Great atmosphere. Average service. Good food.
Food and drinks very good, service was excellent and of course convenient to Penn. Only negative was it’s very noisy so if you want to have a conversation without saying, what did you say, ask to sit in the back.
Met with friends coming from Penn Station - perfect local ! Food & ambience excellent! Not rushed ... owner made us feel welcome with stopping by the table! Started a list of places I will definitely return to!!
The only issue I had was the ridiculously small portions of our entree’s. I had the Salmon Poke and it was served in a small bowl - for $19 it was pretty pathetic. Too bad because the ambience and service were very good.
Great food, delicious cocktails and a wonderful service!
Our hotel sent us to this restaurant telling us about its excellent food and reputation, and providing a certificate for a free dessert with 2 entrees. We made a reservation on OT indicating it was a birthday celebration. Honestly, didn't live up to the reputation. The food was good. That's it. Service was sporadic ... I don't think the same person ever came to our table twice. It is noisy and crowded. So noisy it's difficult to have a conversation. They forgot about the birthday. Nothing offered. And when we showed the card about the dessert, the server didn't know what it was. To be fair they brought us one complementary dessert. That really wasn't the issue tho. Just be prepared for good food served in a noisy, crowded environment with only fair service. If that's not what you are looking for, there are so many other restaurants in the area.
Was a cool brunch spot..the bowls of drinks was very good also..easy to get to!
Service was excellent. My friend got there early to get a drink with another friend and the host let us postpone sitting down until the other friend finished her drink. Food and drinks truly excellent as always.
Cozy and welcoming venue. Nicely varied menu. Reasonably priced. All enjoyed our meal. Will definitely visit again.
Went for brunch on recent Sunday and really enjoyed! Central mid-town location.
Our waiter was fantastic! The bottomless mimosas were great and the food was really good - number of choices for brunch menu! Décor and ambiance was awesome. Definitely would recommend and cant wait to return in December!
We had brunch here for my daughter’s 21st birthday. The bottomless boozy brunch was awesome! The sangria punch was our favorite. We ate the eggs Benedict, English breakfast and banana bread and everyone loved their meals! Our server Ryan was so nice an a good sport considering we were a rowdy bunch!
Awesome food and location. Very creatively decorated location with great tasting food options.great after work destination
Fun but extremely noisy. Couldn’t hear what the waitress was saying. Food was decent. Best location for dinner was in the Volkswagen! Not sure what you need to do to arrange it but it looked quieter and fun.
Our second visit this month and it did not disappoint. We had the same two excellent servers we had the first time. The vegan burger and drunken doughnuts are amazing. We went early before the theater. The noise level pucks up during happy hour.
Excellent, friendly service. Delicious mussels, sea scallops & tuna! Very cute inside with fun music and decor. Downstairs bar lively. Will return!
Second time there and just as great. Food, delicious, drinks fabulous, and amazing dessert! And, they put us in a section which is less noisy for our birthday, reunion celebration!
Had a great meal and drinks. Cool atmosphere with great vegetarian options.
Good food; extraordinarily loud.
It is one of the better places in that area, but the music was so loud you couldn’t hear across the table. We were seated upstairs, which was better for the noise, but still so hard to hear. Because the music was so loud, people had to almost scream and crated this extremely loud environment. I would recommend lowering the music since it’s not a club.
The drinks were good. Food was ok. I would recommend getting the pizza.
After a hectic day in the City, we stopped for cocktails and a bite to eat. We were greeted warmly at the door and seated at a high top table in the bar area. The restaurant has an awesome vibe, high ceilings with a warm atmosphere Our waiter, Lou, greeted us with a smile together with a bubbly personality. He immediately took our cocktail order. Undecided just how hungry we were, we ordered and shared the Cesar salad which was very good perfect portion of salad dressing. My husband ordered the steak and fries, I ordered a margarita pizza with the homemade sausage. We shared all the dishes. The steak was cooked to perfection, nice char on outside with juicy medium rare on the inside. The pizza was delicious. We had a second round of drinks. Lou brought smiles to our faces making our dinner fun which we sorely needed. The Manager stopped by during our meal to check on our meals. We gave him high praise for the food and service.
