The Ravenous Pig: An American Gastropub Ratings and Reviews
Three friends and I gathered to celebrate a birthday, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience! The friendly, knowledgeable server was on the spot with information about the menu and kept in touch with us throughout the meal. We even enjoyed a special birthday dessert on the house. I can't say enough about how well we were treated and how great the food was...we agreed to meet at The Ravenous Pig for the next birthday celebration!
Its been over a year since we have been to Ravenous Pig. We just LOVE their new location. Don't let the name of the restaurant deceive you. I had the best piece of Grouper ever! Perfect sear on an asian pear emulsion. I think my husband was a bit envious of my selection. My 13 year old tried the Pork Porterhouse and pronounced it the best piece of port ever! We will definitely be back! The service was superb!
While our most recent visit to The Ravenous Pig was a celebration of our son and daughter-in-law's anniversary, we have been here for happy hour and "just us, we're hungry" dining, and Ravenous Pig never disappoints. The menu is varied and thoughtfully composed, and the execution is flawless. Two of us had NY strip steaks, both a perfect medium-rare, one had the redfish, and another the pappardelle, and everyone left happy. (Anyone stopping in for happy hour should not miss the wings!)
It's known as one of the best restaurants in Winter Park for good reason. Great food, great atmosphere. I got the charcuterie, which was good, if a little out of the ordinary. I just wish they had an option to get a platter with a little less meat and some cheese. The redfish was amazing, my brother and boyfriend were practically licking their plates. The Shrimp Toast was interesting, but I probably wouldn't order it again. The "bread" appetizer was absolutely amazing. The mac and cheese was good. The carrots were okay. The beer flights were fun and the drinks were delicious. Absolutely would go back!
The Ravenous Pig is a delightful restaurant with a creative menu and well prepared food. The Steak Tartar was on a blue cheesecake base. The flavors were wonderful. The shrimp and grits were tasty with a creative twist on the topping. The entrees we had included black grouper and rabbit pappardelle. Both were delicious. The new location is modern and fun. I would most highly recommend this restaurant.
I entered the Visit Orlando Facebook competition and won two Magical Dining Dinners at The Ravenous Pig. I had only dined here once before, for a business function; and, that was in the location down the street, a few months after they opened. It was a gastronomic adventure, as I impressed the table with an appetizer of Bone Marrow; and, selected an excellent wine for the table.
Magical Dining month gives patrons a chance to sample 3-course dinners from an abbreviated menu, at special pricing, during the month of September, each year. My wife and I have supported Visit Orlando, attending quite a few events, like Party at the Pointe, among others.
Our visit to The Ravenous Pig was memorable; and, we each opted for the wine pairing with each course. For appetizers, we started with Steak Tartare for me; and, Shrimp and Grits for my wife. The portions were extraordinary; the food was first-rate. For mains, I had the Parparadeli with stewed Rabbit; and, my wife had the Black Grouper. And, for dessert, Horchata Panna Cotta for me; and, Chocolate Tres Leches for my wife.
The wine selection was extraordinary! The wine steward or sommelier has an incredible pallet. We sampled wines from Spain, France, Italy; and, every pairing was perfect. Our server, Phil, was also extraordinary, explaining menu items and wines, as necessary. He was enthusiastic; but, not overly "chummy" or aloof; just perfect.
We took advantage of free, valet parking. And, we tipped both the valet and our server lavishly, as we felt like we won the lottery!
The Ravenous Pig is a nice restaurant, however, we did have an issue with staff. When we asked for Magical Dining menu, our server's attitude changed. If the restaurant's staff is going to cop an attitude about Magical Dining, the restaurant shouldn't participate.
Superb! An awesome find in Winter Park. Worthy of being in Manhattan and Brooklyn. We went two nights in a row to celebrate my Mother's 91st birthday (per her suggestion). And they made it special both times. My Mother, the scallops fan, said the diver scallops were "the best I have ever had in all my years". It was a great dining experience all around.
First timers celebrating my Mother's 91st birthday. We are all visitors from NYC. What a gem! The best restaurant find here in the 20+ years we have been coming to visit my Mom.
The space is very well thought thru and designed, the ambiance is festive, the staff super nice and courteous. The food was absolutely fantastic, a wide array that was super well done.
We will come back many times...and will recommend Ravenous Pig to others...
My boyfriend and I were looking forward to our reservation all of last week to have dinner here Saturday evening. We were not satisfied with our server. He wasn't personable at all, forgot to give us silverware, and was overall fairly rude. We ordered cocktails and I didn't like one. I only took one sip and asked for a different drink instead. I still found that cocktail on the bill. The server informed me that the bartender said they should keep it on the bill, but the manager said otherwise. He went to go fix it but did not apologize for the mistake. I will pay for excellent food, but when service is poor, it is not worth it.
Best beer in the South, several varieties crafted on site. Amazing food made mostly from local ingredients by an excellent chef. Modest portions, which is good if you're having more than one beer. The bar prefers not to substitute anything in the brewmaster's beer flight, but our waiter was able to get them to switch out one for me for my birthday. The atmosphere is quirky and eclectic, sort of neo-industrial.
Since the first time we ate at The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park it was our favorite restaurant. Their new location, where Cask & Larder used to reside, allows for more spacious dining. The bar area overlooks both outside seating as well as the cask room where the craft beers and spirits are brewed. We enjoyed the Pig Roast (held the first Saturday of each month) and were greeted by the giant grill in the parking lot with a full pig on it! The smell was enticing and the food even better than expected. At $17 a plate and $5 draughts there was more than enough food. Add on the best Truffle Fries in the world for a mere $3 and you are eating like royalty! My 3-year-old daughter could not get enough of the juicy pulled pork as well as the delectable ribs. Don't think twice --- go to this restaurant, you won't regret it!
We went for happy hour and the value was well worth it. I didn't try any main menu items, that weren't in the happy hour menu, but the chicken sandwich was excellent, as was the meat board. The server Stephen was excellent and really attentive.
Drinks were good and the atmosphere was relaxed. We enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back!
Although I do not eat pork I wanted to try this restaurant out and I must say it was to my liking. I tried sweetbread for the first time and I really enjoyed it even though I didn't even know what it was so the server did not tell me until after I took a couple of bites. I ordered the steak and truffle frites and I truly enjoyed it the steak was so tender and season so well that I never even bothered to use any A1 sauce which was not needed at all. I absolutely loved the pigtails the espresso sauce was so good that I took some home with me to put on top of some vanilla ice cream 😁
Everything was "ok." Server seemed rather unenthusiastic, but was attentive and knowledgeable enough. He never smiled and wasn't warm and welcoming, which I guess is something I find important on a birthday dinner. Food was tasty though. Be sure to ask about the price of the daily special if you are concerned at all with sticker shock. It was well over the price of their most expensive entree, which is pretty ridiculous for a "gastro-pub." The burger is delish and they have updated and expanded the portions on their charcuterie board, so it seemed more of a value than the last time I ate here.
Very accommodating help! Switched us to a quieter area so we could talk. Another waiter turned down the music on his own, turned to us and said he thought it was a bit loud. Our waiter was knowledgeable, talked and explained things just the right amount. When we mentioned it was our anniversary, waiter brought dessert for free and staff had written "Happy Anniversary " on plate with dessert in icing. Food was delicious! Pleasant experience! Great staff! Thanks!
