Overall good experience, I've been about 4 times or Soo, just a couple of things.
Food can be a little less salty and the noise level can be lowered in the back especially when a band is about to play. The levels can be every conflicting
Great place for teens and young adults. Too many young kids (certainly having fun) but it takes it from an upscale place to a Dave and Buskers alternative.
Was recommended by a friend to bring my teenage sons here when attending Raptors game. Food was fine but having the table for 1.5hrs is nothing when you spend 20min each time trying to find your server (for service or the bill...) The shooting hoops game was most popular and yet had 1/3 non-functional both days we attended. Would seriously hope for better if we returned... or would try the suggested “bigger one”/ Rec Room with more to offer, next time.
Service was very poor. Our server never came to check on us and every time we needed her, we had to go find her. Oftentimes she was behind the kitchen socializing.
Dinner service was super slow, we received our apps and main course cold. On top of that, some of the orders were wrong so they had to be sent back and had to wait even longer. Took 30 minutes to play our drink orders and receive them.
Arrived 20 min before reservation and even though the restaurant was only half full, they wouldn't seat us at our empty table. We had to come back at the time allotted. Waiter couldn't answer questions about the gaming area. Couldn't hear our waiter talk and he couldn't hear us.
The caesar salad had hardly any dressing on it at all.
Food was good for the value, wasn't told how to get Scene points for our purchases. Will probably come back again
This was our 2nd visit in under 24 hours and our 1st visit was amazing (Dane was our server) but this one was horrible. Our service was terrible. Server had no idea how to load our bands or how to grant credits. She didnt bring our sides we ordered and worst if all she gave us the wrong bill!! Probably the worst service Ive ever had.
I wanted to like this place. But unfortunately I couldn’t. Made a reservation for 7pm. Was running 7 mins late. Due to traffic. Tried called the #, couldn’t get a live person to let them know I was running late. Arrived and was told reservation was cancelled. They gave me a table beside the kitchen which had constant traffic back and forth. Food was horrible, service was mediocre. Had a waitress named Lisa, she was helpful. They weren’t busy, but there was a steady crowd of after work clientele. Games were just OK. Drinks at the bar were watered down. Place is run by cineplex odeon, so basically it’s crap. Would never go back here. Ever.
March break with our boys
I expected at least a “Happy Birthday” from one of the servers since I put a note saying we were celebrating in our reservation. Other than that had a fun evening.
I always have a great experience at the rec room. Great service and great food! The spicy chicken burger was delicious! The broccoli with feta bake yum! Thank you!
16th birthday - great conversation for the girls over dinner, and then just pure fun with the games and the Void. Planning a repeat for my son’s Tenth birthday!
We came for our son's 16th Birthday.... brought him & some friends. They had a great time.... just wish we had more time at our table. Hard to get all the food...then get the cake done within 2 hrs. Trying to carry coats around after we got kicked out of the table...and trying to find somewhere for my husband and I to wait for the kids while they played.... was a tad tricky.... might be night to extend the table time. As our waitress was super...but way over booked herself...so she didn't have the time to always attend to us. (not her fault).... seems she was all over the place. Any who...we would recommend the Rec Room. Was our first time coming...and we enjoyed the food, the games...and the location is awesome. Will come again in the future...
We had a lot of fun and to be honest our waiter was one of the best I have ever had anywhere. I am terrible at remembering names which is unfortunate as I would like to thank him. He even encouraged us to have the banana sticky toffee pudding which was yummy. Just a nice, nice guy who represents The Rec Room well. Congrats on a good hire.
A lot of fun, the food was great, service excellent and the games were entertaining.
Don't go for the food or service - the games are fun!
This was my first time going to the rec room and all I have to say is that I enjoyed it greatly. In fact I can not wait to go again.
So if you visit a place like the Rec Room, you can surely expect high voice levels. That's the least of my concerns. I think the place itself serves good ambience for whats its for. The games are diverse and great. Food was good too and value reflects that. But they do need to work on improving their customer service. The servers and their people skills are poor. Compared to the quality of service generally offered in restaurants in Toronto, this place still needs work. Not bad overall if you do not set high expectations and are there to experience a light, casual, chill environment. However, i will not reccomend this place if you are looking to celebrate any special occasions.
It took 15 minutes for someone to wait on us. Before we were waited on us servers came up to us asking if we really were sat where we were seated by a hostess or if we just sat down (we had a reservation). Our child never received her drink that came with her kids meal. The 6 person table that was seated next to us sat down after us and received their food before us. We never received the dessert that was supposed to come with our child's meal either.
