Had a great meal and drinks. Cool atmosphere with great vegetarian options.
It is one of the better places in that area, but the music was so loud you couldn’t hear across the table. We were seated upstairs, which was better for the noise, but still so hard to hear. Because the music was so loud, people had to almost scream and crated this extremely loud environment. I would recommend lowering the music since it’s not a club.
The drinks were good. Food was ok. I would recommend getting the pizza.
Food was great ... and overall can have conversation with colleagues. Everyone enjoyed!!
Killer vibe...fantastic food and even better service
Since it was a business meal, I asked for a more quiet and reserved space, which they promptly provided. The service was also great! Food was good and they have a good selection of draft beers.
Our server was great!
Stumbled upon this restaurant while researching places on OpenTable. Staff was friendly and helpful, tables are a little close together and noise level was high, but sometimes, you want that! Cocktails are creative and fun. The Chicken Liver Mousse is artistically presented in a stemless wine glass topped with Fig jam and bacon and a side of grilled bread (but we just spooned it out like a fabulous savory pudding), devine! We also enjoyed the Mini Ceviche Tacos; crunchy, fresh and just the right amount of spice. The Hanger Steak was charred on the outside and a perfect medium rare with lots of great flavor from the Chermoula - cumin, coriander cilantro and other spices play a significant role in spicing up the steak and the frites! Will be back to try the Shishito Peppers, Cauliflower Friters and Octopus, but it will be hard to beat the mousse!
Return visit to the Rag Trader, which offers convenience to our hotel and other areas in Midtown. Salad seems fresh and service was very good.
Food was excellent, imaginative takes on classics like yuzu hollandaise or pickled jalapeno on grilled cheese. For those avocado toast lovers, the serving was very generous! Lovely interior and good music rounded out the experience.
My crispy skin salmon with black rice was delicious! The caesar salad had too much of an anchovy taste for my liking.
The food and service were excellent. But being seated near the entrance it was very crowded, noisy and drafty with customers frequently coming in and out.
First time here, great venue, very unique, awesome vibe, fabulous decor, amazing food and drinks and there's a piano bar downstairs! We will be back for sure!
We went early because we had play tickets at 7. The service was great and the food was delicious! I ordered the Vegan burger (not a vegan) because of reviews I read about how good it was. And they were right. It was totally delicious. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
This is a one of those restaurants we hit every time we're in NYC. It's fun, the food is fantastic and it has the best cocktails. We love to go to Bo Peep when we can too--the piano bar downstairs. We order a few dishes and share and end with the drunken donuts. Our waiter Cecil was fantastic.
Amazing food and great ambiance. Will be coming back again!
Best cocktail I’ve ever had, wonderful ribs for an appetizer, bass for
I've now been to The Rag Trader twice. The first time was for brunch on Father's Day, which was fantastic. The French toast was extremely tasty and the value was excellent. It was not as crowded as when I went for dinner, but there still was a lively vibe. The decor was fun.
I went with some friends the other night and four of us had the vegan burger. None of us are vegan, but we all raved about how good it was. The cocktails also were great -- between the five of us, we enjoyed the Stifler's Mom, Rose Sangria, Three Piece Suit, and the Sunset Driver. All highly recommended.
The ambiance is very pleasant, though admittedly it can get a bit loud -- but such is life in a full popular restaurant. The staff was attentive and regularly checked in on us. Seriously, no complaints. I'll definitely be coming back.
Ambiance was perfect for a cozy date night. The wine and pizzas were light and delicious. Easy to get to location, friendly staff. Had dinner at Rag Trader and drinks at BoPeep. A little pricey but nothing unexpected for manhattan. We will definitely be returning
Great place to have dinner or just a drink at the bar
Very cool ambiance, and the bottomless brunch for $25 is a steal for NYC! Our waiter was very attentive and was feeding us bottles of champagne (wahooo!). Definitely got our money's worth. I will definitely coming here again for brunch.
