Ordered a pitcher of sangria ….. tasted like cinnamon water… sent it back. Ordered octopus and it was undercooked. Ordered ravioli and it was inedible. Disappointing
Thanksgiving, prix-fixe. Turkey probably the worst ever served--dry, shredded, looked like and tasted like leftovers from last week. Ham inedible. Minuscule portions of potatoes and stuffing. A shameful ripoff.

We were a little disappointed after hearing positive reviews. We loved that they had an outdoor heated patio (a huge reason why we went). While my food (fish and chips) was good, my two companions thought the food was nothing special for the price (dishes either lacked flavor or were way too salty and, based on appearance, had canned ingredients). Too expensive for those kinds of concessions. They have some weird policies like no milk for the coffee, only cream, and no butter for anything. The server was nice and attentive but didn't understand the differences between the types of beer offered on the menu. Probably won't go back.
I want to believe that our experience was isolated, that staffing levels, etc. will create issues. Our reservation was at 4:00p, so it was not prime time. Everything sounded wonderful. When the swordfish arrived, everything on the plate was cold. the salmon linguine temperature was perfect. The swordfish was returned, and arrived back 10-12 minutes later, an awkward amount of time. New scoop of potato, but the fish and brocollini were nuked, so drier. What do you think? How should a $27 entree be treated in this situation? The salmon linguine was drowning in sauce, and try as I might, the salmon was totally inedible because it was way too salty. Was it the fish or the preparation? Don't know, but I left 80% on the plate. Great ambience, and the server was sincere, but was really disappointed.
In some ways, this place feels like they don’t get that they’re a restaurant. No decaf, no milk, no high chair/booster seat. The food is okay. The porch is a nice outdoor dining option.
Large parties of 6 or more people should be placed with other large parties. They are too loud and make it unpleasant for other patrons. Your questionnaire allowed me to rate the noise level from quiet to energetic. Our experience was way beyond energetic, making our dining experience not enjoyable.
Love finding cozy neighborhood restaurants off the beaten track. My daughter stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around Cambridge one day. So glad she did. We will definitely make the trip in from the suburbs again to dine here!

Red House has been a favorite of mine for years. We often would make it our go-to restaurant prior to or after an A.R.T. performance. We loved the early bird price for their shrimp and oysters and their seafood linguine was terrific. This is the second time I visited since the onset of the pandemic. I cut Red House some slack the first time. It was noisy and our meals were mediocre. The waiter seemed to know little about the food and less about being a waiter. He was sweet and we figured this was a function of getting up to speed with the gradual opening up 15 months into the pandemic. My most recent visit was even more disappointing. The new menu, which is all seafood, no longer has the good early bird prices for shrimp and oysters, though we came at 5:30. We had their artichoke linguini with scallops added in for me and shrimp for my friend. We both said it might have tasted better if it had come hot. At first we thought we’d ask the waitress to have it warmed up, but she was no where to be seen and we didn’t have a long time to wait as we had A.R.T. tickets. Worst of all was how cold the space was. We asked to be seated indoors. It was 38 degrees outside. After shivering through our Caesar salad and wine, we asked if the temperature could be increased. The guy in charge eventually put on the gas fireplace where a feeble flame was ignited. It did little to warm the space. All and all the visit was very disappointing and I’m pretty sure after 2 less than pleasant visits and a bill that was $121 including tip with nothing more than a shared salad, a plate of spaghetti and a glass of wine each, we will be sadly crossing Red House off our list of go-to restaurants when next in Harvard Square.
We arrived on time and were seated inside. There was a very noisy party in the next room who were loud enough to sometimes make conversation difficult. We ordered the ravioli and the fish and chips. The fish and chips was a large portion but overcooked and a little dry. My date had the ravioli which he though were just okay.
Nice outdoor space. Food and cocktails were meh. Wouldn’t go again. But on a nice day, nice place to sit outside.

We saw that the Red House was a highly rated restaurant in Cambridge near Harvard Square. It's in a restored colonial era house. We ate on the porch which had plastic to block the wind and infrared heaters, but my wife was uncomfortable. The service was excellent. The menu and wine list were small and printed on paper likely due to pandemic precautions. I ordered the seafood medley over squid ink pasta, a rarity on menus. The Shellfish were outstanding, but I would have preferred a higher temperature. My wife had the fish and chips which was superb but an enormous portion, easily shared by two people. Also, for a restaurant at this price point, they should have provided cloth rather than paper napkins.
Management and service was kind and considerate. Scallops and chowder was absolutely fantastic.

Super cute restaurant with great service! I had the butternut squash ravioli, it was delicious and was a generous portion. There were outdoor heaters for most of the outdoor eating areas that made it comfortable to be on the patio. Highly recommend this place!
Excellent food and service as always !! The noise level from Charlie’s kitchen next door was high but we had a wonderful evening in spite of it!
The restaurant was fairly busy but the service was still great. My scallop dish came out completely ice cold and my husband's fish and chips looked and tasted like it had been fried twice. The drinks were good.........
Delicious seafood. I had artichoke pasta and my husband had black ink pasta with mussels and scallops and shrimp. Plenty of outside seating.
We had high hopes but the food was pretty lackluster, especially for the price. The only vegan option was zucchini noodles with red sauce for $22. Two people in my group got the squid ink pasta which was okay. Served us crostini that was cold and hard as a rock. Another person got scallops, which came with a cold and bland side of puréed squash.
Great atmosphere and waitress was fabulous.
This is a beautiful restaurant in Harvard square with lots of outdoor seating. The service is superb and the food is wonderful, very New England. I entertained some out of town guests here and it was perfect.
Our luncheon was delicious and we felt comfortable with distance from other diners. We will return soon.

Indoor space is small and a little noisy . The food was okay not great. With the exception of the loaded fries . If you go and it’s nice out definitely sit outside .
We had grilled octopus to start (wanted to try it, wasn’t a fan but that could be because we both just aren’t going to be fans of grilled octopus no matter how it’s served), fish and chips, and the scallops. The fish and chips were GREAT. The scallops were sandy and nothing special.
The food was delicious. Cal Imari is made to perfection. The lobster roll is to die for. Highly recommend this place for a unique experience!

We ended up being quite early for our reservation, but they were not too busy and worked us in early! My husband and I had the pork tacos and the swordfish and both meals were delicious!
Service was exceptional, food and drinks outstanding! Atmosphere was cozy and relaxing on the patio. Definitely will recommend this to fire and hope to be back!

We were served room temperature water tasted like tap water. Oysters seem spoiled or so. Didn’t look appetizing, everything was so overpriced and didn’t seem worth the bill. My seafood pasta did not include the whole lobster like the picture and it seemed to have a soupy liquid at the bottom of it but the pasta itself was not cooked well, curly like ramen and dry. the experience really changed our expectations for the rest of the night :(
