The Raymond Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Fun place with good food and GREAT friendly, helpful, and proactive staff.
The Outdoor seating is much less noisy than inside and has a very nice ambience.
TOP feature was our WONDERFUL server - Kristina! She greatly exceeded even high expectations - know what we wanted/needed before we did!
Great hostess also who even remembered my favorite patio table (next to the fountain).
The patio was lovely. Service was excellent and attentive. The Brunch was absolutely amazing. I don’t know how they make their eggs so fluffy and delicious. I had the avocado omelette and my husband had the French toast. We shared bites of each other’s dish. Both were excellent!
First time - sat in the garden. I eat out often.
My steak salad was delicious; served tastefully.
My friend likewise enjoyed her entre. The Philipino
waiter was excellent. The women who greeted us were cheerful and attentive. We enjoyed our table in the garden.
I think your prices are reasonable, considering the quality.
I had heard good things - you lived up to my expectations.

Situated in a craftsman house, this restaurant offers a casual vibe combined with nicely professional service. The appetizers were especially imaginative. Also the seasonal crafted cocktail list with fun names. The lamb was great. My duck was a bit tough but flavorful.
A nice change from noisy gastropubs.
Brought friends from out of town - party of 6. Love to come here for the quick bites and small plates. We are able to order a variety of items for all to enjoy with their amazing hand crafted cocktails. Often we don't make it to the entrees as we will order several rounds of small plates. Food is always seasoned well and we love that the items seasonally rotate. Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable and are able to help navigate the changing menu. Never have sat inside - no matter the season we tend to love the patio. Our favorites from this last visit were the cauliflower, mussels, roasted beets, oysters and octopus and bone marrow. Will continue to keep this spot on our rotation of gems.
Took two out-of-towners for Saturday Brunch. I always get Eggs Benedict. Eggs cooked perfectly and Hollandaise light. They both got the Huevos Montuleatos and raved about them. Cinnamon roll for started and apple fritters for dessert. It was a perfect day on outside patio. Always a favorite place for me.
The Raymond never disappoints. Birthday brunch Sunday was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their plate, plus the apple fritter and cinnamon roll starters. Best darn Bloody Mary I’ve had out since I was there last time. Finished up with a complimentary crepe brûlée for the birthday girl - me. Fabulous!
Over was a cute place feels like a house they have different rooms. Food was fairly good manhattan was good, some item are not worth the price like the salad for over $12 but you just get lettuce nothing else no onion, no fruits, nothing special just plain lettuce of on a plate with dressing & pepper on the side in a bottle. The octopus was tender but I asked the waitress if we can remove the bone marrow for more octopus she was friendly said "yes" but we didn't get more octopus without the bone marrow, bread was kind of oily can't imagine eating that with rich bone marrow (i like bone marrow just didn't feel like it that night). Flank steak was good flavoring, again small portion 6-7oz for $35
Pork belly need some work fat part need be broil more or cooked longer meaning cook on all sides so will be more crunchy. French press taste very burn taste like brew coffee has been sitting in a pot for a while. Overall was a cute place I do like the creative menu items but we just love the steaks, food, drinks the genuine friendly service at Arroyo Chophouse in Pasadena.
Such a marvellous place for an anniversary dinner, food was brilliant as the service and their luscious libations makes me want more, we had asked to be on the patio but there was a huge party of obnoxious and loud guest which should have told us to dine inside instead, we know for the next time.
We came for my birthday party based on seeing other good reviews. We were not disappointed...I am pesco-vegetarian and gluten free and the chef easily accomodated and modified a particular dish I wanted (King Crab Etoufee) which was out of this world amazing. Every bit of appetizer and food was great. Service was a bit slow so plan to spend a couple hours eating. Outdoor patio is the best part. The inside restaurant is dark and small with historic beautiful decorations but felt too enclosed to me (very European bar feel inside). I would definitely come again and definitely make reservations again for the patio...
This restaurant is one of our all-time favorites. We tend to celebrate most of our special occasions here including our engagement, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. The ambiance is perfect for dates and the food is always perfect. The service is amazing and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. We will always return and as soon as we leave, we cannot wait for our next visit.
We ordered the Mussels which were delicious. The broth was very rich and hard not to drink when the bread ran out. Next we had the Bone Marrow which was fine. Maybe I would have preferred a different appetizer since it too was accompanied by toasted bread. For our main course, it was the Salmon and the Lamb. The Salmon was perfectly cooked and the Lamb was really nice & tender. Last, we had the hazelnut chocolate dessert which was very tasty. All in all, a very wonderful meal.
My husband and I went to the Raymond for our anniversary. The meal was very good and it was lovely eating in the outdoor area. My only criticism is with the bar. When we sat down at the table in the bar area, no one waited on us. Finally, I had to get up and ask the bartender to send someone over. Someone eventually came over and immediately said that we were required to give our credit card to "run a tab". We explained we only wanted one drink before we sat down for dinner. He said it was "restaurant policy" to get the credit card upfront. I find this ridiculous and offensive in a restaurant of this caliber and price-point that they would not bring a check when we're finished, as is typically done. I doubt The Raymond Bar is catering to people who would run out without paying the tab and I don't appreciate that implication. Really? You can't trust us to pay our bill after we have our drink? This is not a dive bar, it's part of a high-end expensive restaurant. Left a really bad impression!
My party was pretty disappointed with the menu itself. The drinks were well made, though expensive, and the ambiance was lovely. However, the meals themselves were ill-conceived. I had the vegetable melange, which is the only vegetarian entree available on the menu. I was served a plate of lightly seasoned roasted vegetables. There was no sauce; no bed of mashed potatoes; no unifying element whatsoever! The vegetables were quite dry and under seasoned. I felt like I was eating a jumble of vegetables, but most certainly not a cohesive meal. I was VERY disappointed to pay $25 for such a low quality entree.
My boyfriend had the short rib, and while his meat was well cooked, it was very underseasoned. Only the barest edges of the meat were seasoned, otherwise the meat had no flavor. My mom had the lamb, which came with richly spiced grilled onions, a cream-based mashed potato, and a plate of brussel sprouts rendered with pepperoni. Strangely, this meal was overly seasoned and the elements combined in a manner that was disjointed and heavy.
Overall, I would not rate our experience highly. The food and drinks were over-priced. The waiter was attentive and the ambiance on the patio memorable, but overall, the food was not worth the cost. I would not recommend this restaurant to friends.
Great food. A bit on the spicy side, but great.
Service was friendly, but just a bit odd. Hostess seemed flustered when we asked not to sit outside on a 100 degree day. Then we went to wait in the bar where we sat at a communal table. Then they moved us to a table in the bar area and two minutes later asked us to move again. She seemed very confused and overwhelmed.
Nice, but just odd.
Waiter was fine. Took our order, but wasn't very attentive. But we got everything ok.
Don't order the apple fritters, they do not taste like apples.
This was my first time at the Raymond. I was looking for good food and a more intimate environment for a Sunday brunch. The service was excellent and the food was very good. In my opinion the champagne used in the mimosas was too dry but that's my personal taste. I'd be happy to come back again.
The valet was not present so we parked ourselves. The attendant ran down to our car, as we were walking to the restaurant, to chastise us for self parking. He argued with my husband for several minutes, said he was inside getting a drink and we should wait for the valet
Once inside the hostess said we would be seated outdoors. We did not request outdoor seating - which is typically what you have to do at this restaurant - and we did not want that. The option we were offered was to sit on bar stools in the bar to have brunch. We did so, finished quickly & left as it isn't comfortable for dining
Very, very disappointed! We've been there many times for family celebrations but will likely not return due to these issues
