Good food for brunch. Portions a bit small but food was delicious.
Nice atmosphere, tasty menu- the chicken liver mouse was delicious as was my hanger steak pizza. Conor was our server and he was excellent! I wish we had tried the lounge downstairs. We’d recommend this place.
Great experience. Nice atmosphere and food very good!
We had a 4:15 reservation with kids after a long day of running around the city. It was perfect. Great ambiance, wonderful place to relax for a while with a few drinks, and pizza for the kids. Very happy!
It’s a great restaurant — both visually and location. Food was good, too. The service staff was very friendly but basically non-existent. Stood at an almost empty (thougncool) bar for over 15 mins and wa never approached. Then we sat for brunch and had to basically beg to get served. Glass of wine took 10 mins @ and again the trstsurrny was not crazy busy. Then the check came and it was completely wrong.
Would love to go back as soon as they figure this out.
I have been to the Ragtrader many times and recommend this place to others, before but on this occasion I was left disappointed. I usually order the ribs & strip steak and it is usually cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the ribs were very tough & the steak was cooked Medium Well, not Medium Rare as asked for.
A very good vibe and very good food. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, despite having a reservation. Once at the table, it took another 15 minutes for the waiter to make his first visit. Good potential, poorly managed.
We had moderate expectations and ended up being wow'ed by the service, the ambience in the hat check room, and the attentive service by management and our waiter. There are so many options in NYC and this was relatively close to our hotel, so it was walkable, but I thought maybe a cab ride to a more well-known destination might be the better choice. It wouldn't have been. I am so happy we kept our reservation here. Cheese choices are awesome. We had the Maggies Round and the waiter, looking at our plates, thinking the quantity was insufficient, had another chunk brought to us with some incredible grilled bread and fig jam. We had great salads - Caesar and Gem Lettuce and entrees were Rib Eye and Home-Made Sausage pizza. Both were really good and perfectly prepared. We were un-rushed, able to enjoy the evening, and incredibly grateful for the service, great food, and personal attention. Highly recommend.
My sisters and I share a NYC weekend every December. We dined at Rah Trader and it was fabulous. The Brussels sprouts were delicious and the salad perfect. Our waiter was attentive and made suggestions as to what we might enjoy. A totally perfect dining opportunity!
What a wonderful experience!
Rag Trader is one of my FAVORITE restaurants in Manhattan. I take all of my friends there and we always have a wonderful experience. The food and drinks are outstanding and the service is extraordinary.
Really good food, wonderful flavor profiles!! My husband and I had the ribs, sea scallops, roasted beets and Brussel sprouts along with rose sangria and the ragtrader cocktails. All just excellent
This restaurant has a great cocktail menu
Dint get the bronzino but do try the Brussels sprouts great cocktails and service
Some people in my party were Vegan and Vegetarian and this place was perfect. The food was amazing and as well as the atmosphere.
Upon entering The Rag Trader, you can't help but be mesmerized by the ambiance, the soft seating, and the dynamic bar. We were greeted promptly and sat right away; our drink and food order was taken in a timely manner but then it went downhill rapidly.
Our waiter's shift ended midway through service and our new waitress never introduced herself as such. She came over and asked if we were ok but ignored the fact that our drink glasses and water glasses were empty. About 20 minutes later she came back and asked if we wanted anything else to which we said, "are you our waitress now?" She replied that she was and then walked away. We called her back over and asked for refills on our water and for our check. It took her almost 15 minutes to get back to us with both without an apology but rather a sly comment, I wish I was hungover right now. What does that even mean?! Very disappointing and quite honestly, a turnoff.
The food was ok--not terrible, not amazing. We started with the beef tartare and salmon poke. Both were tasty and appropriate sized for sharing between two individuals. For our main course, we shared the mac n' cheese and the baby back ribs. The mac n' cheese was very good but was undersalted, especially the noodles. The ribs, however, were completely flavorless. Honestly, we could not decipher any elements of the sauce but we could taste the microgreens. The rib meat was tender and they were trimmed nicely, but the lack of flavor took away from enjoying them fully.
We would go back again for drinks but would probably pass on eating there again.
The food is delicious but order a lot! The dishes are small. We had the best time!
This was our favorite thing we did in NYC. The wait staff serenaded while serving us cocktails. Awesome vibe and stellar service. 😍
The noise level was louder than any NYC restaurant we' ve been to. Terribly difficult to speak to each other without shocking. Food was average. We will not return.
Great as always. Sean made the night memorable with his quick wit and charm. :-)
Everything from the ambience to the server to the cocktails to the food was exceptional!