We brought a second pizza home to our son. This was our first visit and will definitely go back. Highly recommend.
Food was great ... and overall can have conversation with colleagues. Everyone enjoyed!!
Killer vibe...fantastic food and even better service
Since it was a business meal, I asked for a more quiet and reserved space, which they promptly provided. The service was also great! Food was good and they have a good selection of draft beers.
Our server was great!
Stumbled upon this restaurant while researching places on OpenTable. Staff was friendly and helpful, tables are a little close together and noise level was high, but sometimes, you want that! Cocktails are creative and fun. The Chicken Liver Mousse is artistically presented in a stemless wine glass topped with Fig jam and bacon and a side of grilled bread (but we just spooned it out like a fabulous savory pudding), devine! We also enjoyed the Mini Ceviche Tacos; crunchy, fresh and just the right amount of spice. The Hanger Steak was charred on the outside and a perfect medium rare with lots of great flavor from the Chermoula - cumin, coriander cilantro and other spices play a significant role in spicing up the steak and the frites! Will be back to try the Shishito Peppers, Cauliflower Friters and Octopus, but it will be hard to beat the mousse!
Return visit to the Rag Trader, which offers convenience to our hotel and other areas in Midtown. Salad seems fresh and service was very good.
Food was excellent, imaginative takes on classics like yuzu hollandaise or pickled jalapeno on grilled cheese. For those avocado toast lovers, the serving was very generous! Lovely interior and good music rounded out the experience.
My crispy skin salmon with black rice was delicious! The caesar salad had too much of an anchovy taste for my liking.
The food and service were excellent. But being seated near the entrance it was very crowded, noisy and drafty with customers frequently coming in and out.
First time here, great venue, very unique, awesome vibe, fabulous decor, amazing food and drinks and there's a piano bar downstairs! We will be back for sure!
We went early because we had play tickets at 7. The service was great and the food was delicious! I ordered the Vegan burger (not a vegan) because of reviews I read about how good it was. And they were right. It was totally delicious. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
This is a one of those restaurants we hit every time we're in NYC. It's fun, the food is fantastic and it has the best cocktails. We love to go to Bo Peep when we can too--the piano bar downstairs. We order a few dishes and share and end with the drunken donuts. Our waiter Cecil was fantastic.
Amazing food and great ambiance. Will be coming back again!
Best cocktail I’ve ever had, wonderful ribs for an appetizer, bass for
I've now been to The Rag Trader twice. The first time was for brunch on Father's Day, which was fantastic. The French toast was extremely tasty and the value was excellent. It was not as crowded as when I went for dinner, but there still was a lively vibe. The decor was fun.
I went with some friends the other night and four of us had the vegan burger. None of us are vegan, but we all raved about how good it was. The cocktails also were great -- between the five of us, we enjoyed the Stifler's Mom, Rose Sangria, Three Piece Suit, and the Sunset Driver. All highly recommended.
The ambiance is very pleasant, though admittedly it can get a bit loud -- but such is life in a full popular restaurant. The staff was attentive and regularly checked in on us. Seriously, no complaints. I'll definitely be coming back.
Ambiance was perfect for a cozy date night. The wine and pizzas were light and delicious. Easy to get to location, friendly staff. Had dinner at Rag Trader and drinks at BoPeep. A little pricey but nothing unexpected for manhattan. We will definitely be returning
Great place to have dinner or just a drink at the bar
Very cool ambiance, and the bottomless brunch for $25 is a steal for NYC! Our waiter was very attentive and was feeding us bottles of champagne (wahooo!). Definitely got our money's worth. I will definitely coming here again for brunch.
We went for brunch because it was convenient to Penn Station and there was no wait. I'm not sure I would go back for brunch, as the food was good, but not great and they lacked some basic things like cream for coffee. The atmosphere was nice, and they are probably better for lunch/dinner/drinks.
I would recommend for the ambiance and menu choices. However we did not have good service. Our waiter did not come back to our table once our food was served. We were waiting to order more drinks, food and he never returned. We wanted to order more drinks and food, but he never returned to our table. We had to find him to pay the bill!
