Food was fantastic and setting is a good looking restaurant. Slight slow service but could be forgiven as we all know Covid does change things
Some odd questions from staff about did I realise how expensive the drinks I was ordering were, clearly I don’t look like I can afford them lol
But what I will say is the chef has got the menu down to perfection and was cooked to perfection as well! I will expect too see him at London restaurant before too long, so get to Reading before he goes
We had 7 course meal with the accompanying wine selection. The food was amazing, tasted great with incredible presentation.
Staff very helpful and welcoming. Good food and good drink.
An excellent meal served outdoors in the courtyard - just about warm enough. We had the tasting menu and it was very good and would highly recommend.
Everything was amazing! Lovely place & service, and the food really delicious.
Amazing great ambience . The food was amazing . Really enjoyed my experience
Without a doubt the best meal I’ve had in a while! The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the cocktails were perfection.
I didn’t get a picture of the truffle linguine but I would highly recommend!
We had the 7 course tasting money. The first 3 courses were delicious but all were too small. The pork belly was particularly tasty but far too small. The beef was nicely cooked and an excellent cut. The real disappointment came with the Pasion Fruit and Raspberry Mouse it sounded great and we were very much looking forward to it, the biscuit was very hard and very dry ruined the desert, not good at all. The wine by he glass worked well and were reasonably price. The Maître D looked after us really well and all the staff were welcoming and efficient. The ambience is good and it was calm and quite - very comfortable. So overall very good and good value for money.
We enjoyed a cocktail before our meal in the bar area and were seated on time in the restaurant. We had decided to treat ourselves to the tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed all the courses. The food was very well presented and delicious. The service was attentive but not overpowering, and both of us were served at the same time (in some restaurants this is not always the case).
What an amazing place! I’ve found my new favourite place to eat in Reading. Malcolm and all the other staff made the evening excellent!
Fantastic experience in Reading for a couple: good atmosphere, exceptional set menus, attentive and smooth service. All five starts. Have not seen anything like this in Reading and We will back.
I booked this restaurant for my family to celebrate my brother’s engagement. As they knew it was for a celebration, without even having to ask, they had reserved for us a private room and the chef had sent us complimentary tasters to make the occasion even more special. They were so attentive and kindly put ‘congratulations’ on the dessert. The food was absolutely divine and the service was one of the best I’ve seen. No complaints whatsoever. Absolutely highly recommending to all.
Always a lovely experience. Great food, service and setting. Thank you!
just been back its now called the reading room, the food was excellent but it was empty and soul less i supose a typical hotel restaurant its a shame because the staff and the cooking are really very good.
There were four of us for dinner. The food was high-end and fantastic, the best we've had for some time. We will be back soon for the tasting menu.
I used to eat here when it was known under a different name and the new decor is very different, think modern, high class boutique hotel rather than they previous romantic/fading nightclub theme.
They are accepting very few covers so it was not at all busy but this also meant very few staff so it was occasionally hard to catch the eye of a waiter. The food overall was good and my vegetarian friend was particulalry pleased that they didn't take the usual 'v' option cop outs. I had a passable but not brilliant Chicken roulade which was slightly overcooked but slipped down well with an excellent Riesling. My main course was pan-fried Salmon and was on a completely different level - perfectly prepared and delicious. Portion sizes were reminiscent of nouvell cuisine however and at £20 per head for a set two course lunch its not the sort of place you're going to nip to for a spot of lunch on a regular basis unless you enjoy poor value. The wine list had some good depth and prices weren't terrible but it was clear to see where the profit lies. I understand they are offering cream teas in later afternoon and I'll probably give them another opportunity to empty my wallet as overall it was a very pleasant experience if you are looking for a chance to chat and drink rather than setup for a night on the town.
Sampled the tasting menu and wine flight. The chef was happy to accommodate a request for a change on one meal on the menu and the food was delicious! The wine pairings were all amazing and we had a really enjoyable evening.
Wow. Our expectations were high, but saying this place exceeded those expectations does not do it justice. Very fine dining in a totally unpretentious setting. Friendly staff and vibey soundtrack keep things casual. Exactly the right level of attentiveness. Top marks. Perfect for our anniversary meal, but will suit any treat-worthy occasion.
Delicious food, wine and cocktails. We stayed at the hotel on a dinner, bed and breakfast package so our meal was included. We didn't get the added extras such as bread or amuse bouche but we were really happy with quality of the food and the service. Would highly recommend and will be returning again soon.
Enjoyed a lovely meal as we celebrated
our anniversary. The room decor was great, the food excellent, and the service was top notch (even provided us with a free glass of champagne as we sat down). It was also no bother when we asked to be moved as we had been located in front of one of the entrance doors and there was an extremely cold draught (not sure why were initially sat there when the rest of the restaurant hadn't filled up yet?)
Very safe but without hindering the experience. Food was great as always and staff were attentive and welcoming.
Tables were well spaced and all staff wore masks and gloves.
The Readimg Room was very quiet last Sunday, like many other restaurants in current times. Service was excellent and attentive. Covid-19 measures were enforced in a pleasant, professional manner. The food was a game of two halves: we had the steak, pork belly and halibut which were wonderful; beautifully cooked and very well balanced. The desserts and coffee were fantastic too. The velouté was very disappointing - velouté should be like silk, this was more like cotton. The truffle oil was of very poor quality, barely traceable in the dish. I would avoid this dish and truffle based dishes in general until the restaurant invests in higher quality materials. Nevertheless, we would go back again as we enjoyed our meal and atmosphere.
Pros: Nice ambience, plenty of room with lots of space between tables so felt safe, great aircon during this recent hot weather and excellent attentive staff. The caprese starter I had was good and the vege burger delicious.
Cons: Reduced menu during COVID not updated on website - staff were apologetic and removed the parking charge as a goodwill gesture. We came for a specific dish which wasn't available. Pricing wise a little too expensive. Not clear on website you have to pay for parking.
The place was following all the guidelines due to Covid. Food and service was good, better than last time I was here.
Went here was amazing place to eat great food and prices
Very good night out. I was impressed with their meticulous cleaning and care to maintain distance. The food was stellar and the service impeccable. My only note was the music was a little loud and made conversation a little tricky, but nothing that came close to spoiling our evening. I would highly recommend a visit.
Extremely well looked after by the whole team. Very professional staff and service was excellent :) The staff members are also following strict COVID protocol. Thank you so much for an excellent experience!
Was great thanks for having us, food was lovely - would recommend.