Great neighborhood find. Food is good. The portions right. Appetizers are good. In fact we could have made a meal of the appetizers alone they were good enough. (Have the steak tartare....very good). Wine menu is nice. Variety. Service was a bit slow. Maybe would have been better on main floor than upstairs. Like we were forgotten at times. Otherwise it is good.
I went to The Rag Trader with all of my children to celebrate my youngest son's birthday. The service was stellar. The drinks were great and the food was absolutely delicious. My children all live in NYC for years and were raving about the food here. I would highly recommend it. It's a very lively atmosphere so I would not recommend it for a quiet dinner out.
I live on Bermuda
While visiting NYC. BORN AND RAISED ON NYC. My friend recommend it
Food was great
Nice place to gather with friends close to Penn Station in Midtown. Nice vibe inside with very friendly staff. Food was good as were the drinks. I had a cauliflower steak which was a fun change from the normal with a great sauce. Menu was varied with good snacks and appetizers and some good looking entrees.
We went here for a birthday celebration, and we had an amazing experience! The server knew we were celebrating birthdays (thank you, Open Table!) and greeted us with glasses of champagne (for all 7 of us). This superior service lasted through the entire meal. For cocktails, my friend and I had the Rag Trader, which was delicious! The food was excellent and there was a good variety of menu items - we had 3 vegetarians, and they all found plenty to eat. I got a ribeye, which was excellent and too big to finish. The gem salad was also very good. A big part of the draw is the atmosphere... the vintage hat boxes and department store display cases...I only wish I'd known to request a table in the hat box room, it looked so cozy. Rag Trader is both upscale and casual at the same time, so you feel comfortable no matter what. I had done a lot of research on restaurants in NY, and had trouble finding a restaurant that had availability, could accommodate 7 people, had a good menu for carnivores and herbivores, and would make our celebration special. I am so glad we found Rag Trader, it could not have been better.
We had Brunch/Lunch here yesterday before our Broadway show, Aladdin. As usual, they killed it! The Unlimited drinks were awesome and the server was super friendly and great at his job. We talked a lot between ordering cocktails and our food. I had the pizza, and the others had a variety of food: Cheeseburgers, Sliders, etc. The fries that came with the Cheeseburger was ridiculous ad well as the spicy mayo (on the side). I dipped my daughter;'s fries int he mayo and was amazed.
The Rag Trader continues to provide great, food and service at a fair NYC price. We will be back the next time we come to NYC!
By the way, they offer "Tipsy" ice cream. Although I did not have room in my stomach again, one of these times, I will save room for their ice cream which looks and sounds amazing!
So dark you couldn’t see what you were eating. Very limited menu, but it was Thanksgiving so understood but not good value for the price
Really nice decoration and ambiente at this place! Service overly polite but not stiff. We had a great, delicious dinner. I definetly can recommend it!
My daughter and I were in New York City for Thanksgiving and made a reservation to have dinner here. They were serving a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, cranberry sauce and rolls. I had indicated that I was gluten-free while making a reservation and they spoke to me about it immediately upon arriving. My meal was prepared gluten-free and my daughter had the regular. The meal was absolutely fantastic! Everything was amazingly delicious and we both enjoyed it so much! Austin our server was fantastic. It really made our holiday special.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner as we were in from out of town. For over $200 for adults and children, you would expect food worthy of the price. The turkey was more like a thin piece of jerky, I couldn’t even cut it let alone chew it. Roasted root vegetables equated to one type of potatoe that were flavorless and just a tiny two bite. The apple sausage stuffing was actually good but I received the burnt corner of the pan. Green beans and mashed potatoes were good. Husband had the prime rib that was originally advertised as a 24oz pice for a $15 up charge but day of the meal was reduced to 18oz for the same up charge. The prime rib was good but the au jus was basically a thick jelly. The mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were mixed together. The apple crumble was at first good but we all had a chemical/oil flavor coming off the cast iron pan.
I don’t recommend at all. The waitstaff was pleasant but not interested in fixing anything
Excellent for thanksgiving- good value and amazing food! Kids portions were the same as adults! Recommend requesting the vw bus for family dining fun. Overall great drinks food and service
4 of us went for dinner in a super busy night and they were still very attentive.
Great overall Thanksgiving Dinner Experience. And a lovely Irish waiter. Highly Recommend
This is my 2nd time here in 2 weeks which is rare for me in a. city with is many restaurants. The service was fantastic and the food catered to everyone's dietary needs including my fiancee who's vegan. Thank you for a great experience.
Really excellent all around
Excellent service, would highly recommend, down stairs at Bo Peeps even better !!