This place is a joke. The food is terrible and the service was even worse. Went there on Family Day WITH a reservation and couldn't believe the lack of staff. Meanwhile loads of free tables. Waited for our drinks for 20 mins and received one meal at a time. Don't waste your money. Will not be returning here.
Amazing time as usual! The service was great and the games fun! Even though there were a lot of families (as expected), the wait time was never too long and we spent a great day there.
The spicy chicken sandwich was bad but the rest of the food was decent. The kids eat free deal was a disaster. No one knew how it worked and our server had to redo our bill to figure out how to apply the free meals. Other than that we had a good time.
The food was less than desirable, it was bland and needed more healthy choices as a whole. There was not enough wait staff on a family holiday?! Felt badly for the staff that were on as they were forced to run around for too many people, therefore, their service suffered as a result.
Overall the venue was great, the kids loved it.
they make it really difficult to spend money - everything is no we cannot do that
Awful experience for the second time. Disorganized at hostess desk. Sat and left for 15 mins before someone approached. We were going to miss virtual reality that we booked so had a quick pizza which is not what we wanted. Last time dining there. Hopefully they get their act together
I love The Rec Room. My current partner and I had our first date here and we just came back for our 3-month, so it has been nice. The only issue is that everything here is very expensive so plan accordingly, otherwise I highly recommend coming here for any event.
I celebrated my birthday here. It was just exciting! I always wanted to visit such a place with lots of games and stuff
Horrible experience. No service 2.5 hours and didn’t receive our full meals.
To be honest. No I would not recommend the Rec Room. The hostess was very condicending to me, and my party. We waited about 40 mins before a waiter came over to take our drink orders/introduce themselves. The food runner got mad when he had to ask twice whose food was he holding.
The server took half of my parties order and about 45 mins later the food arrived about 20 mins after that he came back to take the other half of the tables order ( which we had all been sitting there the entire time wondering where he went) So have the table ate almost 1:30 earlier then the other half of the table.
we arrived at 7:50 and didn't finish our food till midnight. It was ridiculous.
When my food did arrive- the mac and cheese, some of the noodles were hard at the ends like they were from the day before and you could tell it had been sitting in the pass waiting awhile for it to be ran to the table, because the cheese was cold and hard on top.
Also 2 people could not eat because there was no gluten free options. When the waiter was asked, he just said no, instead of trying to find a solution.
This the best place I have been to in years. It’s like a chuck cheeses for adults. Love it and will definitely be back. Way to go !!
We arrived around 530 Friday and it was just starting to get busy. Checked our coats easy peesey. The games are loud and big, still able to carry a conversation with our crowd. Dinner reservations at 745 went smooth, food was upscale and very tasty. Everything was served hot for the seven of us. Nothing was burnt or under cooked. Enjoyed or time there, the kids loved the VR experience.
Wait staff was great !! Some of the security staff need to work on their people skills. We had guests from our Seattle and Dublin office visiting with us and the way security spoke to us did not leave a good impression
Food was prepared well and delivered orderly. Games were fun and fairly priced, prizes were entertaining. The Void was an amazing experience! Highly recommended to any looking for a good time!
Besides our disorganized server all else was on point. Food was tasty., typical menu wings burgers nachos etc.
Service was slow. They didn’t toast the English muffins for the eggs Benedict (even though we specifically asked). It was noisy even though there was hardly anyone there. We were seated next to the open kitchen - terrible. Everything we asked for took forever to get. Wouldn’t eat there again.
It was really nice of s place to go but I didn’t get to celebrate my birthday by getting a happy birthday song
I love the rev room for the games but the food is mediocre at best.
This is a great venue for a small or large group to be able to play and have fun (adult or child) while eating or drinking, or both. The prizes to buy with tickets at the end were attainable, and a lot better quality than places like Chuck E Cheese.
Feedback - I wish the menu had kids specific options, other than the one item on the brunch menu (eggs).
Also, I was on crutches due to a broken leg, and getting to the bathroom required going up 4 stairs, and then down 4 other stairs; I also did not see a handicap washroom option. On the way back I was told there was a ramp, but to get to it, I had to go through a crowded dining room and everyone had to move their chairs, so it was easier (although more dangerous) to go back down the stairs with crutches.
Dinner was delicious and the games were nostalgic and fun! Brought 2 kids (4&8) and they had a blast! Games were More suitable for the 8 year old but the little one had fun too! As a mom, I liked that they placed a section with scarier games geared for adults set away from the main games - that way kids don’t stumble into that section easily and you have more control over what kids are exposed to. Kids are only allowed until 10 or 11 pm.
