As I said to the chap doing the seating and service I measured this against the standard of The Jam Jar and when it was Nairns and these were very good and I’m afraid there is a lot of work to be done to match these establishments. I felt the staff were frustrated and the young waitress had to keep apologising for the slowness of service which is never good as there weren’t many tables taken - I remember the Jam Jar being full and service was always excellent. We asked for water twice and it never arrived. I will say the venison was ok We were given a discount on the bill which goes someway to recompense but I’m not sure we’d come back too quickly

Excellent from start to finish! Can’t fault the food in any way. Great service and a nice relaxing Tuesday evening with the gentle background music. Staff very friendly and chatty. A must visit.

Great Sunday roast. The ariabiata could have been spicier.

First time back, since Jamjar days! Yes, is different but still very good - friendly staff, good menu (and prices). Look forward to visiting again more often.

Main course of halibut risotto was really tasty, but the banana bread and butter pudding was a bit bland: could have done with some ice cream maybe. No cheese & biscuits available for dessert, although it was on the menu - bit disappointing. My partner who is veggie & gluten free was accommodated well & enjoyed her arrabbiata main course, and the brownie & ice cream for dessert. Really friendly service & lovely atmosphere.

I was there for lunch and we got a table out on the back deck which was rather nice. Food great. Service friendly and relaxed.

Frustratingly poor quality food and little recognition of feedback when given. Unfortunately don’t judge a book by its cover. Nice decor, nice setting but fails to deliver in quality of food - all of our different main courses were substandard and fairly tasteless and one burnt! Management informed but not bothered. Unfortunately not a place to visit or recommend, especially as we are local to the area - a wasted opportunity by the owners to deliver a good dining experience

We had a lovely Mother’s Day meal at the Red Herring. Sandy the manager gave us a very warm welcome and looked after us the whole time, despite it being the busiest day of the year! Good variety of food on the menu, the pizzas were a stand out. Try the white hot chocolate for something different! The staff were friendly and helpful and the ambience and decor were both nice. Recommend it, and we will definitely be back!
