nice quaint neighborhood restaurant. creative menu however somewhat limited in choices, which is not a bad thing as what they offer is done well and of high quality. good wine selection, Tuesdays are half off bottle prices. staff friendly and professional. décor is simple yet tasteful.
I have been to the Red Door several times, and for the most part, love it! My only "complaint" this time was the sort of things offered for brunch. Nothing falls within the "normal" category , and if you like more typical dishes, this is NOT the place to go! I would consider myself somewhat "adventurous " when it comes to foods, but even this menu left me floundering! Be careful here, and look at things carefully before booking!
This is a great neighborhood gem as well as good spot to meet people coming from different directions in the city. Just off highway 5 or 163, great, local ingredients make up excellent food and the ambiance is wonderful so you can actually hear and talk with your table mates.
First time here. Service was good, but a little on the slow side but we were there to dine. Good ambience, limited but tasty menu, intimate setting. Great time with my friends. Restroom facilities needed attention but I will give them another try since they did so well in other areas.
The food was excellent! Will definitely eat there again. The service was weak. No ice bucket for bottle of white wine, even though she said she was getting one. Restaurant was not busy. Observed the other server and he was very informative and attentive. Luckily, the food trumped all!
Dining at The Red Door is always a pleasure. Locally sourced ingredients and a creative chef make for a delicious and exciting menu. If you cate about what you put in your body, this is a place you can trust. If you just want a great, yummy dinner anx a good glass of wine, this is your place!
Although the service was great (friendly hostess and waitress), the food was definitely sub-par. For the price you pay ($26-30 per entree) the flavors weren't all there. For example, the Pork Chop that my dad and I both ordered was bone dry and tough - the only moisture present was from the sauce. My mom's Opah fish was good, but lacked balanced seasoning. My favorite dish of the night was my girlfriend's Squash Pasta, which was light, with a delicious, Alfredo-like sauce! Veggies were on point and well seasoned, cooked in a perfectly Goldilocks way (not over- or undercooked).
The Banana Cream Pie, although good, did not live up to the hype I expected! Probably a bit too much whipped cream, not enough banana. Probably would not be back, but thanks for the great service guys :)
Outstanding meal once again at Red Door. It's Farm to Fork week, and I'd swear that the vegetables were just picked out of Trish's garden. Started with a perfectly seasoned deconstructed greek salad, and then enjoyed a mushroom dish that was hearty and flavorful. My husband swooned over the eggplant parm, and he's generally not a swooner! Lovely toffee pudding to finish the meal. If the quality and source of what you eat matter to you, go to the Red Door!
The whole experience was weak. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu and it was served cold on a plate that had not been warmed. Waitress was distracted and not attentive. Maybe fine for a salad at lunch, but not for a meal at dinner with special friends. And it s noisy.
My friends think highly of this place so I had high hopes. The food was good, but didn't live up to its description. When you say "crispy chicken skin" that's what I expected. But it was in a sauce so the skin was flabby not crisp. The zucchini blossoms stuffed with potato was more like a mashed potato quinell. The pork schnitzel was good and the Carmel sticky bread was great.
But the service; was slow and inattentive. And it was too loud to speak with my wife without talking directly in to her ear.
Not for me.
The server told us the soup of the day was a vegetable chowder that was like clam chowder, but without the clams, and said we wouldn't miss the clams. She was oh, so right! That was the best chowder I've had in my life!
For an entree, we both had the catch of the day, which was Opah encrusted with walnuts. It was very good, but the sauteed vegetables on which it was served were even better. This place specialized in farm-to-market, and you can really tell.
Wonderful experience was marred by a large party of extremely loud diners, who laughed and talked and screamed like animals. No one from the staff appeared to be able to correct the situation. The dining room is small and their antics were clearly disturbing to all the other diners. We should have just left, but didn't.
We had a very strange experience with our server, who told us as soon as we had finished our main courses that she was "being kicked out"and needed to give us our check. The check arrived and we didn't immediately pay. The manager (I think it was the manager) came up to our table about 5 minutes later and said "I need you to pay now so your server can leave". I'm not sure why it was necessary to rush us through our meal so our server could leave. Usually when I am at a restaurant and there is a shift change of any kind, someone else takes care of the customer. It was very awkward and we all left with a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended- the food was pretty good).
