The Raymond Restaurant
The restaurant is housed in the former caretaker's cottage of the storied Raymond Hotel. It is a slice of Pasadena’s historic past and carries on it's great traditions of hospitality and architecture with it's indoor cottage seating and outdoor craftsman style patios.

It was our anniversary. Thought we would receive a small dessert compliments of restaurant.
Came in with my son while I visited from out of state. Loved the style of the place- it reminded me of an Inn I dine at near Boston. After reading the history of the place, makes sense! Food was great and service was awesome. I’ll be back when I visit here again!
The menu has changed but not in a good way. Appetizer was undercooked, steak salad is not a separate selection now but an added protein to a pitiful selection of blah salads
After years of being a perennial lunch place for me, it is now off the list entirely
My husband and I haven't been to The Raymond in a number of years, their menu had changed, it was a smaller menu for dinner. We had a variety of appetizers, hummus, mussels, roasted cauliflower, all very tasty. Our entrees were the salmon, duck and pork chop, again very good presentation. We sat in the patio and nice to see the evening light coming in thru the planted trees and an ambience water fall. Very pleasant! If I had a recommendation I would advise the staff to pay closer attention to the customers, as they would disappear and didn't come by to check if we needed anything. The waiter also poured coffee into my mug of tea, having forgotten there was a pot of tea on the table. It's the little things that make a difference and it seems they were not as on the ball as they could of been. Having said this, we may go back again on a weekend to see if it is any different.
Lovely brunch experience on the patio
Great food, very disorganized service. We had 3 different waiters, none of which knew what the other was doing, and got one of the orders all wrong. Blood Mary’s are too spicy, but the eggs Benedict were superb.
Beautiful and elegant as well as cozy and relaxing. Great food and friendly professional service in a historic Pasadena locale.
Went for Saturday brunch. I still have not stopped resenting the fact that they took the little apple fritters off the menu. We had excellent bloody Mary’s. We both had the chilaquiles. They were not my favorite dish for sure. The tortillas should be fried but these seemed to have missed that step. The over easy eggs were so slimy with uncooked white that it was pretty disgusting. Afterwards we decided to share the cinnamon roll which made up for a lot. It was a birthday but nothing was ever mentioned, but that’s a small point. I hate to say that my last 2 or 3 visits to The Raymond have all been off by a notch or two. It makes me nervous when that happens to a place you’ve loved for a long time. Hopefully it’s just a temporary slump.
Our pork chops was over fried rice which was so overdone it was practically dripping with water, and it was so soggy and mushy. Our duck was over farro which was so underdone it was still crunchy. One of our drinks had lipstick on the glass as well. Not a great experience.
The food, drinks and service were outstanding. Will definitely return.
I made a last minute reservation and was seated on the back patio. The patio was perfect for a Sunday brunch with shade, quiet and just a few tables. Our server was personable, efficient and helpful in navigating our brunch options. The food was delicious and came out very quickly. We had the cinnamon roll, Mexican eggs Benedict, quiche of the day and the avocado toast. As it was a celebration, we also enjoyed a mimosa and Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary had a nice kick, and the mimosa was perfectly refreshing. Excellent spot that always delivers:)
We usually enjoy it and have been often. However my eggs were runny and the sides we small -tiny arugula salad and potatoes it seemed weak for $15. My mom loved the Dutch baby which is why we went. Seemed expensive for so-so food . Been going there over 20 years, I will probably take a break from it.
Very limited choices on the menu, but food was good and service was very good.
Good food and service. Outdoor space is lovely but has noise from adjacent street.
The Raymond has been my wife’s favorite restaurant for years and still is; classy but not pretentious, expensive but worth it (and not too expensive). Our waitress was wonderful it was our 20th year marriage anniversary and she brought us two glasses of champagne unexpectedly.
Food was "OK". Was last there 2 years ago and the food was notably better. Service was great (except for the indifference to the following issue).
