The Raymond Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I have loved this restaurant since I moved to Pasadena in the early 80s. Recently, I had a friend visiting from Sacramento and she loved the Restaurant. However, she was pretty shocked that we were charged $25.00 for the corkage fee as she has never experience this high charge. It practically ruined our evening. I would never bring wine for our dinner.
Thank you, Yoland
Meh! Have been here several times, mainly for brunch. This time we came for dinner and it was strictly okay. They dinner offerings are somewhat limited. I ordered their layered pasta and beef dish which is neither a pasta or beef dish. It appears to be bits of beef prepare in a stew sauce with vegetables and pieces of pasta the size of wafers. Odd, skimpy, and perhaps not the best choice. Moreover, the service was definitely lacking. We waited interminably for our food. We also had to ask an attendant to please find our waiter since we wished to order dessert and we hadn’t seen him in a half hour. All in all, it was okay.
We arrived and our reservation was acknowledged. We were seated on the patio and waited probably 15 minutes or water and a waiter. We ordered salads and a quiche and waited another 25 minutes, when we were told that a kitchen mishap had occurred and we could not have the quiche. No problem, salads were served and were very tasty. We waited longer and this was even acknowledged, as they took the drinks ordered off our bill. I love this place, but it is too
stressfull, unless you have all day.
Food was very mediocre - ranging from tasteless to inedible (too salty/spicy) and the service was mediocre as well - very slow. But we did receive a credit for our starters because the service was so slow. Also, cocktails were super expensive - $14 for a Bloody Mary!
Menu is strange, overpriced and highly untraditional with no outstanding items. However, the service and atmosphere was wonderful. The restaurant host was extremely helpful and accommodating and all the front of house staff were wonderful. Unfortunately we will not be going back.
We had reservations, but we were seated in the entryway - a small noisy room by the bathrooms with no charm. The food was good with nice presentation. I suggest requesting a patio table when making the reservation. It was our first visit so we didn't know to try that. Cappacinnos were cold and our waiter argued they were not, but eventually he brought us fresh hot ones, but turns out they were not the decaf we ordered even tho he assured us they were. I think with a different table location on one of the patios and a different server it would have been very nice. Valet was full, but had no problem parking close by on the street. Lots of nice places to choose from nearby, so doubt we'll go back.
While we ate lunch there on an exceptionally hot day, the outside patio was reasonably comfortable with the roof, drop-down shades and greenery. However, we did notice how good the air conditioning felt inside when using the restrooms. Having the inside fireplace going along with the air conditioning created a nice ambiance and made it a truly California experience!
Fun place with good food and GREAT friendly, helpful, and proactive staff.
The Outdoor seating is much less noisy than inside and has a very nice ambience.
TOP feature was our WONDERFUL server - Kristina! She greatly exceeded even high expectations - know what we wanted/needed before we did!
Great hostess also who even remembered my favorite patio table (next to the fountain).
You can always count on the Raymond to have delicious food, a cute relaxed quiet ambiance, and delicious cocktails. Its great for brunch or drinks. I recommend the bruleed grapefruit, the dutch baby, the french toast and sausage, and Ramos Fizz. I admit I don't love the apple fritters, as I find them to be a bit bland. Excellent service and multiple outdoor dining spaces make for a fun dining experience regardless of the time of day.
The patio was lovely. Service was excellent and attentive. The Brunch was absolutely amazing. I don’t know how they make their eggs so fluffy and delicious. I had the avocado omelette and my husband had the French toast. We shared bites of each other’s dish. Both were excellent!
First time - sat in the garden. I eat out often.
My steak salad was delicious; served tastefully.
My friend likewise enjoyed her entre. The Philipino
waiter was excellent. The women who greeted us were cheerful and attentive. We enjoyed our table in the garden.
I think your prices are reasonable, considering the quality.
I had heard good things - you lived up to my expectations.

Situated in a craftsman house, this restaurant offers a casual vibe combined with nicely professional service. The appetizers were especially imaginative. Also the seasonal crafted cocktail list with fun names. The lamb was great. My duck was a bit tough but flavorful.
A nice change from noisy gastropubs.
Brought friends from out of town - party of 6. Love to come here for the quick bites and small plates. We are able to order a variety of items for all to enjoy with their amazing hand crafted cocktails. Often we don't make it to the entrees as we will order several rounds of small plates. Food is always seasoned well and we love that the items seasonally rotate. Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable and are able to help navigate the changing menu. Never have sat inside - no matter the season we tend to love the patio. Our favorites from this last visit were the cauliflower, mussels, roasted beets, oysters and octopus and bone marrow. Will continue to keep this spot on our rotation of gems.
Took two out-of-towners for Saturday Brunch. I always get Eggs Benedict. Eggs cooked perfectly and Hollandaise light. They both got the Huevos Montuleatos and raved about them. Cinnamon roll for started and apple fritters for dessert. It was a perfect day on outside patio. Always a favorite place for me.
The Raymond never disappoints. Birthday brunch Sunday was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their plate, plus the apple fritter and cinnamon roll starters. Best darn Bloody Mary I’ve had out since I was there last time. Finished up with a complimentary crepe brûlée for the birthday girl - me. Fabulous!
Over was a cute place feels like a house they have different rooms. Food was fairly good manhattan was good, some item are not worth the price like the salad for over $12 but you just get lettuce nothing else no onion, no fruits, nothing special just plain lettuce of on a plate with dressing & pepper on the side in a bottle. The octopus was tender but I asked the waitress if we can remove the bone marrow for more octopus she was friendly said "yes" but we didn't get more octopus without the bone marrow, bread was kind of oily can't imagine eating that with rich bone marrow (i like bone marrow just didn't feel like it that night). Flank steak was good flavoring, again small portion 6-7oz for $35
Pork belly need some work fat part need be broil more or cooked longer meaning cook on all sides so will be more crunchy. French press taste very burn taste like brew coffee has been sitting in a pot for a while. Overall was a cute place I do like the creative menu items but we just love the steaks, food, drinks the genuine friendly service at Arroyo Chophouse in Pasadena.
