Loved the place and the atmosphere- the food was outstanding, all three items were great. Very reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back. Our server, Ryan, was outstanding and very helpful in his recommendations
Best place to eat in Decatur but it’s loud and takes forever to get your food. Also, beware the brussel sprouts have been under cooked on more than one occasion. I really like that they have a hard seltzer on tap!
Great food, great service, never disappoints
As usual the food and service were fantastic. Great choices on the food and beverage menus. We’ve eaten here many times and have always been very happy.
Fish was excellent. The steak was flavorless, good piece of meat prepared incorrectly. Salads were wonderful. Ice cream was an awesome treat.
Love this place. Great atmosphere and service. We like how they change the menu regularly. The selection is great and the food never disappoints. The portions will leave you satisfied and the individual tastes of the dishes are wonderful.
The quality of food was surprisingly bad. For the price, it was disappointing. My husbands sandwich was dry and cold. My moms prime rib had tons of gristle and actually looked blackened on both sides. I haven’t eaten there in a while so I’m hoping they were just having an off night in the kitchen.
Excellent food and service! We will be back!
Great dinner. Food was fantastic. Service was great. We will definitely be back.
Usually The RailYard is great. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of those times, and it just so happened we took a couple who recently relocated to this area. The husband purposely skipped lunch so he could enjoy the giant slab of meat that is the New York Strip. My wife ordered the Pontchartrain after I told her it is a consistent favorite among our clients when we take them out to eat. The New York strip that he and I both ordered were small. Mine was way overcooked and had to be sent back. The NY Strip they brought back to me was true to form and just as I had promised my friend it would be. Not consistent at all. The Pontchartrain included a large filet of grouper, but didn't have much flavor.
I guess the kitchen had a bad night, but it's worth noting the lack of consistency we encounter from time to time. I left saying, "I should have taken you all to Grill 29. The flavors aren't always as great, but it is always consistently very good."
Our server was amazing! He attended to our every need sometimes before we even had to ask. Food was delicious! All staff were very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making our evening a good one.
An amazing experience as always. Delicious food and friendly staff. My favorite restaurant
Our food was excellent and service was good once our orders were taken. However, it took almost an hour before our order was taken. The food came quickly and the waitress was very attentive.
Very pleasant and server was attentive to our needs.
Food was good. Service was fantastic. One suggestion would be to make sure things marked gluten free are truly gluten free. The crab cheesecake was great. However I ordered it because it was gluten free due to dietary restrictions and it was served with wheat crackers.
This place is awesome!
Service was excellent, atmosphere is cool. The food was very good but the ponchartrain was a little dry. It was topping an amazing grouper filet. Others at our table had the salmon and scallops. They didn’t care for the Chile lime sauce much, but the quality and prep of the seafood was nice. Will definitely be back, especially when we want great food and quality service. Great place to take visitors.
Wonderful hidden little restaurant in downtown Decatur. The service and food was excellent. They had a good variety of food choices and worked for the whole family. The atmosphere was cozy and enjoyable. We will definitely go back.
First time here. All good though it was somewhat hard to talk because it was very noisy.
This was one of the worst experiences that I have had at a restaurant. We had 6:45 reservations and arrived on time. We were seated immediately but everything went wrong after that. WE chose not to order an appetizer but ordered our meals instead. At 8:00 p.m. we still had not received our meals. At 7:30, we questioned the server about the length of time. He stated that they had a big party of 40 and another party of 20 and were running a bit late. My husband asked to speak with the manager. We told the manager about the wait. She again restated the fact that they had two big parties and a small kitchen. She told us that she would check on our meal and return to provide us an update. We waited 30 minutes and she never returned to our table. She passed by our table twice and even tended to the table infant of us twice but never even looked in our direction. We finally called the server and asked for our check. He stated that there would be no charge. He offered to box the food as take out for us, but even after waiting for ten minutes, he did not return. We were extremely disappointed and will never eat there again.
We've been to Railyard multiple times, both for date nights and family lunches and the service is great and staff is friendly. The food is always delicious and fresh tasting.
Roasted carrots were practically raw
Pork chops were ok, expected much better
Supposed to get green beans and got asparagus without any explanation
Fingerling potatoes? I got 2.
Toffee crack pie was very good.
Quaint but very disappointed in the food.
Very good place to eat. Great value for the price.
Atmosphere was pleasant except for the noise. The service was polite and drinks refilled as needed. Good was delayed and was not hot, possibly because one order was prepared before the other and got cold waiting. Slick web site and menu but restaurant failed to deliver we left a little disappointed and very over charged for the meals.
Our visit was disappointing. We had dined at the Railyard over 30 times in the past 2+ years and this was the worse experience. It appears they have serious issues in the kitchen and with service. We were a party of 9 and waited for over 45 minutes to get the ordered food. Some (burgers) sat on the kitchen service counter so long the food was cold when served. The server never checked back to follow-up on "how's the food"?
After the checks were delivered, a diner asked to speak with a manager. A young lady appeared and listened to the feedback (cold food, no follow-up by server, mandatory 20% tip - a first), but offered little empathy.
This is disturbing on a number of fronts - reputation in dining community, execution of diverse menu, lack of trained servers, and lack of management/owner leadership.
Our appetizer was excellent, however my main dish was lukewarm.
This was my first time to eat at the Railyard and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere set the mood for a lovely evening coupled with excellent food and friendly staff. I will definitely be back!
We waited to be seated 20 minutes in spite of having reservations. Then waited almost 2 hours for food. The food was perfect and I will be going back at a less busy time. The staff seems overwhelmed, they were all trying very hard and were all polite. There was two or three very large parties on that Thursday night. I will definitely be going back because the food is great.
The service was really slow and the food temperature was less than acceptable considering how long it took to be served.
Great place for a date, several options, including seasonal cocktails. Highly recommend reservations on the weekends - sometimes slower at lunch during the week.
Don't let looks fool you. The food is outstanding. The cook really knows how to fix both meat and seafood. There are two entrances. The food is as good as it gets! One has many stairs, but the one that is not on main street has two. The noise level can be almost to much depending on loud customers near your table. Intimate conversation is going to be difficult. But, try this place! You'll be glad you did.
We love the atmosphere! Our waiter was amazing and food was excellent. One of our favorite places to go in Decatur.
Wonderful food & drinks from start to finish. This is the second year in a row we make a point of stopping here on our return trip from Gulf Shores, AL to Paducah, KY. The one drawback is the NOISE level. We suggest the owner seriously looking into sound dampening material for ceiling, walls or flooring. This would make the experience more enjoyable.
Great food!!! Always enjoy drink specials and the variety of their menu.
Great food and service!! We had the pork chop and the serving size was huge!
Table of 7 with a full house, reservation was honored right on time. Prompt, efficient service. Kitchen a bit slow, but acceptable given the full house on a Friday night. Draft over priced under poured, but good variety.
Filet, 4.5/5; grouper 5/5; steak sandwich 4/5 (need more onions and shrooms; scallops 5/5; rubber chicken 3/5; pot pie 4/5; pad Thai 3.5/5
Great variety on menu. Seafood seams to be consistently excellent.
Loved the food and atmosphere. It was a little noisy, hard to hear when trying to talk to folks at our table.
Awesome experience as always
Service was great. The restaurant is extremely loud but it wasn’t a huge deal. The menu had a lot of options but our food was good.it was exceptional but it was good.
