The Rabbits is a family friendly gastro pub & restaurant in the heart of the essex countryside. We pride ourselves on good friendly service and good quality homecooked food with our seasonal menus, we serve real ales, fine wines & premium spirits. We have a great beer garden where you can take in the picturesque views whilst not having to go too far to order any food or drink as this can all be done at our garden bar which is also playing background music around our garden, this is open Thurs-Sunday throughout the spring/summer weather permitting. There is a childrens play area and we also welcome dogs in our garden and inside the bar area. The Rabbits Team look forward to seeing you soon.

We booked a table for Fathers Day and overall the experience was ok. One of the waitresses was quite rude/short with us, the restaurant was busy and we felt like asking her to order our food or for drinks was an inconvenience to her. She did not come across as friendly at all. She brought me the wrong drink and when I pointed out I hadn't ordered that one, she took it away like it was my fault. The food was mostly ok, only thing I would say was that the roast potatoes were quite obviously frozen which I would not expect when paying £26 for the roast lamb meal. We had to ask for our bill to be readjusted as had been charged for large soft drinks when we only had small soft drinks. Was a shame they did not acknowledge Fathers Day at all, we have been to other places for Mothers and Fathers Day and they have often given a free drink or a free dessert etc. I feel the restaurant is properly better when they are not busy, they did not seem to be able to be as friendly or welcoming or even get the order right when they are busy.

When we arrived our table wasn’t ready no one acknowledge us I had to go to someone we then waited good 20 mins to be seated to be seated with no menus no one asked us for drinks I had to ask someone for drinks the. I had to re ask if someone could take our order We ordered the roast plaster £30pp well that a bloody rip off the beef tough the pork was full of fat hardly any veg Complete rip off Staff very rude not one smiled Wasn’t a good first impression wouldn’t be returning

good value, service was ok but slackened as the restaurant became full. The menu is very limited on Sundays basically to a roast (steak, chicken, port) and a couple of other dishes. Fish & Chips was good, the roasts are presented more like school dinners. The menu is a paper print out on a cheap clip board. The conservatory is a large spill over but lacks any ambience, a few cobwebs around, the place needs a proper clean. If you are booking I suggest inside the pub & not the conservatory.

I took my sister and my son for a Sunday roast dinner at The Rabbits. The food, service and value for money was very good. I could have done with the music from the garden bar being a little lower volume but that is just a minor criticism.

Very nice Sunday lunch. Efficient friendly service, nice size portions and well cooked. Good value. Will definitely return.

Beautiful pub in Stapleford Abbots. Lovely dining areas and great garden. Went for Sunday Roast. Daisy our waitress was very attentive and polite and efficient. I had the roast pork dinner. Loads of beautifully cooked tender pork and fresh veg. Too much for me, but asked or a box and bought the rest home. Enormous portions. All the food served looked delicious. Fish and chips looked like a whale on a plate and the burgers were at least stacked a mile high! Great value, great atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.

Really lovely roast meat was lovely and tender and was seasoned lovely. Service was excellent as well and nice atmosphere

Nice place to eat for a Sunday afternoon but unfortunately let down by the food. Plates are quite small for the good size food portions but the food itself was a bit of a letdown. The apple crumble was particularly bad, it appeared the apples were out of a Tin and finished with breakfast granola. Potatoes did not appear to be roasted or may have been pre roasted and reheated! Sorry but this is not what we expected !
