Welcome to The Red House at Marsh Benham

We are a local pub with a Bar, Restaurant and Private Dining room just outside Newbury.

We serve Great British food all day every day and you can pop in for a pie, a pint or a 3 course meal.

The bar, restaurant and private room are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, drinks and nibbles.

We serve a great Sunday lunch and when the weather is fine, the lovely garden is a great place to sit with a drink or to have something delicious to eat.

The Red House Private Dining Room is light and airy with fantastic views over the garden and fields beyond. It is a wonderful location for all kinds of events from drinks and canapés or a Summer Buffet,to a 7 course banquet. We don’t have a hire charge as long as you are dining and we create each event just as you want it.We are very flexible on menus and whilst there are some set menus for you to choose from we are very happy to create a bespoke menu with your own choice of dishes. Laurent is great at making cakes of all descriptions so if you need something special, just let us know.

I often eat here, mainly for lunch. There are plenty of tables outside for a drink or al fresco eating. Always given a good welcome and helpful service. Can recommend the steak &a kidney pudding, liver dishes, and lemon tarte.

booked on open table and the manager suggested we sit outside. when I ordered food they said that if you are sitting outside and want a tab you need to leave your card behind the bar. (Just in case I leave without paying?). Bad policy. Drinks were a rip off at £5.75 For a pint of peroni. Starter I ordered was not available but i was not advised until after i had ordered it and had sat down for my meal.waitress was nice and polite and attentive. food was nothing special. Very disappointed. Won't be back there I am afraid.

Good food, good atmosphere and good service. Using OpenTable we had requested a table in the bar but this was not available but we weren't told until we arrived. The manager suggested we should phone in future instead of using OpenTable.

Been to Red House several times in the last couple of months and the food has always been excellent. Had a special occasion hot buffet for 25 people and it was excellent, both the food & service. Brilliant value for money

we sat outside as a sunny day, the waitress was quick to take the order, which is good although we hadn't had chance to look at the menu, but this was because we were chatting, better like this than having to get someone's attention! Just had a main course which arrived in good time and was excellent, perfectly cooked fish. This was a business lunch, so easy to get in and out in an hour if need be, we had a little more time to spend. Overall good food, service and value.

Nice place. The reservation was easy to make, and thew staff welcoming. The bar (where we ate) was pleasant and busy, but conversation was very easy to engage with (and I'm a little hard of hearing). The tables are each have a little word game to play, for those married couples who've run out of things to talk about. The food was delicious, and the service attentive and efficient.

Great ambience and very friendly staff. we had Sunday roast, it was delicious we didn't think much to the choice of desserts but did find something delicious. We were not rushed and left to chat. There was a large party celebrating in a private room who seemed to be enjoying themselves. Will definitely go back.

I've come here many times over the last few years, sometimes just for a drink. Without fail the service is friendly and efficient. The food is plentiful and beautifully prepared and great value. This place is everything a country pub should be