We were seated outside. There was a rat running around the entire dinning area and under the tables ALL NIGHT! The staff didn't seem to care at all. We had friends from the West Side who usually invite us to dine with them at high end restaurants In LA and the West side. We asked them to meet us in Pasadena for a change since we live further East and it's a long drive for us. What an embarrassment - mediocre food and rats!
This is a one of a kind restaurant. Excellent food, ambiance and service
Great food, relaxed and beautiful outdoor seating. Went for brunch and would definitely go back.
Hands down one of the best meals we have enjoyed in Pasadena CA. I ordered Salmon which was perfectly prepared with a horseradish lemon sauce on a bed of asparagus. My husband ordered the roasted chicken also well prepared with mashed potatoes. For dessert, we enjoyed a delicious rich chocolate semifritto. Delicious!
We sat in the Patio by their water feature. Such a lovely restaurant and our server Robert was so attentive ! My friend and I are on Keto diet and their kitchen accommodated our requests to modify our dish. It was delicious! Thank you so much! We will be back!
Requested a table away from others for date and the hostess made sure that was saved for us
I am so glad this restaurant is in the Pasadena area; it is elegant and great for special dinners or just for a drink at the bar. The food is always excellent and the desserts are especially good. They seem to have a real chef doing the desserts and do not just serve the tired options of no flour chocolate or tiramasu. We had a taro panna cotta that was off the charts good. Thanks for a new taste experience.
We wish the lighting in the dining rooms, at least the one we were in had been a bit brighter.
We made reservations for the Raymond for brunch to celebrate a birthday. The service is excellent and outside seating perfect for a warm summer day. The curry dish tasted wonderful. We tried the Taro Panna Cotta for dessert (Not the best..it was a little milley and too much gelatin so stiff.) the best part is that there was no rush so we could take our time and enjoy the celebration.
It was a lovely evening celebrating our anniversary. Food was great, staff was great, and ambiance was wonderful.
Lovely old, historic House in Pasadena. I haven't been there for years and I don't know why! Went there on a whim and I'll be sure to get back soon!
The Raymond is the best. The food is always terrific, the ambience is a perfect mix of casual, elegant, cozy, and romantic. The service is an example of how it should be done.
Great service. Food was delicious. We ordered from Dine LA menu and was more than enough food. Will definately return.
Brunch. Sat inside because of the heat. Quaint place and the menu was good. Had a Bloody Mary that was spicy! Saw lots of groups in the patio. Good place for kids but only at brunch on the weekends.
Our first time at this restaurant was last Thursday for dinner, met friends visiting from out of state. We were greeted promptly with a smile, the whole staff was wonderful. We sat outside in their lovely patio area, which is a very tranquil experience. The craft drinks, appetizers down to the main course, (pork chops) was excellent. I highly recommend this fine restaurant.
My mom and I went to the Raymond for dineLA restaurant week. Great ambiance outdoors. I ordered the roasted cauliflower, the cashew cream pasta, and the chocolate shell
Food was delicious. The outdoor patio was lovely. The salad was so fresh and taste like it came straight from a farm. We went for lunch during DineLA. It was a great value.
Nice experience at a quaint restaurant
Restaurant has lost its way. Instead of serving well prepared basic dishes, it continues to try to be trendy without much success.
Great ambiance and decor in this old vintage restaurant and each dining area is unique and very relaxing :)
Another lovely evening on their beautiful patio.
Love the setting and the easygoing vibe. Drinks in the patio, then dinner there too-no problem!!
Delicious salmon dinners. A must come back place!!
We had not visited The Raymond in over 20 years, but thought it the ideal location for our 35th wedding anniversary. I do not consider myself in any way a "foodie", but I must say that the meal was quite extraordinary. Add to that the lovely ambiance of outdoor seating and the attentive servers and it was a lovely evening all around
I was an hour late arriving for the reservation, although the other 2 people in my party arrived on time. The manager could not have been nicer, more accommodating and friendly. And he had a great sense of humor! It made what could have been a disaster into a very pleasant dining experience among 3 long-time friends.
Steak ordered medium plus, came out over seasoned and rubbery in texture. Salmon served on plank with rest of meal, veggies were falling off the plank. Drinks were amazing.
