Great food, great service, great decor and vibe
Our waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful. It was an anniversary and they made our experience joyful. Everything we ordered was tasteful and they even brought us a free dessert 😊
Eggs Benedict were great, the french toast was great, the omelets were great, just don't get the chicken and waffles.
Great service. Food was delish. Went to Bo Peep afterwards.
I have mixed feelings about The Rag Trader. On one hand, the staff was really sweet, attentive, and accommodating, but the issues with the food (which is why you're there!) were troublesome.
Great service. Always considerate of time constraints.
Fun Manhattan restaurant. A bit loud but that is what you are there for the action. Fun decor. Staff were attentive. Food was good.
We really wanted to love this restaurant. The decor is cozy and interesting. The menu was good, and I ordered the soup of the day (roasted squash) and an artichoke olive pizza. My husband got a Caesar Salad. The soup was quite good, the pizza was ok and the Caesar salad was beyond boring (and overpriced terribly). The service was just okay. No black pepper offered for the salad and all the food came out at one time. Total experience was just average
great , perfect spot lunch or dinner , make sure you try the brussel sproats and grilled cheese
The ambiance is great: subdued lighting and low noise levels. The food was very good and well priced. The service was prompt and courteous but the server seemed a little aloof. Other than that, my spouse and I agreed that overall: 7.5/10.
Great spot for drinks or a quick meal close to msg
The atmosphere is really nice - decorated with artifacts from the garment district. Went there for brunch. Perfectly fine- nothing special and pricey. $9 for four very thin slices of Challah bread with some clotted cream and jam. $16 for a pretty basic omelet.
The manager did stop by but the server was not friendly at all. They seemed rushed to clear our plates before we were finished even though there were only a few other customers.
Posto carino, personale gentile e sorridente. Cibo non all'altezza. Cocktail servito nel bicchiere sbagliato, e non indimenticabile. Prezzi sopra la media dei locali della stessa fascia nella medesima zona.
Christine was amazing at the upstairs bar and the food and drinks were very good!
It has a wonderful ambience and we loved the photos of the old garment center days.
I can’t write enough great things about this place! Literally every part of the experience was top notch. They are customer service at its best!!!
Loved the look and feel of the place. Excellent service. I had a steak salad and the steak was really disappointing. Ordered medium well and got barely medium and it was incredibly tough. Having said that, everyone else in my party loved their meal.
As someone that travels frequently, I normally am hesitant to write a review. That being said, I have not even left the establishment and I’m sitting here typing praises on the amazing experience that I just had... or should I say, “Am having,” an AMAZING TIME!
I literally dropped my bags at the hotel, asked for a fun, local, and NOT “touristy” place… Here I am!
One word... or shouldn’t I say, “Name,” ... “ANISSA!”
Anissa created an intimate, welcoming, and kind environment. I appreciate that she got to know me as a client, understood my personality, and then recommended cocktails based on that. More importantly, I watched her create connections with every other patron, always ensuring that they felt taken care of.
I would recommend “The Rag Trader” to anyone, and feel confident that you will have the BEST time!
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary with friends
2nd visit to the Rag Trader and this time was better than the first (which was excellent as well). Very nice ambiance, great service, killer cocktails and really good food. Try the 3-Piece Suit as a tasty alternative to an Old Fashioned, and the El Guapo is an outstanding spicy margarita. The Bo Peep downstairs is also a fantastic spot for craft cocktails and quiet conversation. Great experience in NYC!
What a delightful find in a part of the city not overly populated with great places. Decor was charming. Food was great. I had a Salmon topped salad and they cooked my salmon to my request—medium rare. To top it all off, we had the best waitress who gave us some real tips on what to order. Will be back!
The host staff was not very accommodating or friendly. Once we made it past them the rest of the experience was good. The food was tasty and affordable. The portions were just right. For a salad with added protein you get full piece of chicken or steak, not just a few strips. The waitress was friendly. It was really busy as Billy Joel was at MSG that evening. Great spot for work dinners or meeting friends if you need to stay in midtown.
Second time there. Food was excellent! Ambience was fun! Service was great!
We were seated right away. Our server Ashley was very friendly and attentive. We ordered Mac and Cheese to share- it was delicious!
We also had the cheeseburger.
We enjoyed our meal.
Whiskey lovers rejoice! Rag Trader is a place to be and their selection is on point. Will be back for Bo Peep and food! Staff is also professional and friendly.
We visited NYC for the weekend and ate at the Rag Trader on a Sunday evening with my family. It wasn't particularly busy and we were seated immediately at our reservation time. The staff was very attentive and the food was served quickly, exactly as we had ordered. Everyone found something they liked on the menu and we really enjoyed our dinner.
Went for my GF birthday with three of our best friends. Got a free Glass of champagne & could sit where we wanted. Cocktails & food were simply amazing. Felt a bit pushed to order more drinks, but as Europeans, we have this feeling almost everywhere in the US. The burlesque show was less exciting than I expected, but it added a certain festivité ambiance. Probably can get better value for money if you look well, or dont care about location but overall I would definitely go back anytime
I was pleasantly surprised as I selected this restaurant simply based upon the menu selection. Service was very good. We had the soup of the day which was quite tasty. I also appreciated that although a number of people were there to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, we were seated in the back section of the restaurant along with others who simply wanted to have a quiet conversation.
Never disappointed in the food or service. Great spot any time of day
Service was good. Loved the decor
Great combination of salads, small plates and great sandwiches!
I don’t know if I would definitely come here again for brunch - the food and drinks were all very good but I wasn’t super impressed with the service. Since it’s bottomless, i was expecting a bit more speed for the drinks, and there were struggles with accuracy as well. Overall it was fine and the space is great, just don’t know if I would come for bottomless brunch again.
I was quite late and they were still accommodating and got me a seat on a Saturday night. Had the salmon poke, brussel sprouts and they were delicious. Old fashioned was pretty good but I doubt the bar tender even put a full shot of bourbon since it was a tiny serving and tasted like syrup. Piano bar downstairs was fascinating and we had a surprise burlesque show!
Quite good experience. Waiters are a bit annoying trying to take your dishes out when they think you've finished, but well, that's the way it is everywhere in the US (I'm a foreigner and I can't get used to that!)
Der Bürger ist nur Mittelmaß. Schade
Great food and environment
I’ve been to the rag trader many times before but this time was awful! I always get the gem salad with salmon, the salmon piece was so small, and the salad used to be served in a bowl with a decent serving size and this time it was all on a plate and barely any salad! Such a disappointment especially for the price. Don’t know if I will be back after that...
It was our 20th Anniversary!! Sean the waiter treated us perfect and brought us a complimentary glass of champagne to toast! The food was amazing! What a great anniversary at a wonderful place! Food, atmosphere, staff and drinks were the best! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all of my friends!!!
Order the Cauliflower starter - it is so delicious!!
Great place - really nice service. We loved our server Nick. He was everything a server should be - funny, attentive and engaged! My husband and I met a dear friend we don't see often enough for dinner and we had a fantastic time. We will definitely go back!
