This hidden gem is tucked away in South Pasadena. The flavors are unique and delicious! I’ve been here twice in one month. Highly recommend the octopus appetizer and scallops entree. Yummy!

This was our second time having dinner at The Raymond, returning because our first experience was so great. This time didn’t disappoint either. We took friends and had a wonderful time because of the outstanding service, terrific drinks and food and the lovely ambience on the front patio. We enjoyed a few of the signature cocktails and a lovely glass of rose with the ahi, sushito, olive and soup starters. It would have been better for us if there was some description on the menu or by the waiter to let us know the olives and shishito would be hot spicey. Our entrees included the rib eye, Mary’s chicken and the sea bass. The first two were excellent, while the fish was just average with little flavor. We followed with pot de crème, sorbet and crème brûlée which were all rich in taste and a great way to end our meal. Highly recommend The Raymond for a special occasion or just because you want a special meal.

Monica the manager was so welcoming. She told me and my guest the history of the Raymond hotel and Raymond house. She also recommend the best cocktail ever. I will for sure dine there again , especially for the cocktail.

Normally the food and service is good. This trip was not the norm. I am leaving these comments because I have high standards and this is a favorite place. We ordered the Tempura Maitake and it was the best thing we had all night. Delicious light and yet satisfying as a starter should be. We both ordered scallops as our main. They were flavorless. My friend ordered hers with the Brussel sprouts which were overcooked and bitter. We ordered the broccolini as a side and it never came. The other thing that never arrived back at our table was the server to see how everything was. We mentioned this when our plates were cleared. It was the third time mentioning the broccolini and we did that to cancel it. The server arrived at our table and we let them know of our dissatisfaction with the food and the service. He apologized and asked if we needed the desert menu. We said yes. We asked what of the deserts had the lowest amount of sugar and then had to ask him to find out. The broccolini came and we looked at the person delivering it and said, "We wanted that with the mean and canceled it." We ordered the pear tart. The custard had split and was not creamy. The crust was good but on the whole it was meh. These words are not to say to never go to the restaurant. It's one of my favorite places. It is to say that the standards for the food have dropped and need to be reviewed especially as it was a Saturday. The menu needs to be updated for the season and most of the offerings were still autumn comfort food. It needs to be moved into spring/early summer. I would recommend this restaurant but I'd do so with caveats.

We were disappointed in our experience for this upscale brunch. The food was fantastic and the server lovely, however he was completely overwhelmed. Our server has the entire patio to himself and as a result we had to track down our own plates for appetizers, find our own cutlery, two of our dishes were wrong, etc. The server just didn't have the ability to provide the level of service that is expected for this caliber of a restaurant. This is an issue with management and staffing, not the server.

Overall nice place for dinner. The only real issue was the steak knife. It was dull and I couldn't slice the meat well or even the broccoli's. Was a slight burden. My Cutco knives at home are 100 times better. If the steak knife was serrated it might have worked better. It was more like a narrow buck knife to be honest. Well... that's a minor issue but overall I would come back.

Great experience as always! The service was excellent and the food was AMAZING. I ordered the steak frites, my daughter had the sea bass, and my son had the scallops. We shared our plates with each other and loved the flavor of each entree. Only concern was the price of the corkage fee for the bottle of wine I brought with me ($35). We’ll continue to dine at The Raymond, as it’s a great deal overall.

A real disappointment. I went here a while back and the food was excellent, but last night was surprisingly bad. All the entrees tasted like they had been reheated, and the sides were bland and unimaginative. What happened to this place?

Our waitress forgot about us. Our bill was wrong. Would have ordered more but she never checked in on us during the meal. My drink never came and I had to ask another waiter. Was there an hour and a half for just an entree. Really disappointing way to spend Mother’s Day especially since the one other time I was there my friend I had excellent service.

We were at the Raymond for Mother's Day. The restaurant was very careful to not overbook so it wasn't a mad house. The Raymond did not make special dishes for M'sD so the menu was the normal brunch menu. The food was very good and delivered hot. The drinks were quite strong! (At least the Old Fashioned was.) We had excellent, attentive service with lots of waiters, so we didn't have to wait for anything. We sat in the smaller of the two outdoor spaces so we could catch our waiter's eye easily. We really had a nice time. And on Mother's Day!

The food and the setting were lovely but the lack of enough servers had a noticeable impact on our experience….a long wait to honor our reservation and a very long wait to take our order. We are aware that other restaurants are experiencing somewhat the same, so we hope that The Raymond offers a very positive employment environment that can soon bring them back into the 5 Star category.

We have a tradition of having dinner at the Raymond after visiting the Pasadena Designer Showcase House. We were seated promptly at a great table. Our waiter Patrick was professional and friendly. He answered our questions about the new menu. The seabass and steak were well proportioned, attractive and delicious. Best of all we never felt rushed. Dinner at The Raymond is always a pleasure and. that’s why it’s a tradition!

Excellent food and very creative. Staff was distracted or going through the motions. Waitress was okay. Very loud yelling people in the room next to us. Imagine if we ate in a different part of the restaurant it would’ve been different. Food was really good though. Tops.

I found the restaurant of Yelp! as it had consistently good reviews. The restaurant was busy but everything was handled efficiently and smoothly. Great setting for drinks & dinner. Excellent cocktail repertoire with great execution - even mesquite smoke in snifter of mezcal-based drink. Food great also, but not quite up to the execution of the cocktails. Fantastic ambience in an old house setting. Parking available with valet, but very limited capacity - fills up early. Be prepared to park on street.

Food was disappointing and seems overpriced for what it is but the drinks were great. The service was kind and great to start but lagged toward the end. Love this spot and have been many times, but the food was and has been disappointing. We will be back because it is a great neighborhood spot but hope the food imrpoves.
