it was inedible. The green beans tasted like they were just dumped out of the GNC can and warmed; the carrots were cooked to pieces and had no flavor; the lamb was over cooked and tough. And,they served mashed potatoes without any gravy. They offered derby pie and bread pudding for dessert. We opted for the pie, thinking we would at least have something good. I took one bite and spit it out. It was awful! I’ve never seen a pie with a square corner, so I’m not sure what we were actually served. We saw the bread pudding served in a clear solo cup. This would be fine for a picnic, but not for a $35 a plate meal. To add insult to injury, they tacked on 25% gratuity, bringing it to $43.75/meal! When my husband mentioned that this was not the meal we were expecting from Science Hill, the “waitress” rudely laughed. I know we were not alone in our disappointment, as I heard three other tables around us making similar comments. It is a shame that a place so iconic to Shelbyville doesn’t even come close to resembling its former self. We will definitely not be going back, nor will we patronize The Red Lion, as it is run by the same people.
Excellent service and superb food in a wonderful environment - Bravo to the team for a truly wonderful dining experience.
The food was amazing. blood orange old Fashion I asked for the recipe. Wow!! Will be back next week with friends.
We had a great time! Food was really well done. Service nice. Will definitely be back.
This is my new favorite local spot! I will be a regular. The owners are amazing people with warm, fun & welcoming personalities. The food was perfect and the service was excellent. I can’t wait to eat on the patio when it’s warmer!!
We loved the food options and had a wonderful time speaking wit Brian. Loved the blood orange old fashions. Will return soon with friends.
Food is awesome here and the new owners are very involved and doing some really cool things both with the menu and the space. We will be dining here a lot in the coming months! The outdoor space is really cool too! This place is a gem in Shelbyville!
Price seems a little expensive at a glance. But for the quality and quantity, I would pay more. Very impressed for first time visit.
