Great food and great atmosphere as always.
There was a special 4 course tasting menu. It was great especially nice because it was paired with Virginia wines. We come from California and wouldn’t have known what order to drink.
Our favorite place to have brunch. Outstanding french toast, lamb sausage and blood mary. Great, prompt, and very friendly service. Atmosphere is great but get a table in the back room or on the patio where it's a bit quieter.
For Sunday Brunch we took our visiting Indiana relatives to The Red Fox for fried chicken, mac and cheese, sausage biscuit and gravy, and those delicious pastries. Absolutely wonderful!
Celebrated our 10 yr wedding anniversary and ordered a very nice and expensive bottle of wine to accompany our meal. We were charged for all 4 courses of the preset menu when we only did 3 courses and no special dessert or treat or effort was made to help mark our special occasion. We are both Loudoun natives and chose red fox because we love it and wanted to celebrate there. This visit missed the mark for sure and what a bummer as it was a very special and kid free weekend for us!
Absolutely outstanding in every way. The restaurant is beautiful and historic. The food was phenomenal. The wait staff was fantastic. We had a person in our group with Celiac and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and able to offer safe options and we had no problems. There was also a toddler in our group and they were kind and excellent with him. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend.
Excellent food and service in an old town atmosphere. Very pleasant.
Lovely restaurant. Food and service was wonderful.
Would I recommend?? I guess, as there aren't that many other fine dining establishments in Middleburg. I was really surprised, though, that this restaurant was #1 in town. The food was good, but nothing special. I had the duck and my husband had the short ribs. The best part of the dinner, food-wise, was the roasted pear crostini. The venue is lovely, definitely a hunt country tavern. The really best part of the evening was our server, Ben.
Wonderful experience. After 45 years still the greatest.
Overall a very nice outing bit a bit pricey.
Excellent all around especially Sam our waiter. Looking forward to our next visit.
Food was only moderately good. I expected more from such a landmark establishment. Service was better than average. Ambiance was superb.
Red Fox Inn had great food. You are paying for the name but the food was excellent, flatbread, meatballs, wedge salad, date and toasted almond salad, salmon, duck and blackened tuna were all well prepared and excellent. I dont usually say this about food because I find fault with most dishes. I couldn’t do this here.
Great ambiance. Less than professional service, but waiter was young. Food was excellent. Fried chicken the BEST ever.
What a fun place. We ate outside on beautiful day for brunch and everything was excellent. Our server could not have been any nicer or more efficient and the food was great.
My girlfriend and I visited the Red Fox while we were staying at the Salamander, and were looking forward to an excellent meal. We had a later seating, so that might affect parts of this, but we came away with mixed feelings.
On the plus side, the food and beverages were really good - we both enjoyed our salads, and she loved her steak while I really enjoyed my crabcakes (sides were also excellent).
On the other hand, we were in the low-ceiling back room and the multiple tables of (at least) tipsy older women sort of ruined the ambiance. On top of that, as the other tables cleared out the staff came in and turned up the lights as if it was last call. Definitely didn't make us want to tarry over dessert or a night cap!
And finally, we were hassled by fruit flies throughout our meal. Not a big issue, but sort of the icing on the complaint cake.
We may try it again next time we're in Middleburg, but I'm curious what else is out there.
Attentive, caring but not "hovering over you" service, tasty fresh food, cozy surroundings, great choice of background music. We are and will continue to be repeat customers.
Excellent food, and excellent service, as usual!
Slightly overpriced but that’s to be expected in Middleburg. All of the food was excellent especially the gnocchi which was unique in that it was full of vegetables and less saucy. I would have liked to see more speciality cocktail options as 3 seemed slim. Walking through the inside felt dark and not a great vibe but the outdoor terrace had great ambiance, and I would highly recommend.
A lovely anniversary meal. The staff was quite kind and attentive.
We had an amazing time. Went for a our Anniversary and were greeted with wonderful hospitality and even got to go on a tour of the rooms. Our bartender was awesome and waitress was equally as good and bother were very attentive. We will be back again and hope to even stay in one of the rooms.
Amazing food and atmosphere. If you’re able to sit on the rooftop, I highly recommend it. So beautiful!
Great meal...really enjoyed the entire experience (ambiance, art, foot, service...EVERYTHING) including our server, Dakota who was great to talk to.
I treated a friend to lunch and was a little disappointed there was no room to sit outside. That said, the food and service was impeccable.
The food is as delicious
The food was great and there was plenty of it. The patio outside was delightful. Perfect.
Everything was good, but the amount of food was substantially less from what we ordered last time.
However, I might add that the price remained the same as our previous time.
We ordered the biscuit bowl for $10.00 and it contained 4 biscuits. Previously, it was at least 6-8 biscuits including scones and other pastries.
We also ordered the bacon platter for $7.00 and it contained 5 slices of bacon. Previously, it was at least 10 slices.
Next time, we'll skip those items, since we felt like we got gypped.
My husband and I visited the Tavern for brunch outside on Saturday and Sunday. We joined some friend on Saturday and everything was perfect! We liked it so much, we back on Sunday and brought our dog.
Sunday left much to be desired. We both ordered eggs benedict medium; my husband said I don't like the whites of the eggs runny. When we received the benedict, the eggs were hard inside. I mentioned this to the waiter and he stated that the gentleman said he didn't want it runny which is not what my husband said--he said "he didn't like the WHITES runny." In addition, we were not offered a second basket of pastries on Sunday.
While I'm certain the waiter was usually very good--he was very polite and business-like, I was disappointed with my meal because the waiter misunderstood what we wanted. He did offer to replace the eggs, we declined as we ate them as they were and he took my iced tea off the bill.
I've never had eggs benedict with hard egss in my life!
Excellent food in a beautiful setting on the roof top patio. The food here is creative and consistently top notch.
Was able to reserve a table last minute when family came to town unexpectedly. We all had such a wonderful time and our guests continued to rave well after we were home. The drive out through the bucolic countryside was a great prelude to our arrival. Our server, was filled with Red Fox Inn history and that delighted our family. The food was excellent! We had the halibut special, the rack of lamb (which they kindly split for 2 of us since it was a huge portion), and the gnocchi. The appetizer of chilled heirloom tomato soup was like you had pulled the tomatoes straight from the vines! It was so fresh!! All in all it was a delightful evening and we will certainly return!
We had a wonderful Brunch experience last Saturday at the Red Fox Inn! Outstanding service, food and ambience. The weather cooperated and we were able to sit on the beautiful patio. We will be back!
Birthday sinner was fabulous, as usual!
My daughter's birthday dinner was a total success. Our waitress was so very good, knowledgeable and attentive. The tavern is a pleasant place to dine in- the food was enjoyed by all.
The Red Fox Inn is a beautiful restaurant. We like the food but feel it’s overpriced for what you get. We go there on special occasions because it’s gorgeous in Middleburg, but we may try other restaurants when we visit the town again. The service was wonderful.
Everything excellent--especially the service! Thank you--we'll be back.
Wonderful food and service!