We went for brunch because it was convenient to Penn Station and there was no wait. I'm not sure I would go back for brunch, as the food was good, but not great and they lacked some basic things like cream for coffee. The atmosphere was nice, and they are probably better for lunch/dinner/drinks.
I would recommend for the ambiance and menu choices. However we did not have good service. Our waiter did not come back to our table once our food was served. We were waiting to order more drinks, food and he never returned. We wanted to order more drinks and food, but he never returned to our table. We had to find him to pay the bill!
We were there for lunch before a matinee. It was the brunch menu, so a little limited, but all the food was very good, and the service was very good as well. Cool decor in an old garment factory. Would recommend and would come back.
Great atmosphere, just came for a couple of drinks. Cool vibes but slow service.
Meeting some friends for dinner.
Went in twice in one week. The gazpacho was amazing.
The staff was very attentive without being hovering.
Every dish was well prepared.
The chicken wings are really good.
The chicken and salmon were good too.
Nice to have a good eatery in the Penn Station neighborhood.
Fun dinner. Thank you for the complimentary dessert.
Been here a few times with a group of 4+. Drinks are great. Normal NYC prices for midtown. Always ordered several small plates and it was always was enough and great. Ribs are a must. Great GF options the last 2 times I visited for the GF eaters in my party.
Service was not good and for was mediocre. They make a big deal about the burlesque show which started an hour later than they said and lasted 6 minutes. Not worth it.
Fun and electric.
The way a neighborhood restaurant should be!
Bartenders Shelby and Ruth did an excellent job of suggesting cocktails and menu items. The first time we stopped in and had a drink at the bar (El Guapo) and the Stuffed Squash Blossoms which were delicious, perfectly fried, yet light and delicate. We returned a few nights later with friends and sat in the beautiful dining area. We started with the Sausage Pizza after seeing many other tables with pizzas. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. Friends loved the Crispy Skin Salmon, Vegan Burger and Hanger Steak. Our server talked me into the Mushroom Bolognese, a meatless dish, which was over-the-top amazing. It's served with homemade fettuccine and you'd swear it was made with meat. For dessert we had the Donuts which were wonderful. Overall the menu is a nice mix of appetizers, items to share, salads, pizzas and entrees. After dinner we went downstairs to Bo Peep, their Speakeasy / Piano bar which was a lot of fun.
Fun girls night out!
Good food and dishes elaborated
Maybe so much noise and little lightness.
A great food and a great experience.
Not to much expensive and good price-quality.
Recently in NYC for a long weekend and enjoyed dinner at the Rag Trader and can only compliment them for their service and accommodation. They seated us in a quiet comfy spot and greeted us with complimentary champagne because I indicated we were celebrating my husband's birthday when they asked the occasion. My husband is a bourbon lover and they have plenty to offer. From the drinks, to the food and the complimentary dessert...everything was perfect! Would love to visit again!
We LOVED our server. He was incredible. We will definitely be back again.
Hosts and waitstaff were so welcoming and doting. Excellent service. Food was yummy with lots of options depending on taste and appetite. Pinot Noir by the glass offering was lovely.
Planned husband’s 50th birthday there. Complimentary birthday Champagne was served to us when we arrived. Waiter was lovely. Menu very balanced with Italian dishes, seafood and burgers. All very tasty. Ambiance is wonderful and wasn’t noisy.
Servers and food was amazing. Drinks were made to perfection. The hostess was the only thing that I was not 100% comfortable with. When I asked a question she wasn’t giving a direct answer that could help me. It left me still confused on what needed to be done in my situation, Wether or not I should have cancelled or try to make it to the restaurant.
I would still go back and still recommend this place, but I'm very disappointed in my experience. The waiter did a terrible job of explaining how the bottomless brunch worked. It turns out that you cannot to bottomless brunch and get a brunch bowl. My meal ended up costing $145 more than it should have because of this mix up. They agreed to take a round of drinks off, but the meal was still $100 more than if we had only paid for the bottomless. They should do a better job of ensuring their customers know what they're paying for.
