    We visited for our anniversary which we were congratulated on on arrival which was nice. Lovely, comfortable restaurant in a great location. Was quite quiet when we were there. Cocktails were great and arrived quickly. Order taken promptly. Starters (1 crispy squid and 1 ham hough terrine) both excellent. If marking down at all, we would have ordered a bottle of wine if someone had asked us earlier but after a wait, we ended up ordering just a glass each because we didn’t think we’d get through the full bottle in time. Mains were both great (1 steak and 1 stroganoff). Steak was ordered medium and came perfectly cooked. A really nice cut of meat too. Peppercorn sauce was missing but was corrected immediately. Dessert (cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding) were lovely. All in all, a great night. We were served by 3 or 4 team members. I would suggest (as constructive feedback), one server taking responsibility for each table. For example, we were asked for drink orders twice. Will be back again.

    Great first experience Kids menu full of classics. Great sized portions. Starter options for adults are great. Also good portion sizes Had the beef wellington special. Stunning dish. Big portion, I'd happily would have paid slightly more for it. All in all, our family had a great dining experience. Will definitely be back. Looking forward to trying the sister venues

    Children running around tables being noisy Service ok, long time to wait to order, had to ask to order meal, wrong drink arrived, had to ask for salt and pepper, wasn’t asked if meal was ok, food nice, was very quiet so wasn’t like staff were rushed off their feet. Very small dessert menu but good choice of mains and specials.

    We enjoyed our meals. The goats cheese started was excellent as was the cauliflower soup. The Waldorf salad with smoked salmon was lovely. The fish pie was good. Our only issue was the carbonara which we suspect had been sitting under heated lamp until fish pie ready. It was dry. However the staff were excellent.. ordered a new one and also didn’t bill us for it! We will definitely return

    Excellent experience, lunch was enjoyed by everyone (5 different dishes). Only small issue - when booking online the option for booking afternoon tea is not there (that I could see), and this has to be booked in advance.

    Waitress staff were extremely pleasant, welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately I did have some concerns regarding knowledge around gluten free. My daughter and I are both coeliac, I made them aware and when ordering. There were gluten free options but my mussel starter was served with regular gluten bread. I noticed is immediately, I asked for the bread to be removed and change the plate, the waitress didn’t seem to realise the cross contamination risk of not changing the plate. She did apologise profusely, but I feel there needs to be more awareness for the issues of people who are coeliac compared to gluten intolerance.

    Excellent meals, well presented and served. The Red Herring is comfortable, the service was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our three courses with wine

    Generally superb BUT I respectfully suggest that when offering Focaccia the more familiar thin pizza style is offered in addition to the “cake” as supplied

    I had read reviews about the time taken to get food ... we arrived 15mins early and despite lots of available tables they told us we couldn't order food until our table slot as the kitchen had a back log. Not a great start. We ordered drinks... 15mins after our table slot I had to ask a waiter to take our order (30mins now after we arrived). Our starters took 1 hour to arrive! I ordered bruschetta and I've never in my life been served a pale white bit of toast with salad tomatoes cut in 4 laid on top... despite our starters taken so long as soon as our dishes were taken away our mains arrived. Two of us had the chicken and haggis yet randomly there was no haggis! Such a shame as the setting is nice and the presentation of the food was nice but just not hitting the mark.
