Great food, quick service, super cute setting… I’d give this restaurant five stars overall. The appetizer special of brussel sprouts were amazing. Small setting but tables are spaced apart. The patio would be great in warm weather.
Plenty of space between tables. Prompt, cheerful service.
Service, food, ambiance were good. We enjoyed our evening.
Excellent menu. Lots of great traditional and unexpected seafood options. Courteous and efficient staff. Cozy atmosphere.
We had so much fun at The Red House for New Year’s Eve. We ordered delicious seafood dishes. The “flight of margaritas” and the “flight of botanicals” were delicious and so beautifully presented. The chocolate mousse dessert was simply to die for!
Our server was excellent, so friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was cozy and decorated very nicely for the holidays.
New Years dinner was very quiet and quaint. The atmosphere was very cozy and homey. We felt right at home in this pleasant environment that created a wonderful ambiance.
The octopus was amazing. The brisket was delicious. The server was attentive and friendly. Outdoor seating was still available for those who wanted it.
Good was incredible and staff was super friendly. Service was great. Can’t wait to go back!
The restaurant is very cute and everything on the lunch menu is great. Went with another couple and shared various plates and price was very reasonable.
A wonderful family holiday place complete with outdoor dining so we could enjoy each other !
Celebrate a promotion
We loved our menu choices (bowl of clam chowder was excellent as well as the black ink squid pasta with seafood) and everything that went with it. Highly recommend both. Server was very attentive and responsive. It's our annual tradition to dine specially at the Red House before we go to Revels.
I’m just going to say this spot NEVER disappoints! I loved the outdoor heated seating and during COVID, I felt comfortable seated where I was and my friend enjoyed it immensely. The drinks were spot on!
Went here for lunch, was looking for a place, other than the abundance of chains restaurants, near Harvard that offered more than your typical pub food or burritos to-go. We enjoyed oysters, chowder fries, salmon linguini, and jambalaya. Great find.
Recently returned to Harvard Square and decided to have lunch at one of my old favorites. It is under new ownership, I believe the woman who seated me is the new owner, she was lovely. The space is a lot brighter and the menu is more seafood friendly but still had plenty of other options, including braised short ribs. Overall the space continues to be one of my favorite places to eat when in the area.
Spontaneous lunch on Monday. The service was great, the food came out quickly, had a nice glass of wine. 'Vermont-style' cottage interior with fireplace. Will be back!
We had an amazing time- already can’t wait to go back. The atmosphere and food were extraordinary!
Thank you for a beautiful brunch!
What a wonderful place to have a dinner with old friends.
Since the last time we were there - last year things have changed. The menu has changed - no whole lobster, and the new menu was limited. Clam chowder was good, but Cheese in it??? Server was good, but left for long periods without attention. - for example sat at table with just water for 15 minutes. Host was friendly but should have been helping the server instead of just standing around looking at his I-pad.
Wont be going back.
Great local spot, small restaurant with feel-good food and cocktails.
I come here at least once a week but never wrote a review - super cozy neighborhood spot. Easy menu, good drinks, casual or date night.
found this spot while walking through harvard, grabbed lunch and had great service. Cocktails great and lobster rolls are fresh. Will be back.
Cozy, simple menu that all tasted fresh with bold flavors, great cocktails.
I had the pasta and a caesar salad, my friend had the clam chowder. We loved all of it and can't wait to come back. Definitely a great local spot.
I love this place and am happy they opened for lunch during the week. Everything is always great and the I like that it is woman-owned and local.
I came here in the summer and loved it. I sat inside this time next to the fireplace. Super cozy and had even better food this time around. Keep up the good work red house.
Walked by and decided to grab lunch - they have a nice festive patio with a lot of lights. We decided to eat outside as we noticed they had overhead heaters. We were warm ( the lobster and clam chowder helped with this nicely) - we had a great waiter and the music was lively. Overall a great time and I am glad we found this place.
Loved the food, had a great lunch there! Sat outside under heated patio. Great option if you are in harvard and want more than a burrito or burger. Pasta is made in house and you can tell - its delicious!
We loved the ambiance and the lobster rolls! Hope to come back soon!
Ordered a pitcher of sangria ….. tasted like cinnamon water… sent it back. Ordered octopus and it was undercooked. Ordered ravioli and it was inedible. Disappointing
Thanksgiving, prix-fixe. Turkey probably the worst ever served--dry, shredded, looked like and tasted like leftovers from last week. Ham inedible. Minuscule portions of potatoes and stuffing. A shameful ripoff.
Love this space, great food and good portions. Very New England
Service was fantastic, food was very tasty, had a table in front of the fireplace. Was a very nice homey restaurant overall.
Nice space on the porch. We’re happy to be able to enjoy the full menu outside.
Always wonderful! Great food, service and ambiance. Thank you!
We were a little disappointed after hearing positive reviews. We loved that they had an outdoor heated patio (a huge reason why we went). While my food (fish and chips) was good, my two companions thought the food was nothing special for the price (dishes either lacked flavor or were way too salty and, based on appearance, had canned ingredients). Too expensive for those kinds of concessions. They have some weird policies like no milk for the coffee, only cream, and no butter for anything. The server was nice and attentive but didn't understand the differences between the types of beer offered on the menu. Probably won't go back.
I want to believe that our experience was isolated, that staffing levels, etc. will create issues. Our reservation was at 4:00p, so it was not prime time. Everything sounded wonderful. When the swordfish arrived, everything on the plate was cold. the salmon linguine temperature was perfect. The swordfish was returned, and arrived back 10-12 minutes later, an awkward amount of time. New scoop of potato, but the fish and brocollini were nuked, so drier. What do you think? How should a $27 entree be treated in this situation? The salmon linguine was drowning in sauce, and try as I might, the salmon was totally inedible because it was way too salty. Was it the fish or the preparation? Don't know, but I left 80% on the plate. Great ambience, and the server was sincere, but was really disappointed.
In some ways, this place feels like they don’t get that they’re a restaurant. No decaf, no milk, no high chair/booster seat. The food is okay. The porch is a nice outdoor dining option.
