Whole Steamed Lobster
New England style steamed lobster served with drawn butter, coleslaw and golden fries
The Red House is an old standard and we always enjoy our visits. We don't expect gourmet food, but the porch is a great spot to share with friends. Summer is so short in New England, and The Red House allows us to enjoy it. Like many restaurants, service can be slow due to the difficulties finding staff, but the staff is friendly, knows the menu items and works to deliver food in a timely way. Have patience, and you'll enjoy the experience. We'll return.
I was surprised that it was no longer a very good Italian restaurant, but a so-so fish place. We ate outside, but the inside lacked the charm of previous incarnation
What a great time! The atmosphere was amazing! Service was phenomenal ! The oysters were perfect.
Amazing lobster rolls and great drinks
Great Lobster rolls and great drinks. Fun location.
The manager was so kind! We asked to move outside as we were seated in a room with a noisy crowd and they accommodated right away. Food was great. Drinks a bit pricey. We will definitely be back!
Drinks were phenomenal and the atmosphere is fun but the service and food were terrible. I ordered a ribeye and it was so dry I ate 3 bites and got rid of the rest. You’d think when they came to clear the table they’d ask why I didn’t eat my food, but nothing. Took forever to find the waitress whenever something was needed and they charged me full price including the steak I didn’t eat. There are many more restaurants in the area I suggest you choose one of those.
This was an enjoyable experience. The food was great. The service pretty good considering all restaurants are currently short staffed.
the food was delicious, service was spotless and the drinks were great! we had oysters, the original lobster roll and the margarita flight, all excellent! we sat on the patio and it was a really nice quiet ambiance. really nice time overall
Excellent & pleasant service - My Fish & Chips GREAT - wife had a very nice Caesar Salad & Fried Octopus prepared to perfection. Creme Brûlée was as good as it gets. Simply a truly enjoyable dining experience☹️
beautiful and delicious cocktails, lovely street-side ambience, and a grilled octopus that you should always order
So cozy sitting by the fire in July!
The server was so friendly and helpful
Interesting drink menu and the shrimp linguine was perfection
Pleasant Harvard Square ambiance. Excellent seafood lunch--I had swordfish with basil pesto and asparagus, and my guest had scallops. Outside dining pleasant. Only complaint--No coffee available!
We ate on the patio with our 2 small dogs. It was a lovely day. The staff was very professional and friendly. We started with the guacamole and oysters from the raw bar. Both were excellent. My husband and I had the fish and chips and our son had the salmon. All were absolutely fabulous.
Flavor was there, but food came out cold. Oysters came out full of shell and ice had fully melted. However, management was professional in addressing situation.
Waitress was nice! Food was absolutely terrible! Will not be going back! Watermelon salad was bad.. watermelon was soggy, no mint or almonds were on the dish, but were listed as main ingredients. Coconut shrimp came with 5 small shrimp and was not split-able between 2 people and definitely not worth the price.. I will not be going back and would not recommend featuring this restaurant on your platform!
Was pretty disappointed in the mussels meal. Was very bland. I’ve had this kinda meal at other places so I do know what good mussels are like. Also even after asking specifically if they had the corn and roast potatoes sides like the menu said and was told yes they did, just as my meal arrived I was told they were actually out of the potatoes then was told they’d sub it for fries which I actually didn’t want. I asked if they could make it a side salad instead but they said no which I thought was a bit ridiculous considering. Honestly would’ve gotten a different meal if I had been told beforehand. My friend also didn’t love his salmon. So for the price it was a waste.
This restaurant used to be excellent, but the new menu is disappointing, and the prices have gone up quite a bit.
Cocktails were fresh and balanced - only regret is not being able to try them all.
Great food, nice venue, would definitely recommend!
The staff there are so cool and have great recommendations. Also, the people watching at the location is superb.
Food was delicious. Don’t order the color changing cocktail, it doesn’t change color and it’s too sweet. Great dinner spot overall
It’s pricey, but not worth the money. Cocktail is whooping 16 bucks and the grilled octopus was so low quality. I came with a friend in 2017 and had a great time, but after this recent, disappointing experience, I would probably not come back here again for a while
I asked for a plain burger. (The chef had clearly taken cheese off and put a bun back on it)
I sent it back. The burger was very small. 18$
Service was a bit slow, appetizers came out different than expected (got bread + potato chips with an order of guacamole, brussel spouts described as crispy but served in a reduction sauce). Good vibe and atmosphere, but would not recommend
good food, pleasant atmosphere (we ate lunch outside), pleasant service.
All in all, Red House is a lovely restaurant.
We dined at the Red House Restaurant on Mother's Day. We had an early reservation (11:30am). They brought us to our own section and they turned on the fireplace which, was lovely. The service was wonderful, staff were kind and the food was amazing! We tried the Brussel Spouts (20 out of 10) as an appetizer - HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Our server even asked the chef how it was made and he shared it with us. The lobster rolls and salmon entree's were tasty. My mother loved her Blood Orange Martini which, they made special for her. Overall, I looked like daughter of the year bringing my mom to this quaint restaurant.
Mostly a place for kids, not really for mature adults
Loved everything about this place...great vibe on a Saturday night. Food and service were excellent....laid back and comfortable relaxing atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Wife and I got there on time for our reservation.
When it came to ordering drinks found out no lager beers on draft despite being on menu.
Ordered burger medium well. Got medium and very bland; like eating dried bread. Wife ordered salmon, again not really falvorful and quantity was questionable.
Should have stayed home. Advise the same.
Seafood Ceviche was the perfect appetizer. It was light, very flavorful and not watery like others. My group all tried the variety of lobster rolls they offer, and each person left very satisfied. We were also impressed by the eclectic cocktail menu. Great combinations of flavors and strong :)
Highly recommend the Margarita Flight! Wonderful dining experience, the waitstaff was attentive and offered great drink recommendations. The lobster rolls were delicious.
Everything was perfect—our table, the service, the food, and the vibe. All three generations of the family loved it.
Nice atmosphere, good server, and delicious food but the portions left much to be desired for those prices. $14 guacamole appetizer had 7 pita chips. My friend and I were looking forward to dinner all day, and I wish we had eaten a bigger meal for lunch that day. Everything was tasty but after sharing the appetizer and each getting our own glasses of wine and seafood entrees ($95 bill plus 25% tip) we were still fairly hungry when we left. Seems like a good place to go if you want good food, aren’t too hungry, and have a lot of money to spare.
Portions were tiny.
Enjoyed our night at the Red House. My burger came out a little overdone but my drinks (margarita flight) were delicious.
When we arrived we were told we would have to wait 40 minutes for a table even though we had a reservation. She did offer to let us sit outside in the rain and have a drink while we waited. We left. At 8:30 on a Friday night during Covid we were not left with many options. At the very least someone could have contacted us so that we could make other plans. We celebrated our anniversary on Saturday night instead.
It was ridiculously windy, but everything went well! Our server was really nice, food and cocktails were great, it is a fun place to splurge on some goodies. We got the small seafood tower, lobster, and linguini. Will do again!
happy place with great ambience and service! thank you
