The Quarter Turkish Mediterranean Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Mixed feelings about this unique place. It is Turkish, but also vaguely West Village American. The atmosphere is warm, but also a bit too much in the bar area. The staff was efficient and friendly, but there is a haphazard feel to the service. Most importantly, the food was both tasty (green bean appetizer, Turkish bread), and mediocre (hamburger, Turkish ravioli - mantı). I would try it again, but I hope there could be more focus and improvements in the food.
Such delicious food! I am so glad to know about this place. The service was friendly, almost family-like, but in a good way. I had a wonderful kale salad with roasted butternut squash that I would highly recommend, while my friend had a delicious-looking pureed lentil soup (she said ti was very well seasoned) and a vegetarian pasta dish that looked and smelled divine. Good coffee (as expected), and the place was pleasantly quiet at lunchtime. I will look for an opportunity to go back when I am hungry enough to try the kebabs.
The food was amazing--excellent, upscale Middle Eastern food. We were a group of 8. We requested a round table, which they didn't have but the manager figured out a way to set up a table with 2 people on each side--pretty close to round; we appreciated the effort! The whole evening felt like they would do whatever possible to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. And we did!
Excellent Turkish cuisine served with a smile. We tried several items on the menu, and all were delicious and passed the authenticity standard among those of us who have spent time in Turkey. Manager Fahit was so welcoming, we came back for post-theater drinks. This is around the corner from the Lucille Little Theater, making it a great place pre/post show.
We ordered oysters twice, and both times our order was 1 short. The table next to us had the same issue. When we ordered again, the waiter told us 6 oysters were on him. When the bill same, he charged us for the 6 oysters, in addition to the oysters that were missing from the plate both times. They also added drinks to our bill that we did not have. Seems like they were trying to screw us out of our money as if we weren't going to check the bill. Food was nothing special either. Won't be back here!
I ate here twice in two weeks . It's a well run place. The cosmopolitan was good sized and generous with the vodka. The food is very fresh )I had lamb once& fish the second visit). I recommend the eggplant purée, fried peppers and white bean salad. It's so pleasurable to eat in a restaurant that doesn't blast loud music and you can have a conversation without shouting. Thank you Quarter
We stumbled across The Quarter doing a OpenTable neighborhood search for our annual birthday get-together with one of our friends. We were seated right away and the waiter was right there to get our wine order in. He returned to suggest a great special that sounded tasty enough to choose over The Quarter's seafood selections which were one of the reasons we decided on this place in that initial search.
I had that special, lamb with mashed potatoes, and it was amazing. Cooked to perfection and a larger portion than I expected in a West Village restaurant. My husband had the salmon and it was another winner, beautifully prepared and the side of fingerling potatoes were something he won't soon forget. Our friend decided that since it was Memorial Day weekend, he had to try the Quarter Burger and the reviews for that one were also on point. He substituted the fingerlings as well and was glad he did as they were delicious.
The only let down came after dinner. We sat and sat, watching the waiter go here and there, talk to the hostess or play with his phone but he never came by to ask how our meal was or whether we wanted anything more. When I did finally catch his eye, instead of coming by, he sent someone over to give us more water. All this went on for about 30 minutes when finally we had to flag another waiter down to bring us our check. We enjoyed the time to catch up but based on dinner we expect that dessert would have been just as good but it was never offered.
We would go back to The Quarter and we certainly would suggest the food to our friends, we would just warn them in advance to expect underwhelming service that has been mentioned in several of the reviews we read since. We chose this place on the star rating and the menu as individual service is dependent on many factors and we have often had the complete opposite experience but alas, this wasn't the case with The Quarter.
The location is great. We made reservation for a large group. We came late and our table was still available for us. Great service. A problem that I encountered was that the menu was brunch for a Sunday around 2pm. No too many options if you'd like to have an actual lunch. I asked the waiter if we can have something else that is not in the menu but I guess the kitchen is not lenient on this type of request. That was a big drawback for us.
The Quarter is a very very good. Excellent Med hint of Turkish cuisine. Great staff from Server-Bar-Kitchen and the Owner. Only negative is - yes an extensive and excellent wine list however, wine is pricey. Menu is a great value - price for entree and small plates is very fair and the dishes are excellent.
We had a brunch there last Sunday as I like to try new places. Its was a terrible experience as our waiter was obnoxious. The food is ok, nothing special that will make us come back. But the worse was the attitude of that waiter. He was extremely rude. I absolutely do not recommend it.
my girlfriend and I were looking for a brunch spot with a one year old child. This place was very child friendly and accommodating. They had a high chair and toys! The waitstaff was excellent as was the service. Portions were a bit small, but the food was fair.
The food was fantastic, literally the only reason I would recommend The Quarter. The service was horrendous. The waiter obviously was an "actor" waiting for his big break who was unconcerned with doibg a good or even decent job. He disappeared after trying to serve us the wrong bottle of wine, and we had no further interaction with any staff members for over an hour. We finally had to beg another waitress to bring our check. It is really too bad, because the food was in every way delicious but the service was absolutely horrible. Truly a disappointing experience.
The Quarter was a small restaurant at which we ate Sunday brunch. Prior YELP reviews indicated it was wise to get a reservation. Really not needed. Limited brunch menu so unless you like chilaquiles with lots of tortillas and not much else or burgers this might not be the place for you. The fryer was broken and so all fries had to be subbed by a green salad; I wouldn't have cared, but spouse was disappointed. Bellini was more like a mimosa--and perhaps that's what it was because there sure wasn't any peach in there. The Quarter wasn't bad, it just wasn't really good either. There are better choices for brunch in the city. Disappointing, as this was one of the last meals we had with our daughter after moving her into NYU.
