The Ragged Cot
Having stood proudly since the 17th Century, the coaching house has an intriguing past filled with highwaymen and pilferage. Recently under new ownership, the Ragged Cot has been lovingly restored to combine authentic countryside tradition with modern style and comfort – with dogs and wellies welcome! The shabby chic interior and deeply comfortable bedrooms are the epitome of countryside cool.

We enjoyed our food and the service was good. We would go back again.
We had and early breakfast here on Christmas Eve and were the only customers in the place. The food was good and the service attentive and friendly. Just what you want. The location is perfect.
Lacking in atmosphere as very few people in restaurant.
Good vegan choices ( although need more pudding options please ) lovely setting , friendly staff & excellent service
Outside eating area was lovely ☺️ I will definitely return 😊
Lovely meal out.
Food was good, but I should have said that I would prefer a plate rather than the wooden tray but I was too polite. Just a personal note.
Sadly, it was very quiet - only two other couples at tables. We both had the Sunday roast, one lamb and one chicken. Both were delicious, beautifully cooked served with a good variety of vegetables, and very generous portions!
Really delicious roast with generous portions. Couldn’t fault it!
We love it here. It's our go to place when we need a hearty Sunday lunch that we know won't let us down. Everything is very well organised Covid-wise and the staff are always friendly, with nothing too much trouble.
The service was efficient and polite. However the best feature of the restaurant was the food; the scallops were beautifully cooked and the accompanying elements were debilitate and really tasty. For my my main course I had a sirloin steak which was again beautifully cooked and served with a delicious sauce. Everything was done in a COVID-19 safe manner and with great care .
Service was fairly good, but sadly not a great meal. Starters were disappointing, I did not enjoy my main and sent it back choosing not to try anything else. Sticky toffee pudding was on the menu but they had run out. Lovely place but I won't be returning for the food, such a shame as I am local and was hoping it would better.
It was ok generally- slightly undercooked elements to some of the meal and quite a tough sirloin.
Starters lacked some of the flavour I was expecting so average rating from me overall.
Difficult times I know through this period so allowing this not to be too reflective of what is a lovely venue
A celebration dinner ended up as a great disappointment which we would rather forget. My partner's dinner was swimming in peas and had to be sent back. On return it had red undercooked chicken and strange cubed new potatoes. Sadly the meal was uneatable and we were offered a free dessert or coffee but it was too late. We shall not be returning or recommending.
Great Sunday lunch. Huge portions of fantastic, tasty, quality food.
Great food and great service in a great location. Really like the new menu, lots of interesting menu options along with classic favourites.
We had the bottomless brunch, was always going to be a little weird due to Covid restrictions.
The effort made for the outdoor area was really great and matched with a call in the week saying to prepare for eating outside and what they were providing was great.
When we arrived we were made to feel welcome, having done bottomless brunches before we knew what to expect, the first few rounds of drinks were a little slow but to be fair we had ordered cocktails which do take more time to make.
The food was very good, great size steaks and good standard.
As the 2 hours progressed the drinks flowed better and a bottle was handed over each time which was great!
Absolutely would go again, was a little more pricey but then no taxi needed so all in all a great afternoon out!
The staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. Our food was tasty and apart from a couple of really small things - missing eggs/hash browns which were quickly rectified we couldn’t have been more happy with our whole experience.
The two hour brunch option for alcohol made our walk home even more enjoyable and the espresso martinis were absolutely wonderful!
Really enjoyed our evening out. Will definitely return soon.
As with the last time we ate here, the food, service was outstanding. A different menu from the last time too, which I find a few other local restaurants/pubs don’t do often enough.
Though a lot quieter this time, but put that down to it being so close to Christmas.
Highly recommend, it’s become our new favourite place to eat.
See you again soon.
In these very difficult and unusual times the Ragged Cot was much quieter than usual, so we were the only ones in that part of the restaurant for much of the time. However we were well looked after and the food we had was absolutely delicious. There were some interesting menu choices and it generally seemed good value for money. We shall definitely return.
Staff came across very abrupt and rude except for one young girl who seemed to be the only happy member of staff.
Amazing food. Lovely friendly staff. Great value for money
Good, honest pub food well served. Friendly staff.
I have Eaten here a few times the last few weeks and will definitely be returning after lockdown. I hope all the staff stay safe and hope to see them soon
Food is amazing and such a beautiful place. Love it here
Great service, great food. Really quick and accommodating.
Food was excellent, very well presented on the plate. Majority of the food is locally sourced. The Ales of draught were very well chilled and served brilliantly.
We had a lovely lunch the food was good and the service great, in these times its key to feel safe and there were a number of initiatives in place to support this such as the ability to scan a QR code to get the menu on your phone opposed to handling the paper version.
Quite simply perfect, all food was highly presented on the plate, beautiful flavours and nicely priced
Went for the Bottomless Brunch, it was fantastic, can’t fault anything. Will definitely be returning again.
It was all good EXCEPT the service door from the kitchen made the most HORRIBLE bang like a gunshot every time someone came out of the kitchen. I mentioned it whilst I was there and the waitress agreed. I left with a headache - sad because everything else was good.
Food was lovely great atmosphere staff was great xxxxx
Loved the food
Inventive menu and perfectly cooked
Very Covid safe
Staff very friendly and professional service
Great quality food!! Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Great Sunday lunch, perfect beef with all the trimings. Restaurant felt very covid safe with spaced out tables, sanitisers etc.
Lovely Sunday Lunch
Extremely pleasant restaurant and will certainly return and recommend it
This is our second week of eating here! Love it! Really cheers us up in these depressing times. Friendly staff and great food!
Sunday dinner with family, including 2 young children. Quick to be seated and served. Food was excellent, well presented and very generous portions. Starters interesting and very tasty.
Children really enjoyed their roast dinners, especially Yorkshire puddings.
After a walk around the garden we tried crumbles and ice cream, both a real success.
We will definitely be returning.
A quiet Friday lunchtime meal with my son. Nice food and good choices on menu. Waitresses helpful. Would visit again and recommend.
Booked late on the Saturday for Sunday lunch for the wife’s birthday.
Great service and very attentive staff. Food was fantastic and what huge Yorkshire puddings!
