We had a great night celebrating our 30th anniversary at The Red Fox!! Perfect location and the food was delicious!
Excellent service, tasty food but Boston salad was very small( five bites) and cornbread was good but small size with limited serving ( 2nd request gave us two). Isn’t worth $125 per person + taxes + tips, estimated value at $70 per person.
The 4 course meal was exceptional from the first course to the last! Our waiter was wonderful!
We not only had a fabulous dinner but an excellent dining experience in the historic Inn. We started off with delightful ‘Foxtails’ as we perused the menu, then opted for the four course seasonal dinner. Our server, Andrew, was attentive and on target as he brought out the multiple courses- shrimp and grits, burrata and beet salad, salmon cake , sweet corn bisque, carmelized sea scallops and EXQUISITE rabbit. He answered our questions and was so gracious and genuine. We followed dinner with a flourless chocolate torte and a key lime custard. Every dish was not only flavorful but lovely in its presentation. A perfect evening to end the perfect day as we celebrated her birthday. If I had to find anything I was not pleased with it would be the corn muffins served in lieu of bread- way too sweet.
Great location, great food, outstanding service. We had a very nice anniversary dinner at the Red Fox. Will go back again!
A bit on the expensive side for the Inn's four course meal and individual drinks, but everything was superb. Highly recommended for a special dinner night out.
amazing amazing amazing. the best meal i’ve had in a long time. the waitress was so nice and helpful. i will definitely go back. and do not be put off by the 4 course dinner requirement. i don’t eat big meals. all the portions were just right
Excellent experience. Congratulations. Food is very elegant and balanced. It is a little expensive but best restaurant i know in the area so far.
Did the four course tasting menu, with the Old World wine pairing. Food choices were excellent, and the pairings superb.
I visit when I travel to northern Virginia. It has always rewarded my drive with an excellent dining experience and a sense of history. I highly recommend it.
Lovely garden dinning. Service was attentive. The drinks were an interesting gin and cucumber , refreshing. My husband ordered the famous duck and enjoyed the fresh vegetables. I had the trout and thought it well seasoned. Biscuits were delicious!!!
Overpriced and very poor quality food
Food was delicious. Service was fantastic. Will be back again!
Outstanding meal and service. Excellent and unique choices four all four courses. Outdoors too chilly, but nice and cozy upstairs. Will definitely consider for future special occasions.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. The historical background makes the experience the much more rich. The wait staff was excellent.
The food was delicious but you are definitely paying for the pleasure of eating in Virginia's oldest restaurant. A great choice for a special occasion.
Red Fox Inn never disappoints. Food was delicious, service was excellent and the outdoor sitting on a beautiful May evening was comfortable and spacious. My favorite restaurant in this área. Just wish they’ll bring back the crab cakes!
Food and service was great. Drinks were tasty. Quaint atmosphere. Located in a boutique area.
We arrived and decided to do the 4 Course Meal. It did NOT disappoint!! The portions were larger than expected. It was a heavy meal (potatoes and meat kind of place- not the portions you expect on a normal tasting menu). One critique is the use of blackberry Pinot sauce on the duck- too much for my liking. The roasted strawberry bread pudding was the best bread pudding I’ve had.
The price tag was reasonable given the experience- bottled water included. We sat outside, the tent and hanging gave off a wedding guest vibe.
Overall: excellent location if you are looking for a special occasion dinner!
The seasonal 4 course meal was wonderful. We were offered bread and the orange cranberry cornbread was flavorful. We had the beef wontons for an appetizer. Then the carrot bisque soup for me. It was great and served at the perfect temperature. I had the scallops and was allowed to substitute the crispy Brussels sprouts for the risotto. Everything was scrumptious. My husband had a steak which was cooked exactly as requested. We ended the meal with the key lime custard and the strawberry risotto bread pudding both of which were delicious.
The chef has a deft hand with seasoning. Just the right amount of salt in all dishes. In the Brussels sprouts was pork lardor which was cooked to perfection. Nothing was bland, which can sometimes happen.
Tara’s service was great. The meal was evenly paced and she was quite gracious and warm.
The only con was the restaurants failure to recognize our 40th wedding anniversary. I included this information in the reservation but nothing was ever said about it, although couples were being recognized all around us for a 1 year anniversary and a 24 year anniversary. Not sure what happened but it put a little damper on what otherwise would have been a very special evening.
Outstanding food and service. miles was very attentive and made our experience memorable. Must try the shrimp and grits.
The service and staff overall could not have been better. Charming and cozy dining room. The outdoor areas also looked very nice when we walked through on our way in. The food is where what could have been an awesome experience fell well below our expectations. The first and second courses were very good. The main course and desert courses were very average at best. For the cost, I would choose to go elsewhere in the future.
Excellent experience. The 4 course meal was all done perfectly with great flavor. Will return for sure.
First time dining at The Red Fox Inn. Loved the history, the building, the service, the food, not so much the bill but I’m cheap lol It was a very nice experience, would definitely recommend it!
The food and service are excellent however the price is not justified by the menu and ambiance. Better values and meals can be experienced in the area.
Wonderful food … ambiance only held back by ongoing government COVID-19 restrictions.
We enjoyed the four course seasonal menu! Every dish was beautifully served & delicious!
A fabulous night out to kick off our Middleburg getaway! The Spring Tasting Menu and wine pairings were top notch. We all ordered different choices, tried each other’s, and there were no disappointing bites. The Brie baked oysters and the rabbit with mashed potatoes were out of this world, but it was really all delicious. Our server, Justin, was a delight. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely get this on our list of “must return” restaurants!
Very good and great place to have a gathering with family.
The atmosphere was nice and the wait staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The courses were well paced and we enjoyed each of the suggested wine pairings. A bit pricy, but the portions are generous and we left very satisfied with our experience.
Tasting menu on the terrace.
Civilized and comfortable. Food was fabulous. My guests had the Virginia wine pairings and raved about them.
Wonderful dinner in a beautiful historic setting. The food was outstanding!
We did the small plates menu and found it interesting and well prepared. Good value and enjoyable. Excellent wine list
Fabulous food, fabulous service!
This was not a tasting menu. This was a full on 4 course meal described as a tasting menu. Food was amazing, our server (Andrew) was great and hilarious. Would highly recommend.
Good food, service and the property is beautiful! Had the small plates menu this time.
My wife and I had a fabulous dinner at the Red Fox. We also stayed at the Inn and everything was great. We will be back!
The food was good but I expected a lot more based on the price and website presentation. When all said and done, for a $400 dining experience (included tip) I have high expectations. I have had many meals that equaled or exceeded this meal for half the price. For my main entree I ordered the rack of lamb medium rare and it was prepared medium which was a big disappointment. I expected better from an establishment that presents as the Red Fox did.
