The service is in dire need of of some help here, they consistently got our orders wrong, forgot food, beverages and to even check on us. The food however was worth coming back for, we had the sea bass , short rib and a few appetizers.

The atmosphere at The Raymond is delightful. It feels like a private home, an oasis of calm. Food is very good although the brunch menu could use some more lunch-like choices. Service could not have been better.

Had an unfortunate experience being that this place came highly recommended by an avid LAist. We waited almost 20 minutes to be greeted by our server, he disappeared so we had to get up and go to the bar to order drinks and ask the bartender to please send our server over. They had only a handful of tables so we were confused.

My wife and I discovered this hidden gem on open table and loved our experience. We brought our puppy with us to dinner and enjoyed the atmosphere on one of the outdoor patios. Heat was comfortably provided. The food was excellent. We’re taking a break from alcohol and the mocktails our server suggested were great. The entire staff provided top service and provided our pup with water and treats. Can’t wait to come back here again!

Loved the food and the mood. We were seated right next to the kitchen door and hostess table so it was loud. If we eat here again I would ask for a different table.

Server seemed to be out of it. Took three requests to get cream for the table. Our first meal was about 10 minutes later than the other diners. Food was delicious and served hot although my husband returned his as it was cold. Patio was lovely and an umbrella was offered immediately. Very reasonably priced. I am very concerned however at the information given to me when I called for a reservation regarding your ability to accommodate a wheelchair. I was told there was no access. But after we arrived and I climbed the stairs, we were told there is a ramp on the other side of the entrance. This is most upsetting to someone who has difficulty If not it in ability to negotiate stairs. Please educate your staff who answer the phone. Mrs. Myer 626-278-1792

Beautiful historic building. Seating under the newer pergola was pleasant (patio warmers are a nice touch), but wish I was seated in one of the tucked-away patios. Breakfast burrito was delicious and well-portioned. Server was not very attentive (needed drink refill, but server was not checking up on us), but perhaps server didn't want to interrupt conversation. Cocktails are small/pricey, but tasty. Nice spot for brunch.

The night started off on a good foot. While we waited for our table we were offered a place to sit and enjoy a drink. Bar service was slow, but we were enjoying our date night. We transitioned to our table and service was extremely slow. We waited for our sever to put in the order. We waited about 15 min. before I asked for water and another 10 for the server to approach our table. We waited 45 min. for our meal. The waiter did not check in on us and instead focused on the surrounding larger party tables. We felt like we were forgotten about. We asked the food runner and other helpers for assistance since our waiter was nowhere to be found. He only checked in after we received our food since he knew it took a long time to receive. Even getting the check took a long time. The food was good, but we did not have the best experience. Especially it being our first time eating at the restaurant.

Was excited to try but far from impressed. The food tasted like TV dinner. The tater tots were served with entree when we stated we wanted as appetizers. They tasted like they were just air fried from the freezer. Entree took around 45 minutes to be served and the Sea Bass was terrible. Basically all skin with tiny bits of fish stuck to the skin. No fillet. I returned in exchange for the Salmon which honestly was not much better. Not bu any means worth the price and I will not go back.

The food is great, the restaurant is cute, the severs were all super kind and friendly. That being said, when we arrived we waited for probably five minutes for anyone to greet us at the host stand and that was with many different staff/ servers etc. walking by but not saying anything. It’s a small space, so that was a little awkward.

When we got seated someone brought us water pretty quickly and took our coffee order, however the coffee didn’t arrive for least 10 minutes or more, once someone realized we were still sitting there and no one had come along to take our food order either. Once someone finally did come take our food order, the food came in a normal amount of time.

While we were waiting to get seated at the front we could see that there clearly were plenty of people working that day, so maybe they’re just a little unorganized, I don’t know.

Served Brunch on a Saturday until 2:30p. Limited menu, high prices, not much attention from the wait staff. Seated in bar with no one else in there. The soundtrack was too loud for that particular room with no one in it but us. - I guess this is the new "normal" - nice restaurants tripling their prices and cutting back on just about everything else.

Good for dinner. Horrible for breakfast/brunch. Both times I've gone for brunch (slow hours at 11am) the staff still isn't ready/prepared, despite the restaurant having been open for 2 hours already. They are scrambling and appear totally disoriented. Don't know if the restaurant doesn't have prep an hou before opening, but if they don't they should. Still, I'd think 2 hours before your first customer coming in would be more than enough time to get into the groove of things. Dinner service has always been good though. Just don't recommend to come any other time, based on my personal experience.

The ambiance is great, the service was ok. The waiter was either too busy or neglectful. Never came around to see if we needed something else. Our drink was mediocre and I would have sent it back, but for the fact that the waiter never showed up.

The positive aspect of this restaurant is the decor, especially in the patio. Other than that, the service was terrible (I watched a server go back multiple times due to lipstick on cups), we needed to ask for coffee refills multiple times, and the server responded sarcastically to our questions. The food was okay...moderately priced.

Very disappointed with the food that were served for the price that we paid to celebrate New Year’s Eve dinner. Wasted our money. Never experienced with this type of food served on special occasions like this.
The table is not even covered with linens and the napkins are just regular paper. So “BAD”

Fixed menu, seating at 7:30, so we were surprised that cornbread was dried out and crumbling, as well as dessert cake, salad was not cleaned well and had sand/dirt in leaves and root vegetables. Black cod and egg not a good combo. Short rib made my husband sick throughout the whole night. The staff was GREAT! Not sure who the 20% fee went to but I hope it goes to the staff. The “new Chef “ is not a good excuse for bad food on New Years Eve at $118 per person meal.

We were at The Raymond for Christmas Eve and then again last night for New Years Eve. The fixed price for appetizer, soup, salad, entre, dessert and petit fors was very reasonable. The food was outstanding. One of the best fine dining meals we’ve had. Staff were so nice, very upbeat and pleasant, attentive, and wanted to give us the best dining experience. Very accommodating. And the chef was very gracious to eliminate the 63-degree egg in my entre which I can’t eat. My partner and I were delighted with our New Years Eve dinner. And there was just enough food to be comfortably sated. The Raymond is becoming the go-to place for us for wonderful dining experience.

Having had a delightful brunch last April, 2021, we were looking forward to a special evening for Christmas Eve. But, the dinner was actually one of our worst experiences in years. We tried to stay hopeful, but when we came in we were seated in the busy bar area right next to an open door on a cold night. It took some time before they offered to close the door, which was being used to serve outdoor diners (so it kept opening the whole evening). We ate off the bare table with paper napkins and the minimum of plates used to serve food (i.e., no plate under the bowl of soup or the glass dessert cup.) The service was very slow and unprofessional - with waitstaff rushing about initially serving everyone else and later cleaning up tables around us getting ready to close. We arrived at 7:15 pm and waited a very long to place our order on a very limited prix fixe menu that the website had not listed with the steep price of $135 given what was offered: 3 course meal with only 2 choices (soup or salad) for starter, 3 choices for main course (filet mignon, striped bass, cornish game hen), and one dessert; no bread, coffee or tea included. There was about half an hour wait before anything was served and between the 3 courses. The soup and main course came lukewarm, the dessert (a pudding) was room temperature when it should have been served chilled/cold. We were asked for last drink orders at 8:30 pm when still eating our main course (because the service was so slow) because the bar was closing. Given the simplicity of the menu offered, the final bill was a surprise where tax was levied against not only the cost of food but on a 20% gratuity that was automatically added on for serving the three of us. It was very clear to us that the staff didn't want to be there. Lastly, insult to injury was a waitress taking a seat next to us on her smartphone, waiting for us to leave.
