Fun, special occasion spot! Food is good. Cocktail menu is great!
Haven't been to The Raymond in 25 years. Found it as lovely as ever. Totally enjoyed my meal by the fireplace and excellent service by my waiter.
It was our one year anniversary/turned into engagement night dinner. It was perfect for an intimate, special meal.
I hadn't been to this restaurant for several years and I learned I wasn't missing much. The server was not pleasant, she was aloof and non accommodating . The food was overpriced and the atmosphere disappointing.
nice luncheon with girlfriend.. a favorite spot of mine to have lunch with friends , its quiet has good food and atmosphere.
Restaurant is in a historic cottage with small adjoining rooms. Ambience and food is excellent; service is impeccable. Creative cocktails. Would visit again.
Met a friend for Sunday brunch and sat in the patio with a heater nearby. Had the huevos rancheros and fruit crepe - friend had the Bloody Mary. The food and drink were excellent. Recommend better and stronger coffee, especially for the price. Bathrooms are rather inconvenient. Valet parking. Want to go back for Happy Hour.
I liked that even when it was raining, they kept the outdoor seating warm. The food and service was great. A little bit on the higher price but all together, it was a great experience.
Everything about The Raymond is top drawer. The staff were fantastic!
We sat outside, it was a bit chilly, but they accommodated us with a heater. We were able to talk business, noise level was good where although are party was of 7, we were able to hear each other across the table. Great service, food was excellent!
This place is magical! We had the best server and the best time! Perfect place for a girls night.
While the entrance experience is confusing (did I enter through the front or the back door?!) I was greeted in under a minute and immediately seated near the fireplace on a cold night(alas, the room was not designed to fully enjoy the view).
I quickly got over these minor issues when our server, the friendly and attentive server Becky arrived. She was so pleasant, helpful and patient. The type of service you would expect from a very high-end restaurant.
The menu was slightly different from the one online, but only because it appears to get updated with the freshest ingredients available. We selected the “Pickle Project” for an appetizer. A bold and surprisingly delicious dish of apple slices pickled with habaneros. This project changes the main fruit/vegetable regularly.
You must have a cocktail while at the Raymond. It’s their thing. Great classics and inventive twists.
For entrees we had the duck and scallops. Both were perfectly cooked with nice accompaniments (and in adequate portions to make a meal- a rarity these days!).
Great food. Everything very tasty. A little bit pricy though.
I returned to the Raymond because of nice prior experiences. Cozy and authentic, warm ambiance. Menu is fun and interesting, and of excellent quality. Fun unusual cocktail offerings.
Excellent brunch, a surprisingly good value.
We got a great table on the adorable patio. Service was great, as was food. Very cool, historical craftsman cottage. So nice.
Always a treat. My husband and I love having dinner on a date night here. Never disappointed.
Cozy atmosphere and lovely outdoor patios. Service was professional and the food was excellent.
Amazing atmosphere. Very calm. Lamb burger is the best!!
Every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious - from the Old Fashioned to the Wood Plank Veggies to the Pork Belly to the Roasted Duck .... I would come back for just any one of those. The menu is unique and impressive. I will continue to come here and enjoy myself to something delicious.
We last went to The Raymond about 5 years ago and were impressed. Sadly, the quality of the food has slipped. It's still pleasant and inventive, but the overall presentation and quality isn't quite up to the price. We still enjoyed it and our waiter was very good. My cocktail was perfectly poured.
Service was incredibly slow. 45 min to get our entrees. I ask the waitress where the food was and she told me it takes 25 minutes for the entrees to be served. That would be fine but 35 minutes had already passed when I asked.
I had not visited this fine restaurant in several years… I was aware that there was new ownership and it has been recommended to me by a friend. I was so incredibly pleased with every aspect of this dining experience the table was ready at the reservation time the service was top-notch and the food was amazingly good.
Absolutely great experience. The food was amazing. Kudos to the Chef!!! Who knew burnt carrots could taste so good. The Sauvignon Blanc was just OK and having it only filled ⅓ of the way was a little too little. Overall, the dinner was worth every penny!!
the setting was quiet- outside on a lovely day. lunch with friends was so nice however 2 of us got sick just hours after eating nicoise salad
not good. terrible thing after such an enjoyable afternoon.
It was pleasant, but not really memorable. We went for lunch. Certain menu items were not available. Only one item was available for dessert. Just seemed half-hearted.
Raymond continues to re-invent itself, this time we encountered the trendy Asian-Fusion type cuisine. While we love the ambiance and food presentation, the food itself is not on a par with the high cost. I have been to Raymond many times over the past decade and would go again, however, it is no longer on the top of my list for high end cuisine.
Their brunch, however, continues to be a top choice if you secure a garden table.
The waitress was patient and we didn't feel rushed at all. The food was also amazing. Not my first time here & this experience reinforced why I like coming back.
A quant place to go. Drinks for what you get a little over priced. Service was great. Make sure you have the sticky potatoes.
Loved the simplicity and history of this house. We sat inside in a great booth where we were able to talk at leisure. Server was so nice and really knowledgeable about the menu. Turned out to be a special evening.
after everything I've heard did not come close to expectations. Waiter rushed us for our order, place seemed understaffed, limited lunch menu, overpriced for what was offered. A real disappointment. Needs to be rethought by owners. Not what it thinks it is.
Birthday. Great restaurant
We paid 25.00 for six tiny oysters. Another 10.00 for bread. Unable to refill a Diet Coke due to some fountain problem. My scallops (at 38.00) we’re delicious but a very tiny portion. We had advised the restaurant it was a 23rd wedding anniversary but restaurant offered nothing. My husband had one cocktail and one glass of wine. The bill was over 156.00. Not worth it at all.
One of our most favorite restaurants in LA for a great dinner for two. Unusual awesome food and ambiance!
Excellent food and service. I like the bar area, and the inside better than the front outdoor tables. Only problem was the lamb that was suppose to be medium rare was served well done. That said, they took care of the problem and added the free desert.
Nice place.... and my wife and I shall return.
The Raymond was a welcoming place with great staff and good food.
The Raymond used to be a reliable romantic dining location. No question that it would benefit from a bit of an update, especially the unadventurous menu. However, the current management appears to be trying to make a traditional location into a “hip” place to be. The atmosphere is much less formal. The music, which I would have enjoyed at a different restaurant, seemed out of place at the Raymond. The food menu has been dumbed down and was not executed to past levels(my duck breast was overdone). The wine list was very disappointing. This restaurant is no longer on my special nights list.
The food was excellent, especially the albacore appetizer.
I have met a friend who works downtown here a couple of times now for lunch. It is very convenient from downtown LA. We sat on the patio. I thought it might be cold, but they turned on the space heaters and lowered a curtain to block the wind, and we were very comfortable (in January) sitting outside. Plus, it was very quiet and comfortable outside. I have had salads both times, and they are very good. The strawberry and chicken is delicious. The service was good and the price seemed reasonable.
Great place to eat. Was surprised at how much food you received and the quality was pretty high.
